Title: FSX want start after update **SOLVED**
Post by: bkwood20 on June 02, 2014, 06:26:57 pm
I just installed an update for GSX and now FSX want start. Any thoughts?

Surely a GSX update won't start FSX automatically on its own. I'm not sure I understood your question though...

Had the same problem with this UPDATE!
Solution: Install the old update again.

Can not be a coincidence?

My FSX wont start at all because of coutl.exe . I have tried to older updates but still the same result.

My FSX wont start at all because of coutl.exe . I have tried to older updates but still the same result.

This because Couatl.exe is NOT the cause of FSX not starting up. Couatl.exe cannot prevent FSX from starting because, by definition, an EXTERNAL .exe cannot prevent FSX to work. If Couatl.exe would crash for any reason, the worse it can happen is that it will just disappear from the Addon menu, and that's it, it cannot cause FSX to crash or not start at all.

So, your problem of FSX not starting doesn't have anything to do with Couatl.exe

Note that, if you see some kind of error related to Couatl.exe, you might be MISLEAD thinking that Couatl.exe is the cause of FSX not starting up, but it's likely the opposite way around: the same problem that is preventing FSX to start, might AFFECT Couatl.exe the same way. Since they BOTH use the VC++ 2005 runtimes, it's possible that a corrupted/missing/badly installed runtime would affect BOTH in the same way, so FSX AND Couatl.exe are not working for the same reason, and both are victim of the same problem.

I removed your other post about this: as explained many times on the forum, DO NOT post twice about the same problem, you won't increase chances to be replied to, and you will only delay response time.

It's best you contact me with PM to arrange a Teamviewer session, with your session id and password:

http://www.teamviewer.com

Because what you are reporting simply can't happen, but I would like to have a look at your system.

Umberto,

I think the problem is directly related to Couatl.exe, becuse I have had this problem for  3 days now and cant seem to resolve it.

I installed a few demos of FSDREAMTEAM airports then uninstalled them, Now all of a sudden GSX doesnt want to work.

If I unistall GSX, the problem goes away, and FSX starts no problem, so It must be related to Couatl.exe.

I also had issues with my DLL.XML file and deleted it, I let it build a new one.

Could that have anything to do with it ?

Cheers

Rob

That error has been explained hundreds of times ready , it means you are trying to install GSX before Fsx is completely shut down. It has nothing to do with your issue.

And didn't you listen to Umberto at all? There are some key points in what he said that I think you missed.

Yes I did read what he said and I'm confirming that coutl.exe is the cause of my FSX crashes, its getting very annoying now because not only does GSX rely on coutl.exe, also the 757 which I just got from Qualitywings I cant even use now thanks to it acting up !

I have tested it from processes explorer that as soon as Coutl.exe kicks in it automatically shuts down FSX. Its NOT my anti-Virus preventing coutl.exe from starting
Its NOT VC++ 2005 ( As I have installed and re-installed all of them)
Its NOT Sim.Connect
Its NOT my FSX installation.
and NO , GSX was not mistakenly made an un-trusted Publisher.

Everything has been confirmed.

I have un-installed all FSDREAmTeam products from my PC and re-installed.

Only products which use coutl.exe prevent my FSX from starting up

I have read all of the previous forum posts related to this issue and still cant solve it.

And for your information pal! I did read what Umberto wrote and have sent him my details.

I'm still waiting his response.

Cheers !

And here's my evidence just for your own reference !

Ill take the video down as soon as my problem is sorted out.

Your video doesn't show ANY "evidence" that Couatl.exe is making FSX to QUIT (there's no crash) so no, Couatl.exe doesn't have anything to do with this. As I've said, many times already, Couatl.exe CANNOT cause FSX to crash, and will surely not force-quit it, which is what is happening here.

See the explanation here:

There clearly is a crash, Did you see FSX start up where you are supposed to select an aircraft ?

Or do you want me to include a video with processes exlplorer showing coutl.exe starting and then crashing FSX.

Umberto Its my system, I think I know what is going on, Ive been investigating the problem for 3 days !

And AGAIN, the link you provided provides nothing new,

I have UNINSTALLED avast and have no security on my PC trying to just get addon manager to work.

So hence there is NO anti virus software which can prevent the addon manager from installing properly.

You stated you would look at my system via Team viewer,

Would you mind answer my PM please?

Today I expected to try the 757 from Qws yet this problem is still preventing me from using more add-ons.

That's clearly NOT a crash. It's a clean QUIT to desktop, with no crash error message.

Quote

Again, it's NOT COUATL *causing* the QUIT. Couatl.exe is quitting BECAUSE FSX.EXE has exited, not the other way around!

I to am having the same problem, but I have problem with people having access to my computer, nothing personal against Umberto, but it's one of my policies over a past experience, I understand his reasons for wanting to do it in private, but I have mine about my computer. If there is some way he can get the fix to REGISTERED users via emails, that would be the most viable solution for those that are just as personal as I am about my computer! If teamviewer is the only fix, then I suggest issue another update to fix what is broken. I would hate to lose GSX because of this but I'm willing to, if I have to allow anyone else access to m computer.

There's nothing to update or fix on our side, because there's nothing broken on any of our products, they are performing as they should, the *ultimate* cause of the problem is something you have installed in FSX, I'll explain you what it is by PM and I'll also explain why I had to check the system *before* even telling you WHAT it is.

Sir,
forme nothing is solved after trying somme fixes.

I've been obliged to replace my mobo for exactely the same one( Asus Ramapge IV extrem).
I don't have to reinstall anything just to activate Win7 again . And Fsx e.g.
Fsx is on a separate SSD.

AS GTX was not working , I tried  an uninstallation including couatl and the add-on manager ( which had sonn some issues before like asking very often to install the separate version).

And then reinstallation from the website.

Run ok
But after starting correctly FsX quit before opening. Over!

The only cure I found: desintalling GTX a.s.o.

Now FSX opens but I have no add-on manager position in "complements".Nor Couatl of course.

And in all the airports by FSDT I only can see the jetways but no buildings.

What could be a working fix?

Thank in advance

Best regards

Have you read this thread ? If your FSX quits at start, you must contact me with a Private Message, with your Teamviewer session id and password.

Getting this same crash, it seems to do with the dll.xml because when I replace the new dll.xml with the one right before the Addon Manager update FSX starts again. When I do that though non of my FSDT buildings appear, only jetways do.
