I've been having this problem for some time now and I didn't see any other threads discussing this problem I have with the F/A-18. Whenever I try and enter either a TACAN channel or a VHF frequency into the UFC, it displays the tacan channel one less than I inputted and always the Y and never X. If I try to hit the X button, the displayed channel drops by 1 and immediately returns to Y. I'm never able to correctly tune the navaid I want.
Example: I try to enter Corpus Christi VORTAC. I hit the TCN button on the UFC then punch in 102 and hit enter. What happens is the entry field changes to 101 and the X switches to Y and never can switch back to X. If I try to enter the VHF frequency of 115.50, I get the same result. If I hit the X button, the display switches to 101Y. Hit it again and I see 100Y.
I switched to another aircraft to see what was going on with the VHF frequency and the NAV1 radio showed 115.49. This is exactly .01 off from what I entered. Does anyone else have this problem and is there any workaround to fixing it?
The only thing that I can do to make it work is change aircraft everytime I want to tune the Nav radio to a new frequency which is pretty rediculous. Without a fix, it's pretty much impossible to fly IFR with the hornet unless you want to input a GPS flight plan for every flight. Even doing that you aren't able to fly any instrument approaches. This really needs to be looked at.
EDIT: I just saw that this is the same problem that people are having in the "ils" thread.

Has anyone found a workaround other than having to switch aircraft mid-flight to correct this?

Use a Cessna 172 nav radio.
Go to FSX/SimObjects/Airplanes/FA-18/panel/panel.cfg
Window04=Radio Stack
[Window04]
BACKGROUND_COLOR=2,2,2
size_mm=156,308
position=8
visible=0
ident=RADIO_STACK_PANEL
zorder=3
gauge00=Bendix_King_Radio!Bendix-King Radio Audio, 0, 0,156,31
gauge01=Bendix_King_Radio!Bendix-King Radio Nav-Comm 1, 0, 29,156,59
gauge02=Bendix_King_Radio!Bendix-King Radio Nav-Comm 2, 0, 86,156,59

gauge04=Bendix_King_Radio!Bendix-King Radio DME, 0,180,156,41
gauge05=Bendix_King_Radio!Bendix-King Radio Xpndr, 0,217,156,49
gauge06=Bendix_King_Radio!Bendix-King Radio AP, 0,262,156,48
windowsize_ratio=1.000
window_pos=0.756,0.358
window_size=0.243,0.641
If you need help adding these, post here.

Can someone please help me with this? I updated my panel.cfg file and I still have problems with my Nav radios (where when I dial in freq it is 1 digit under the one I tried to dial). Here is what my panel.cfg section looks like. Is there anything else I need to do?

Did you dial it with the F/A-18 instruments? Hit Shift + 5 and open the radio stack and dial in the frequency from there.
-
When I hit Shift+5 (or any other except 1 and 2) it says that there are no panels mapped to that key. Can you PM me your panel.cfg?
-
In the windows section you must not of put it in right. My F/A-18 is modified to be a tanker / squad leader so it has an ATC window. I've attached a zip file.

Thank you very much. This helped.. now I can fly F/A-18 albeit with Cessna panel.
