I've just flown BFT 12 Flying low level and what a surprise I ramp started at Batumi then followed the IP took off and then joinned on his wing when we entered the MOA from there we flew a series of steerpoints at 500ft before finally heading to Kobeleti. Upon arriving I switched to 133Mhz and radioed the tower for landing. After landing I was told to turn down the right taxiway and park on the 1st revetment on the Left, Sabre had hinted at doing a U-turn inside the revetment as part of an Easter Egg. After parking I then had 2minutes to shut down(this timeI did not forget to turn the ILS off or the oxygen- previous failures on attempting to finish this mission). And to my surprise I past with a speech from the IP and the ground crew showed up to congratulate. Quite an awesome mission I highly reccomend it.

I helped test some of these missions while they were being developed by Sabre they are the best trainning missions I've ever done.

@skimmer,
Any Hawg fan should own both DCS and the Iris model for FSX. I spend a great of time when not "at the boat" flying the Warthog in FSX. I had held on to hope that the A-10 would be one of the models Iris corrects in 2012 and adds the "C" cockpit, now that I have seen the 15E, shouldn't be an issue for their gauge designer. Be warned, it is very hard to fly the DCS and then get back in the FSX model, even with one developers Weps pack. Looking into mission builders now for FSX strictly for the Iris, so I can fly at least accurate low levels.
SUBS17,
I was finally able to get DCS working with v1.1.1.0 after I had access to a faster ISP, I understand there is an update out??? The link is broken above.

I've just finished flying the 4th mission in the payware BFT campaign and so far it is quite good. Compared to the early versions which had quite a few bugs this seems to run quite good the 1st mission I tested was the Interactive startup mission which comes with the startup list and as you do the mission prompts you to push buttons if it takes to long. (very similar to the one for Falcon BMS) The BFT missions are quite good the 1st being Ground handling which is the same as the 1st one tested where you taxi behind a humvee after a rampstart and drive around the airbase followed by parking up and shut down procedure. 2nd mission was Take off and EFATO so you take off the shut down one engine and turn back for a landing.
Heres some tracks of my flights for those who have the BFT campaign.
https://rapidshare.com/files/2842890433/Subs_tracks.zip (https://rapidshare.com/files/2842890433/Subs_tracks.zip)
I may make some more movies of some of the flights later on.
Cost is
Interactive startup trainer $0.99US
BFT Campaign $4.99 US
I also got the first payware FC2 mission F-15 First kill $0.99 which is a mission based on the Israeli Air Force first F-15 A/A combat mission.

DCS World news
And Iris is now making 3 addon aircraft for DCS. ;D
So where do I start?!?
About two weeks ago, I was approached by Matt Wagner, one of the producers over at The Fighter Collection about the development of DCS World, a modular based combat system for 3rd party add-on content. I had been a long time fan of the Eagle Dynamics crew from a few years ago, with LOMAC, DCS A-10C and other similar products.
After some long discussions with the producers and with the IRIS Team, we decided that it would be of great benefit to us to embrace this new platform with open arms. We knew from the get-go that this would be a massive investment in time and man hours, as we had to basically relearn everything we'd developed before.
For those of you who don't know, we've been developing add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator for over a decade and we've worked with various industry professionals and air forces worldwide during that time. Whilst that knowledge has served us in good stead until know, we know that really, the only elements common to both DCS and MSFS was the 3D model and the artwork.
So we're hard at work learning how DCS World works, how aircraft and mods fit into the grand scheme of things, and how to read russian.. The team is also working hard forging new friendships and working relationships with ED team members and forum members to best learn how things work.
At the moment then, it's a LOT of groundwork laying the foundation from which to develop some fantastic military aircraft for the DCS world platform. We're enthusiastic and positive within the team... Daily we go from giddy enthusiasm at the open doors ahead to outright dread at what the heck we've gotten ourselves into!
Still, we forge onwards. We hope that the community will provide us with feedback on what they'd like us to develop and how they think we're progressing. It is a new path for us, and we realise that whilst we're old hands at developing for MSFS, we know very little in the realm of DCS. We hope you will all join in on this new journey with us and enjoy some of the products we have planned.
Thanks guys.
David.

Press Release
Announcing DCS: UH-1H Huey
DUXFORD, UK, October 7th, 2012 - The Fighter Collection and Belsimtek are proud to announce the upcoming release of DCS: UH-1H Huey - the next aircraft in the Digital Combat Simulator (DCS) series of PC combat simulations. The Huey is one of the most iconic and well-known helicopters in the world. Having seen extensive service as a transport and armed combat support helicopter during the Vietnam War, the Huey continues to serve in both military and civilian roles in many countries around the globe today.
DCS: UH-1H Huey will feature the same exacting level of modelling detail as the existing Ka-50 Black Shark, A-10C Warthog and P-51D Mustang DCS aircraft and it will be online compatible with them. Working in close partnership with U.S. based UH-1 operators and experts, The Fighter Collection and Belsimtek have leveraged their unique skills and experience to provide the most dynamic and true to life helicopter experience available on the PC.
The UH-1H will be the first helicopter of conventional design featured in the DCS series and further demonstrates the broad scope of the DCS simulation environment and its ability to introduce a wide variety of aircraft from all eras into a common simulation platform. The UH-1H will also be the first DCS aircraft to offer multiple player positions, including pilot, co-pilot, and door gunner. Like previous DCS products, the UH-1H will include a variety of difficulty options to cater to users with different levels of flight simulation experience, including “Simulation” and “Game” playing modes.
DCS: UH-1H Huey will be available for pre-purchase later this year for $39.99.

Where did you find this information on the UH-1? I know there was some speculation about it after the recent patch, but haven't seen any announcements on the DCS forums. I'd love to see the Huey, just curious how I've missed this.
-
From here:
http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=251
In the third party subforums. It will be 3 seat mp with pilot/copilot and door gunner. Someones also making a Gazelle as well.
-
Ahhh...I see. I was looking towards the "Eagle Dynamics" announcements. I still look forward to this very much, but was wondering how this fit in to "US modern fixed wing aircraft" as the next in line from Eagle Dynamics (after FC3 and Nevada map).
Still, I seem to understand that Belsimtek is a new group added in to TFC/Eagle Dynamics as a second studio/team, so I have very high expectations for the UH-1H.
-
FC3 is out and open beta, this is a promo video.
-
Some cool videos of FC3.
-
Subs,
The second video is pretty cool. Good coordination between the wingmen.
Does DCS's multiplayer have defined red/blue players, or is it more of a free for all, everyone is just trying to kill each other? How is the multiplayer environment? Lot of amatuers or cheaters? Just curious.
Would be great if they added a detailed hornet to the mix, or we can wait for the Seven-G bird.

DCS World MP is very good basically you have many servers with various mission types, there are a few trainning servers which are really good that allow players to train in aircraft on a range doing A/G. Some also allow JTAC/Tanker support and also players can jump in and command vehicles. For A/A there is usually a red and a blue side(already setup in the Mission Editor) and players join either side as a team to defeat the other side. Some servers might be just A/A with F-15Cs vs SU27/33/Mig29s while others are a war with A-10Cs/SU25s doing CAS while the airwar is running often these also have a mix of AI and MP slots so there is still air targets even if no other players are on the server. If a campaign is running upon completion of a mission the campaign generator can automatically load a new campaign so some servers can run for days because of this. Triggers are also used so on the trainning range they can setup a target and if you hit it smoke markers appear to alert you that the range is open and enemy AAA/SAMs are active. Most servers have players who are quite experinced and if a new player joins in they often just ask and people help them out. Squadron missions are the best which is what you saw in that video they used Teamspeak and coordinated their tactics to win the fight.

Following the BFT course the AFT course is now available.
A 10 Mission Campaign that covers Advanced Aircraft Training Qualification in the A-10C Warthog.
The A-10C Pilot Qualification Course has the following phases
Phase 1: Academic Classes and Pre-Flight Training
Phase 2: Basic Flight Training Qualification
Phase 3: Advanced Aircraft Training Qualification
Phase 4: Tactical Training Qualification
Phase 1 gives you Initial Qualification Training (IQT) and is a pre-requisite for Phase 2. Hopefully you have completed Phase 1 and are familiar with the A-10C aircraft systems and instruments. If not, please read the A-10C Flight Manual before continuing.
Phase 2 gives you Basic Aircraft Qualification (BAQ).
It is a pre-requisite for Phase 3. It is recommended that you complete that phase before proceeding to Phase 3.
Phase 3 makes you Basic Mission Capable (BAC). It is a pre-requisite for Phase 4.
Phase 4 makes you Combat Mission Ready (CMR). This is necessary before proceeding on any real combat missions.
The goal of the A-10C Pilot Qualification Course is to prepare Cadets for combat operations flying the A-10C in a number of mission roles. Commanders require pilots with the skills and training necessary to be successful on the battlefield.
Each Phase of training will contain individual Performance Objectives (POs) that must be met to pass the course. Performance Checks (PCs) will be used to determine if you have met the requirements of the PO.
Following each flight (known as a Check Ride) your Flight Examiner (FE) will rate you using one of the following proficiency levels as directed in A/OA-10 – Aircrew Evaluation Criteria: AFI11-2A-OA-10V2:
Qualified (Q): Performance is correct. Quickly recognizes and corrects errors.
Qualified Minus (Q-): Performance is safe, but indicates limited proficiency. Makes errors of omission or commission.
Unqualified (U): Performance is unsafe or indicates lack of knowledge or ability.
In addition for any flight missions:
Qualified (Q): Altitude +/- 200 feet, Airspeed +/- 5%, Course +/- 5 degrees / 3 NM (whichever is greater)
Qualified Minus (Q-): Altitude +/- 300 feet, Airspeed +/- 10%, Course +/- 10 degrees / 5 NM (whichever is greater)
Unqualified (U): Exceeded Q- limits
Phase 3 - Advanced Aircraft Training has the following stages:
Advanced Flight Training Stage
AFT01 - Air to Air Refueling Day
AFT02 - Air to Air Refueling Night
AFT03 - Countermeasures and Threat Avoidance
AFT04 - Target Area Ingress Preparation

AAT06 - AA Gun and Missile Employment
Surface Attack Stage:
AAT07 - Gun & Rocket Employment
AAT08 - Unguided Bomb Employment
AAT09 - Guided Bomb Employment
AAT10 - Missile Employment
At the completion of this phase you will be considered Basic Mission Capable (BMC).
Good luck Stud. You are going to need it!
V1.0 Notes:
This is Part A, you will need Part B as well for the full campaign.
File includes a printable A-10C Amplified Checklist pdf in A5 format.
You will need to install a license and purchase a mission key to install these missions.
A mission key can be purchased for $4.99 USD at http://mapleflagmissions.ca
Select the “Request a License or Mission Key” link for details.
Your Mission Key will work for both Part A and Part B of the campaign.

Heres some more cool pics of the F-15 in FC3 and some dogfighting. The F-15 3d pit is awesome and the 3d model is extremely detailed especially when you get hit by something. Its great news that the SU27 is getting a new 3d model and 6dof pit as its weird flying non 6dof pits after using the F-15C.

F-15 is awesome especially when using TWS mode and engaging more than one tgt with Aim120s.(RALTi to go to TWS mode) I needed this mode to beat the instant action mission with 2 SU27s and 2 TU22s. Pity we cannot setup a Auto countermeasures program like in the A-10C on the TEWs so I'm having to push the button to dump chaff/flares. Radar burn through on the SU27 ECM is quite close you do not have much time to launch the missiles before they are firing back at you. At least they are stuck with semi active radar missiles so they can only go after one at a time unless they are using HOJ. As for the FM the F-15 in FC3 seems more powerful and climbs better than the FC2 version so finally it climbs IMO the way it should.
-
Are these AESA modelled radars for the Eagles? I need to get that download, got to find my old copy of LOMAC first!
-
No its not AESA, its the earlier block F-15C.
-
A 2nd campaign the advanced stage to the BFT campaign, heres a video of one of the missions.
Advanced Flight Training Stage
AFT01 - Air to Air Refueling Day
AFT02 - Air to Air Refueling Night
AFT03 - Countermeasures and Threat Avoidance
AFT04 - Target Area Ingress Preparation
AFT05 - Illumination Flare Employment
Air to Air Combat Stage:
AAT06 - AA Gun and Missile Employment
Surface Attack Stage:
AAT07 - Gun & Rocket Employment
AAT08 - Unguided Bomb Employment
AAT09 - Guided Bomb Employment
AAT10 - Missile Employment
Note the g warm up. 8)
-
I still need to buy that. Nice vid, I hope you were breathing correctly in the G warm???
-
Its a very cool campaign although the most challenging pilot training program for any sim ever made. The missions are quite realistic and immersive and you have to rampstart and shut down in every mission. Its good to see that it has come a long way since the 1st BFT mission where I had to taxi behind a Humvee.
-
I know this forum is not about DCS but since there is A Thread.
There is a BIG sale on all DCS product until 30 june.
