It's going to be released very shortly, we are updating the web store right now, but the download is not ready yet, you'll see an obvious announcement on the front page of the site, the moment it becomes available. Probably before the end of the weekend.

Lol I hope you're right  ;D I thought it was nowhere near ready yet.

Hope the new v2 version as high-res textures like LAX otherwise no upgrade purchase from me. All other developers like Fightbeam etc. are making high-res versions of their older airports.

Wow this is great news! I too thought we had some more months to go - I'm very excited.

Hope the new v2 version as high-res textures like LAX

KLAX doesn't have any high-res textures!

Yes, they are 4096x4096 in size, but they are not any higher res than JFK or other sceneries we made at 1024x1024 size. We use 4096x4096 for speed and efficiency, because a few 4096 textures are faster to draw than many 1024, even if the overall information is the same ( one 4096 = sixteen 1024s ).

So, JFK V2 will use 4096 textures for the ground, just like KLAX, for efficiency purposes. However, they WILL appear much sharper than previous JFK V1, because back then we used a native photoreal scenery as ground, and that method can suffer of blurriness depending how much power the PC used has and how the settings are, while the KDFW/KLAX/CYVR method we are also using for JFK V2, remains sharp regardless of the settings. Of course, it's controlled by the maximum textures size in FSX.CFG/Addon Manager, that has to stay at 4096, to see the textures at the resolution they were designed.

Did you guys decide to update the textures for the terminals as well?

Only to represent changes to the terminals, such as the new Terminal 4.

That's good to hear. I look forward to seeing all the other changes you guys implemented  ;D

Great news, I have already purchased it :-) question; Do I need to uninstall the old version first?

Yes, but the installer will tell you to do so anyway.

Could someone explain a bit more the list of things that have been changed?  The ground textures look nicer in the screen shots and it looks like the highways are actually depressed in to the terrain under the taxiway bridges.  However, the terminals looks very similar (from above sounds like only T4 has changed).  Are any of these changes expected to impact performance for better (I hope) or worse?  The upgrade price is pretty reasonable, but I've also been perfectly happy with the currently JFK.

Ok, thanks... I've just flown a heli trip around the airport and damn :-) nice graphics and very nice fps. Great job guys :-) Nice to to see the new Jetblue Terminal

You should have received the list of changes by email, here's the original post:

Thanks, I see that now.  I had been looking under preview/announcement forums and not in the older support forums.

So Umberto  :) which airport will be next up for a makeover?

KLAS, most likely, but we are now back to work to GSX, and the next "new" airport (90% will be KIAH) will be released first.

It think people think KDEN is the unannounced project due to all the talk about it and Mir saying they were considering it.

He also said he has no personal fascination with Denver.  If he can't get hyped up for it, why bother doing it?  As for what I think it is, could be SAN, SLC, SJC... could be MHT for all I know...

I don't care which US scenery it will be...I'm just happy with another US airport for FSX  ;) Keep them coming

Great stuff!

The US is getting a welldeserved pampering! It was out in the cold for a long time! Now Europe has old add ons that need updating... Badly!

One of the largest update we did was Zurich, which was updated twice and for free. We also released an update for Geneva a couple of weeks ago.

Wasn't Zurich planned as a three part update, with the third step being payware?

Possibly, after we'll assess how the paid JFK update worked.

Just one question about the new JFK: Will there be AES support for V2? Or does AES support of V1 even work for V2? (Well, the positions of the gates should be the same for most of the gates, right?)
I'm not sure, but I think I've read that all your newer FSX sceneries won't have AES support because they have GSX support anyway.

No, it doesn't, at the moment, which is perfectly understandable, because GSX (which is better) is FREE at KJFK, so who would ever not use it ?

Me :-) ...because AES is already active (from FS2004 times) for JFK V1 in FSX - so for me it's also free in this case. What's really better (AES oder GSX) depends on personal preferences. However buying an update while losing AES compatibility (even if GSX is available) wouldn't make much sense, as for me personally JFK V1 is still "good enough" for the moment. That's why I'm asking.
So if no AES support is planned I'm probably gonna stick with the old version and look forward to the next new FSDT scenery or the KLAS update.

So if no AES support is planned I'm probably gonna stick with the old version and look forward to the next new FSDT scenery or the KLAS update.

I'll explain again: fact AES will be supported or not, doesn't have anything to do with us, we haven't changed the jetway models from V1, they were just moved in different positions because of the changed/demolished terminals, so mr. Pabst has anything needed from us to add support to JFK V2.

So, whether there will be or not support for JFK V2 in AES and if this would be free or to be purchased separately, is entirely mr. Pabst decision.

Usage of GSX, instead, doesn't have much to do with the fact you were using AES or not. Instead, is more related to the fact that all support for docking systems at JFK V2 is now inside GSX.

Before GSX, each of our installers had to carry on an additional set of "GSX" support files (we called it ParkMe, back then, but it was basically GSX without humans), that weighted about 18MB on each installer, and it required to keep this files updated whenever we update GSX too.

Now, all airports released after GSX, such CYVR and JFK V2, don't include such support files anymore, which saves a bit on download size, and are easier to maintain, since we have a single installer that contains all of this, which is GSX itself, which also has the ability to self-update.

This means, you should consider GSX as being an integral part of the scenery, just in a separate download and, because it's free, there's no reason not to download it, otherwise you wouldn't have docking systems, this is valid for CYVR and JFK V2, but it will shortly be like this for all our other sceneries.

Are we sure it isn't supported?  I removed version 1 prior to installing version 2, and JFK shows up in AES as being installed in demo mode.
