Title: Updating GSX
Post by: thomas888b on April 15, 2012, 03:30:53 pm
Hi, I was told I needed to update GSX outside of FSX, but I'm not sure how to do this. I installed the add on manager, but I can't find it anywhere...

I'm not quite sure what you mean/what step you are having trouble with but the Addon Manager is on any one of FSDT's product pages. Once you click the link to download it, it will be saved in your computer's downloads. You will find the installer in Computer/Downloads.

I've installed it, but can't find the program, it's as if it hasn't installed, not in my start menu, not found searching the C: drive either.

Which internet browser are you using?

Chrome, installed manager, but can't find it in program's list. In the end I updated GSX by downloading from website and installing.

If you installed the Addon Manager, there wasn't any need to update GSX by redownloading it again, because the Addon Manager already did all that was needed. If the message said to download the Addon Manager, it's because it IS the most efficent way to upgrade so, why assuming there has been a "problem" to begin with ?

You don't see the Addon Manager in the Windows Programs list because, since it's not a Windows program, but an FSX addon module, why cluttering the Window program group with something that you can't launch yourself, but needs to be launched by FSX ?

And of course, if you launch FSX, the Addon Manager is there as it always has been and as any other FSX addon module is: under the "Addons" menu.
