Title: GSX stops working in game. HELP!!!!!!! **SOLVED**
Post by: Physics70 on March 08, 2013, 05:39:54 pm
Hello,

Ok, so not matter what airport I start in, the same thing happens.  If I hit my hot key to bring up ground crew, it shows up for about 5 seconds then disappears.  After that happens, no matter how many times I hit the hot key, the GSX menu will not come back up.  If I try to bring it up for boarding this event happens.  If I wait to use ground crews for de-boarding when I land, it happens.  This has never happened before.  It was been working fine for a while.  I do know I upgraded my video card.  I am using an EVGA GFX 680.  I have updated video drivers.  I am also running Traffic 360 if that helps.  Again, it does not matter what airport I use.  The same thing happens.  The only thing that will let the menu come back up is exiting FSX and going back in just to have the same thing happen again.  Please help.

Try to enable logging in GSX Settings -> Troubleshooting, and restart FSX, than wait for the problem to appear, and exit.  Check the %APPDATA%\Virtuali\ folder if you have a Couatl.err file, and post it here.

That's the LOG FILE. Not the ERROR file.

Post the Couatl.err file.

Ok.  Sorry.  No error file was created.  But I can say that not only does the GSX menu not come up when I hit the hot key after the services wont come up, the option for GSX is removed from the add-on menu as well.  :o(

Perhaps this AFCAD file has a problem:

Loading airport LIRF from C:/ProgramData/FlightSimTools.com/Airport Wizard/scenery_FSX/scenery/LIRF_AirportWizard.bgl

Could you please try with a default airport using the stock AFCAD ?

Another possible reason could be: that "Airport Wizard" program might have its own AFCAD folder still open in write mode, this means no other program can open it, so GSX maybe it's lead into a crash, because Windows has denied it accessing that file, because is kept open and locked by the Airport Wizard.

Actually I thing you are right.  I went to an airport not touched by airport wizard and there was no problem.  Ok  I uninstalled airport wizard but the manual says the file remail.  When I try to load GSX at an airport that was edited by the wizard, it wont work even thought I removed the wizard.  Suggestions?

That seems to indicate the problem is not really the Aiport Wizard being running and preventing the file to be opened, but that it creates AFCADs that are somehow not standard. Try to attach that .BGL on a post, so we can have a look at it.

I've tried your BGL, and it works normally. You said the ground crew disappears after 5 seconds, that might be caused by FSUIPC not updated, it can be fixed by setting this parameter in the FSUIPC4.INI file:

DeleteVehiclesForAES=No

OR

By using the latest FSUIPC version, which should make an exception and not removing FSDT objects because it recognize them.

The FSUIPC4.INI file is up to date.  I added the line to the .INI file.  No good.  :o(

The FSUIPC4.INI file is up to date.

The .INI doesn't matter, it's the FSUIPC program itself that must be updated, otherwise it won't understand that line in the .INI file.

Yes.  I miss spoke.  The FSUIPC4 version is the most recent.  I am also using the registered version.

Then I'm sorry, but I can't think of any other reason for vehicles disappearing after a few seconds, the FSUIPC was the only reported case.

Does other vehicles from GSX work, for example the Follow me ?

Sorry this took so long.  No.  Follow me does not work either.  Now they dissapear from airports the Wizard did not even touch.  :o(

I'm sorry, but can't replicate it in any way, nobody has ever reported it before, and the few similar cases were all caused and fixed by the FSUIPC thing.

Do you think a removal of GSX and re-install might do the trick?

OMG I found the issue.  Traffic 360 was doing it.  Evidently it adds some ground traffic that was causing a conflict.  thoughts?

Ok. so i tried disabling the traffic ground scenery.  That did not work.  I tried deleting the traffic scenery in FSX.  That did not work.  GSX only works if I uninstall Traffic 360.  Any suggestions?

Uninstall Traffic 360. Or, probably better, asking in their support forum why GSX works normally, until you install their program.

This is what most people would probably do here, it they found a case when, installing GSX, would stop another add-on from working.

An educated guess might be, their products is doing something to "clean" up parking spots for some reasons, perhaps to reduce AI congestion, and it's not correctly filtering non-airplane vehicles as it should, so it can't make out ground service vehicles from airplane vehicles.

Ok.  Between you and them I figured it out.  FYI.  When one installs Traffic 360 in FSX in puts in a BFG file called JFTraffic_PushBack.  It conflicts with the FSX vehicles_airport files.  So I had unchecked the scenery in the add-on database for scenery and then I removed the JFTraffic_PushBack file from the  Flight Simulator X/Scenery/Global/scenery folder.  Just to make sure I did a fresh install of both before I performed the procedure.  Thanks for all of your help.

Hello.  I know we talked about this a long time ao.  My problem still exists.  I thought I fixed it.   try to enable my GSX at the gate.  Then, it appears then disappears.  The menu opton for GSX also goes away from the FSX menu.   am sooo upset.  I love GSX and i am so missing out.  Can we try to fix this.  Has anyone else had this problem?

Nobody else ever reported it. Traffic 360, like other traffic products out there, comes with their own AFCAD files made for the default airports that conflicts with add-on airport, so they must be removed in order not to have misplaced AI airplanes.

But, if in addition to cause misplaced AIs, those AFCADs also contains errors, it's possible they might cause issues in GSX too. Try to disable every additional AFCAD that comes with Traffic 360, and see if change anything.

Hi,

thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I uninstalled traffic 360 about eight months ago. So I'm not sure if there any AFCAD still in their. The strange thing is, if I uninstalled GSX and traffic 360 then reinstall GSX, GS X works the first time you use it. But if you try to use it again then it goes back to saying the same thing. I will try to disable some of the AFCAD to see if that helps. However, are you pretty sure that this is a problem of a conflicting AFCAD?

Perhaps that file is corrupted. Try to to restore it from the original FSX DVD. GSX obviously works with it. In fact, it *needs* it, otherwise you will lose jetways at all default airports, amongst lots of other things too.

I have no idea, nobody ever reported this problem. and everyone surely use that file, since it contains all default airport library objects.

Hello.  I just wanted to let you know I figured out the problem.  It was a combination of two things.  The Traffic 360 AFCAD files were interfering.  However so was my FTX Global Scenery.  I had to go into the Control Panel software and Prioritize the GSX Scenery.  Problem Solved.  It was such I unique set of circumstances, I see why you had not seen it happen before.  Well, in case any one else has the problem, you can reference this situation.  Thanks for your help.  If you had not told me about the AFCAD files, I would not have known what to troubleshoot.
