Open Beta version release soon 5 June 2011
http://indiafoxtecho.blogspot.com/2011/06/open-beta-version-release-soon.html
"The Beta build of the T-45 is ready (and it will be an open Beta), but I have decided to delay its release for a day or two as I am compiling its flight manual. It will be an 80 pages flight manual based on the first 8 chapters of the real T-45C NATOPS - and it will closely replicate its structure and its contents, with clear indication of the differences between the real and the virtual Goshawk. It will cover general information, systems descriptions, operating limitations, standard and special procedures and flight characteristics - but will not cover emergency procedures, all-weather operations, communication & navigation equipment and procedures and weapon systems. It is almost ready - just few more hours of work and its done..."

Sweet.

hey mate Nice work but How do I download as I cant see it at all :(
Thanks

A little fun so I made a little video
-
Anyone else seeing this VC issue? I updated my video drivers but it didn't change anything? Ideas?
-
A guess, do you have Acceleration?
-
I have Acceleration, I ran the last T-45C by Dino no problem.

For the Nimitz carrier, I set Tacan 57 on Frequency112.0 Radio. No display on the HUD. Herb

Hi Herbie--
If I understand correctly, this T-45C beta uses the Accel default Hornet HUD and MFD. However this doesn't work completely correct as the MFD has a problem with the engine page while the HUD doesn't have the AOA "E" bracket.
As Dino suggests the advanced freeware HUD can be added if you find the correct one for the Goshawk. I think it is somewhere on this forum somewhere.
Dino will be releasing an improved Goshawk at a later time as he has corrected some things.
For freeware it is very good, especially as it is a carrier plane !
-
Yes, I have the same (TACAN) problem with Dino's new plane, although it is a great plane. Thank you Dino if you read this. Adapting the advanced HUD could probably work in 2D, I am not sure about the VC. I am sure improvements will be coming.

-
What's up with the HUD moving off the screen when you climb or descend? Is that happening with everyone else?
-
Dino mentions the next release will be changed, many improvements, a new HUD is being worked on, but a release date isn't mentioned.
-
I like the new bird, but it would be really sweet if it used the HUD symbology we have in the sludge hornet IMHO.
I looked in the panel file to see if there was an easy way to replace the t45 hud with the F/a-18 hud but I could not tell where the HUD file is being called from in the panel.cfg file, it is not very similar to other vc file formats. Has anyone had any luck replacing the t45 HUD with the f/a-18s HUD symbology?
Also I like the t45c mirror reflections in the VC, is there an easy way to replace the f/a-18 mirrors with these?

Hi Capt, Dino's T-45 will have its own native HUD 8) I hope it will be included in his next release ;D

And i am sure we can all guess who is creating it ;)
Glad to hear that news..Cant wait for the next release with the new Hud!
Thanks neutrino

And I can attest to the top notch work J.R.'s put into it. You're going to love it!

T-45C cleared to taxi and hold short
http://indiafoxtecho.blogspot.com/2011/07/t-45c-cleared-to-taxi-and-hold-short.html
"Yesterday night I've finally completed a T-45C build that I consider good for release. Not all of the bugs have been squashed, but most of them are - and I think the overall quality is much better than the test version. There are a lot of changes with respect of the Beta build, and all of them have been carefully evaluated and implemented. To name a few:
- There is a new, custom made collimated HUD courtesy of Jivko Rusev and Scott Printz. The new HUD is almost identical to the real one, and has a "gun simulation" mode. Also, Jivko provided code to have a working Data Entry Panel (Bingo, LAW, CRS and HDG can be entered in using the keypad as in the real plane)
- There are a lot of improvements in the virtual cockpit: more clickable switches, more functionalities, more accurate caution/advisory light systems, some minor visual details. It is still far from being perfect, but it is definitely better.
- The visual model is improved, too and now there are optional (cosmetic) bomb racks, baggage pod and a several repaints, including CoNA ones.
- The flight model is better, too, with enhanced engine dynamics, drag table and much more accurate landing speeds (once again thanks to Jivko).
So, it is ready for release - but I still need to update the manual, write the readme file, zip and test the whole thing etc. - I'll do that asap. I am not sure when, but definitely it will be within the next weekend."

Its released !

Check out the new extended trailer :)
-
Very nice bird, although it seems to bury the front tires in the tarmac a bit and sit with a tail high attitude.
-
I'm wondering do I have the T45 installed correctly, In the Readme it says to unzip (Extract ??) to FSX/Sim Objects/Airplanes folder, but when I do that it doesn't show up in the FSX planes menu, but when I unzip it to a temp folder on my desktop then copy & paste the Boeing T-45C folder into the FSX/Sim Objects/Airplanes folder it shows up, also the readme says move the fx_navorange_t45.fx from the Boeing T45 effects folder to the FSX effects folder, what about the other .fx files in the T-45 effects folder, shouldn't they be put somewhere too ?. Thanks guys
-
Haha, nice job with the extended version J.R.! :D
-
You did the right thing, unzipping to a Temp-folder Copy the Boeing T-45C to the airplanes folder. The 4 .fx files are going to FSX/Effects-folder. (Not the whole folder you received) Herb

Not in my Computer. I'm on the Nimitz. Herb

Ok, I did put the fx_navorange_t45.fx into the FSX Effects folder, but do I also need to put the fx_beacon_t45, fx_strobe_t45 & fx_vclight_t45 into the FSX Effects folder as well ?
-
Yes, All those .fx files go into FSX Effects-folder. I said 4 .fx files before. Herb

Thanks Herb, I guess those other lights are somewhat optional, seeing the strobe in the cockpit could be annoying to some, realistic to others ?

Update from version 2.00 to version 2.01 (only aircraft.cfg changes, gets rid of nose gear sinking too much into runways)
http://indiafoxtecho.blogspot.com/2011/07/t-45c-version-200-download-link.html
Small "Aircraft.cfg" from above source attached here. Otherwise the entire file can be unnecessarily downloaded again if required.

Fellas...
Downloaded/installed and flew with this gem today. Combine this with Serge's upcoming vLSO, you'll have some of the best FSX Naval Aviation aircraft/tools out there, bar none. Best of all, if you have acceleration, its all free.
Gonna buy Dino's F-35 and contribute some to his paypal account. Great work like this needs to be rewarded. Also, big Thanks JR and Scott for all your contributions to Dino's work. Without you fellas, we'd be stuck in summer 09 version of FSX.
God forbid someone did "realistic" T-34C's or Texan II's, we'd have the entire naval aviation pipeline from Primary/Intermediate, Advanced/Strike, RAG, then Fleet. One can only wish.

Why the Goshawk HUD show Alpha 10.8 When the Plane is Flying level? The Sludge show Alpha 3.4 same flight-location. Herb
-
Herbie, Initially the difference with Hornet compared to some other Naval aircraft had me confused until it was pointed out that the Hornet uses 'degrees' of AoA rather than perhaps a more common or older usage of 'units' of AoA as seen in the T-45C (& A4G for example). Here is NATOPS T-45C quote with relevant PDF pages attached:
T-45C Goshawk NATOPS
"2.21.2 AOA Controls and Indicators.
2.21.2.1 AOA Indicator. The AOA indicator
functions throughout the entire flight regime to
display AOA information, see Figure 2-38. The
indicator registers units of AOA to the relative
airstream, from 0 to 30 units. An OFF flag is
visible if electrical power is lost. The indicator is
set with the optimumunit setting at the 3 o’clock
position. Both cockpit AOA indicators independently
receive their input from the AOA probe.
2.21.2.2 AOA Indexer. The AOA indexer,
located on the glareshield in both cockpits, consists
of three indexer lights; the upper chevron
(e) is green and indicates a high (≥18 units)
AOA, the center donut (O) is amber and indicates
the optimum(17 units) AOA, and the lower
chevron (d) is red and indicates a low (≤16
units) AOA. Two intermediate conditions are
also indicated by illuminations of the donut (O)
with the upper or lower chevron. Dimming control
of the indexer lights is achieved by a four
position lever mounted next to the lights. Moving
the lever up brightens the lights. The indexer
includes press-to-test light capability. Both
cockpit indexers receive their input from the
forward cockpit AOA indicator. The indexers
provide the principal reference for controlling
airspeed during landing approaches."
-
For comparison here is the AoA detail from F/A-18A/B/C/D Hornet NATOPS.
NATOPS FLIGHT MANUAL NAVY MODEL F/A-18A/B/C/D 15 Sept 2008
http://info.publicintelligence.net/F18-ABCD-000.pdf
"2.12.10 Angle-Of-Attack (AOA) Indexer. The AOA indexer (figure 2-19) is mounted to the left of the HUD. It displays approach angle of attack (AOA) with lighted symbols. Corresponding AOA indications are shown on the HUD. The indexer only operates with the landing gear down, W-off-W, a valid ADC AOA signal and a functional ADC. The lighted symbol(s) flash if the arresting hook is up and the hook bypass switch, on the left vertical panel, is in CARRIER. The symbols do not flash with the arresting hook up and the hook bypass switch in FIELD. The switch is solenoid held to FIELD and automatically goes to CARRIER when the arresting hook is lowered or aircraft power is removed. The
AOA indexer knob on the HUD controls dimming of the symbols. All symbols light when the lights test switch on the interior lights control panel is held to TEST.
NOTE
On aircraft 161353 THRU 161519 without the latest configuration of
air data computer installed, a discrepancy exists between optimum
approach angle indications provided by the angle-of-attack bracket on
the HUD and the angle-of-attack indexer lights. Thus, flying On Speed
(velocity vector centered in AOA bracket) on the HUD produces a
Slightly Slow indication on the indexer lights. On the other hand,
flying On Speed on the indexer lights results in a slightly fast
indication by the HUD AOA bracket display. Use of either instrument
to set up the optimum approach angle is considered acceptable.
&
Angle of attack. True angle of attack in degrees is displayed at the left center of the HUD. The primary source for this information is the ADC. If the ADC produces invalid AOA outputs, the MC uses FCC information to derive the AOA display. There is no pilot queuing when the MC switches AOA sources from ADC to FCC because both components get AOA information from the AOA probes. For lower AOA values, HUD AOA is an average of the AOA probe readings received by the ADC. Above 34° AOA, HUD AOA is estimated and provided by the INS."

Hello Spaz!
Thank you very much for posting the Info. This is a new information for me. I did downloaded your Manual Navy for the T-45. I will go through it tomorrow in details. I understand now the different between the T-45C and FA-18 Hornet. Herb
-
Thanks to all posters. I think I'm flying the pattern better although I'm still too far out yet closer than before. Speed was a little low on final line-up, I think, as I was trying for 120 KIAS.
The new T-45C will soon have an update correcting a few things.

Hey Wily, the speed brakes on the T-45 are always extended on carrier landings. With the speed bakes on, your approach speed will match the speeds in the table :)
-
Next flight as per instrucyion from LSO (neutrino, previous post).
On turning to line-up, fuel 93%, AoA 6.8, full flaps, speed brake open 131 KIAS.
A few seconds later----
Wave off, too high, too far right, too fast (from pilots point of view).
AoA 7.1, 134 KIAS, rate of descent too high
-
Hello Wily!
Did you read above from Spaz about the Indexer? I tried with Half speed-break and had a green chevron and a blinking donuts, my Indexer was 18 units on final. On both of your pictures, I do not see the Indexer. i installed the Carrier Landing Gauge from the FA/18 to the T-45C just to see what wire I'm catching. Herb

Is this what you write about? It is there at the start but disappears over time.

Instructor cockpit incoming... and a note to repainters (if any)
Thanks for your appreciation and support!
http://indiafoxtecho.blogspot.com/2011/07/instructor-cockpit.html (http://indiafoxtecho.blogspot.com/2011/07/instructor-cockpit.html)
FYI due to a couple of (unusually) rainy days, I've been working on the instructor cockpit, too.
Since the two cockpits are similar but not identical, in order to optimize texture usage there will be changes in the VC texture layout.
External texture layout will not be changed.
As for the missing LAW and BINGO sound, these are lower priorities for me at the moemnt. I'll see what I can do...but these may not be present in the next update.
