A major hardware change usually requires a reactivation, and if you don't reformat your system, you will simply have to reply YES to the activation question when prompted.

This will normally consume one of your 6 available activations BUT if you use the "Deactivate" option on the Addon Manager BEFORE upgrading your hardware, no activations will be consumed.
