Title: A question before i consider buying GSX
Post by: Jet13 on February 10, 2012, 07:38:02 pm
Hi all, sorry if this has been discussed before, just a quick question to ask.
Does the new GSX work at most airports? or just FSDT airports?

The trial version (meaning free) only works at the FSDT, and a few others KSFO being one of them. Once you buy it, it will work at all FSX airports.

Thanks, I will have to try the trial with one of the FSDT airports i have, if it works, I'm getting it.

How well does it work at the other airporst (non-FSDT)

also, i forgot to ask, will the 1.1 update be included (the base pkg)for those who buy it now?

Since we sell everything in Trial version, and the trial version is always freely downloadable and it's the only installer we have, it's always the kept updated with the most current version we have, which is 1.2 now.

By default, you use the Ctrl+F12 hotkey to open the GSX menu in FSX.

You should really try reading the manual.

i'll check that when i get home from classes :) If everything goes well with it, i'll be buying it!

Also, yesterday I was reading some article about how the GSX works, something like that, i cant remember where i saw it. Does GSX only work once you have landed at an airport and pulling up to a gate? I dont use the default built in ATC (is that part of how GSX activates?) I fly online on a big network, VATSIM.

GSX is independent from the default ATC, you can use the same parking the ATC gave you, or a different one, so it works just the same offline or online.

okay thank you. So the key to get it working...is to read the manual?  ;D

one other thing (non-gsx related), I saw someone's screenshot (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/31158446/GSX%20-%20jetway%20problem.jpg) that its so clear that you can read the airplane position marking on the ground, my doesnt also when you are moving a little further down the horizon is a little blurry until i reach that spot it clears up. is this something i go into the airport settings like where i would need to put my reg key in via the addon manager tab in fsx?

GSX is able to recognize the precise parking stop for each airplane kind, but the scenery has to be made for that, we did it only at KDFW right now.

Normally, if there's no customization of any kind, GSX will help you parking to a point were your airplane reference point (the red cross you see in Top-Down View) will be at the center of the parking, as defined in the scenery's AFCAD.

First, you are kindly asked to post screenshots according to the Screenshot posting rules here, especially if you have a large file like that:

In any case, your problem is simply you haven't set your video card properly: use an Anisotropic filter at 8x or 16x, using the option to force the setting, instead of using the application controlled option.

Along with what Umberto said, you may just be seeing the LOD (Level of Detail?) system at work.

In an effort to safe fps, the farther you get from something, the less detailed it get. Looking far down the runway may look somewhat hazy because of this system; in my opinion, it works great.
