Hi,
I'm a proud owner of your scenery (LSZH, KLAX, JFK V2, KORD, GSX) but when I try to install anyone of your products, P3D stop working.
When I start the sim, it freezes the whole pc (even mouse and keyboard are stuck!) just after the rebuilding scenery library process and I have to reset the computer from reset button.
This happen when I try to install every scenery with an .exe (Aerosoft, FSDT, ecc...).
I've checked all xml files and they are ok (no syntax error or part missing) and AV was off during the installation. UAC il also disabled from regedit (it's the only way to disable completely the UAC in Windows 8)
If you need some more infos, just ask!
Best regards,
Francesco

So, it's not a problem specific of our products, it seems you can't install anything that changes the Scenery Library.
Are you using FSX on the same system ? Do you have the P3D Migration tool installed ? If yes, try with that one disabled.
-
I've got FSX installed on another HDD but the problem persists even without FSX (I've installed it today)
I haven't got the Migration Tool because I can't install it (my computer freezes when I try to install the program, but this is another problem and I'm trying to solve it with the developer).
Thank you for your answer
best regards,
Francesco

A little update:
I've installed only your addon managerX and Coautl engine with the stand alone installer and this cause the freeze.
This is driving me crazy! I've checked all .xml files and they are perfect and programs .exe are running with Admin rights (I've tried also with comp. mode wih Windows 7)
For now the problem persist only with your products and some Aerosoft products.
I'm waiting for your answers.
Best regards
Francesco

That's not very clear: do you mean the freeze doesn't happen if you *uninstall* the Addon Manager ?
-
I've installed ONLY the addon manager with the Stand Alone exe.
The problem is there.
No other scenery that needs the addon manager is installed.

That's NOT what I've asked. I've asked if the problem goes away if you UNINSTALL the Addon Manager. Be sure you reply YES to the question "Do you want to remove the Addon Manager ?" which is made at the end of any uninstall process related to any of our sceneries.

Sorry! I've misunderstod your question.
So, yes the problem goes away if I unistall the Addon Manager (Click YES to "do you want to remove the Addon Manager? " and also YES to "do you want to remove Coautl Engine?").
Kind regards

Do you see any errors ? Perhaps you have a problem with your scenery.cfg file, if that one is corrupted in a bad, it's possible the Addon Manager might crash on start.
Try to move you scenery.cfg away in a different location, it's located in this folder:
%APPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D\scenery.cfg
Move it to your desktop. And BEFORE launching P3D, copy the backup version found in the P3D Root folder into the %APPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D\ folder.
If P3D now starts, then it's sure the problem must be something related to the scenery.cfg being corrupted.

Sorry but the problem persist...
I've followed your instruction but P3D keeps freezing.
-
Another possible reason is the antivirus that corrupted the Addon Manager, try the following:
- Disable the antivirus
- Reinstall the scenery with the antivirus DISABLED
- BEFORE reactivating the antivirus, configure it to exclude the following files from scanning:
\YourP3DFolder\bglmanx.dll
\YourP3DFolder\fsdreamteam\Couatl\Couatl.exe
-
The problem persist.... ???
-
- Go into Control Panel
- Remove ALL instances of the Visual C++ 2005 runtimes in the Control Panel.
- REPAIR your FSX install
- Reinstall JFK
-
Again...the problem persist.
I think that I will install Windows 7 on another HDD...

The problem will likely fix itself if you reinstall Windows.
