Title: 2 Uninstall FSDT Scenery Entries in WIN7
Post by: wb2002 on August 31, 2012, 05:27:03 am
Why is there and should there be 2 uninstall selections in Windows 7 Control Uninstall Programs Section?

Also FSX does not recognize FSDT KLAX - I have 2 uninstalls in Windows also.

Should I remove all FSDT Sceneries and install anew?

Have you P3D installed too ? That's maybe why you see two uninstallers. Or, they might just be leftovers from previous installation, like as if you removed the scenery manually, without running the Uninstaller.

Try to launch them both, and when there are no entries left, reinstall KLAX.

It seems to be a quirk of W7.  If you install a new version over an old version, it shows both of them in the control panel.

I am sorry that I did not include as much info as I should have - I was a little tired. I have all FSDT sceneries except for 2. I installed the latest download which I believe was P3D ready. I think I will uninstall all of the sceneries including the originals plus the one that involve P3D (which I don't have), and then install all latest sceneries. I should end up with only 1 uninstall for each. If I run into any problems I will come back for help or suggestions.

Thanks to both of you.

Note that nothing of this is really necessary for the scenery to work correctly: if you really have installed in FSX only (and not in P3D too), your installation is only one, and there are no duplicate files or something like that.

The only thing that you will "solve" by removing double entries in the Windows Control Panel, is that the Control Panel Add/Remove programs page will just look tidier.
