Hello
First of all, thanks for the establisment of this site. It has been a tremendous help to me and my team. Myself and a few other guys are just getting a FSX Blue Angels team off the ground (Yeah, I know, ANOTHER ONE!). The problem I am running into is when we have an online multiplayer session and I try to record our practice sessions. Sometimes my computer will display everyone with their correct numbers, but most of the time, my computer will display all of the jets as #1 even though each member has selected the correct number jet. Also, I am having the same problem with the position lights on the vert. stabs. and wings...some of the planes show flashing lights and some do not even after all members turn off all their lights by pressing the "L" key twice. You will notice both of these problems in one of our most recent videos here at our website http://www.fsxblueangels.com/videos.htm (http://www.fsxblueangels.com/videos.htm). Do any of you guys know how to remedy these problems? Any help would be appreciated.

Check out this link at the FSDeveloper site.
http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=Texture.cfg_-_FSX
They talk about a couple of known bugs, one which is the "fallback path" being wrong in all FSX's original texture.cfg files, and the other bug sounding like the one you are describing. I am not sure if the two are related but they have a couple of suggestions that sound as if it might fix some of these problems.
Hope this helps.
Nice vids by the way - loved that crossover move (if that's the right way to describe it) in your "Recent practice recordings" video - did you have any pile-ups before you got that right?!!!

WELL THAT DOES IT!!! I was trying to do the same thing all by my lonesome with fsrecorder but there is just no way I can compete with you guys. Well done!!! :o

hey jimi
i can tell you this happens to me all the time. not only on multiplayer, but when i set traffic to max, and fsx tries to load many textures at the same time, it will turn all of them to the default main texture (the only Texture, not the texture.something) wich is the #1 blue angel in this case, but it happens with all the planes. i dont know what to do to fix it, but i would try to rename this folder and leave no Texture folder. of course, the textures that are common to all the planes (such as VC textures) are located in this folder, so I THINK you would have to copy em to all the other folders. well, im just guessing, trying to figure out a solution, but im not really sure if this works
OR you could just leave the texture folder there, and create a new one for the first texture (blue angel #1) with the specific textures only, but i dont know if everyone would have to do the same, or what

Thanks alot for the help and the compliments. Hopefully they will work when I try them out this evening.

jimi, did any of these suggestions work?
I wonder if a graphics card with more memory on it for textures might also help? What's your spec? Also, maybe some tweaks to the FSX.CFG file too, to improve texture handling. FSInsider site (and others) have a few tweaks along those lines.
These are just random thoughts - don't slam me if I'm talking complete Fort Biloxi!!
-
not fsx.cfg but you can tweak each of the textures .cfg file, typing the right path for the common textures, as said on that link above

Nah, fael, I was actually meaning the FSX.CFG file. You can tweak settings there that affect FSX performance but some of the tweaks are related to texture handling.
There are a few of these webpages around, and some of the tweaks "might" be of some value if you're having texure display problems.
Here's a couple of examples:

Actually, I am trying to read up on what all this stuff you guys are talking about. I am not too computer savvy. I just like flying. Our team is trying to make some videos and it would be nice to be able to show all jets with their correct numbers. If any of you find the solution AND can "dumb-it-down" for me, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again guys.

Jimi, I can do it for you. Add my msn.. MasterDuncan912@msn.com

leaving the main Texture folder just for the common textures and creating a texture.0 for the blue angel #1 worked for me, but if your comp sucks like mine, there will be a lot of blurry textures ;)
