Noticed i'm on a new version 1.6 when i looked at update release notes and updated, but i've been having trouble trying to customize airport position, the GSX vehicles don't have any pointers showing to edit/move positions, and i can't get out of slew mode to exit/save GSX (default slew command in FSX checked and operational)
BTW how does one check which version GSX is actually installed (i only read the release notes before updating in FSX
I will uninstall and reinstall and confirm my findings
-
I believe it should say in the addon manager.
-
Checked the addon manager for GSX and couldn't find a version (only back up RegKey, open manual etc, only a version 2.9.0.3 for Addon Manager verified up the top).
As suspected, an uninstall via add/remove programs in w7 did show my version (maybe the original GSX setup) tobe version 1.4, i had updated within FSX addon Couatl updater check live update previously but noticed the above discrepancy with slew, hence i downloaded a new version from the GSX product page and verified it as created today July 15th and current, re-installed and airport customization is working
except getting an unknown error which is restarting couatl and not saving airport custmization,
is airport customization ONLY for FSDT airports?
Currently updating/verifiying current stand alone manager.
-
Standalone manager is current even though i reinstalled,
airport customization editor not exiting/saving without an error,
produces an error stipulating
addon <unknown> is causing Couatl Scripting Engine to restart, Details can be found in ../../Virtuali/Couatl.er
Please download and install latest Stand Alone Addon Manager from .... (which i did)
Copy from Coautl.err follows
couatl v2.0 (build 2315)

So i solved this by creating a GSX folder (which was true, it did not exist, nor would it bother to create a GSX folder) within such Virtuali folder and solved.
now i'm back to working again on my customization of YMHB

Glad you solved the problem and good luck with the customization!

That's not a GSX problem: if it couldn't create its folder to save any preferences, it's because Windows denied it the access to that folder, likely because your user account has permission problems, and there's no way GSX could bypass the Windows file security system. Of course, by creating that folder yourself, it's surely works because you are then the creator of the folder.

Hi there,
I have the same problem!! Where did you create this folder(path) and what name you gave it?
Please help cause in my airports the wing of my airbus crosses everytime the back stairs!!!

You need to create a GSX folder in the %APPDATA%\Virtuali folder.
-
so i simply have to name it GSX?
-
As I've said, you need to create a GSX folder in the %APPDATA%\Virtuali folder so yes, it will have to be named GSX of course.
-
Thanks a lot!!! SOLVED!!!!! 8)

Virtuali, it should read %APPDATA%\Roaming\Virtuali. I could not find it in APPDATA. Some of the users are not that familiar with folders! Just trying to help!

Virtuali, it should read %APPDATA%\Roaming\Virtuali
No, it's correct as I've wrote.
%APPDATA% (with percent signs) will automatically expando to C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming under Vista/Windows7 or Documents and Settings\username\Application Data under Windows XP so, if you typed %APPDATA%\Roaming\Virtuali, it would expand to C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\Roaming\Virtuali, which is not right.
Some of the users are not that familiar with folders!
That's precisely the reason why I keep using the correct form:
%APPDATA%\Virtuali
which is surely easier than saying (and typing) "C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming under Vista/Windows7 or Documents and Settings\username\Application Data under Windows XP"

In any case, we posted a Live Update fix now that should solve the problem of the GSX folder not being created automatically.

Where are your live updates?
Or are they done automatically?

You should get notifications of them, if you need them, the GSX manual has an explanation how they work. But we also include them in the latest installers that we always keep updated, so you don't have see any notification, you are probably already updated.
