I keep having a stupid building pop up in Terminal D. Can anyone help me?
-
It's difficult to understand what a "stupid building" is...does it look like something coming from another scenery ? In that case, be sure you don't have duplicate AFCADs for KDFW, which usually come with AI Traffic packages.
-
It's hard to describe, and I'm not sure how to make a picture. It looks like a default building in Downtown Dallas though. I have MegaScenery X DFW though.
-
Ok, be sure you keep KDFW over Megascenery. But also check for double AFCADs.
-
I got an AFCAD from Flightsim.com, but I can't find it.
Thanks for the Fast replies.
-
Still no luck. I'm going to uninstall, then reinstall MegasceneryX and see if that helps.
-
Surely your not talking about the Hyatt hotel building sticking out the top are you?
If so, thats supposed to be there.
-
Not that, It's like the Terminal D addon for FS9 on AVSIM.
-
Go into FSX position yourself where you can see this building and press the V key, that will take a screen shot.
Then go into your My Doc/My Photos/FSX photos and copy that pic to your desktop. Then open the pic with paint, Infranview, or something like that and resave it as a jpg.
Then replie here and in this thread where you type the message click on the left side where it says Additional options. Hit the browse button and locate that pic on your desktop and hit open, then the post button. The Umberto can see what building your talking about.
-
Here are some pictures.
-
Glad you got he picture figured out, but you can make them a little bigger next time like 800X600 so its easier to see.
Anyway, after looking at the pic are you sure you dont have another ADE installed for KDFW like one by Ray Smith or Jim Cook?
Take a look in your Addon Scenery/Scenery folder to be sure. Because with out another ADE installed the default airport doesn't have a building there since ACES didn't include terminal D in the stock scenery.
Aside from that I cant imagine what could cause that. I have MegaScenery Dallas installed and mine doesn't have that.
-
There isn't anything in the Addon Scenery folder. Not sure where else to look.
-
Since you mentioned the Terminal D download from Avsim, do you remember ever installing it?
Maybe you put it in your FSX/Scenery/Global/Scenery folder.
Look in there for a file called KDFW_ADE_OBJ.BGL. If you find a file called that name in the FSX/Scenery/Global/Scenery folder delete it and see what happens.
-
I deleted it before I had those pictures posted.
-
Sorry man but i'm stumped. I can't think of anything else to try.
Maybe you need to download the program that can scan for duplicate ADE's/AFCADS's. I dont remember what its called but I think its by ScruffyDuck and its free.
Aside from that Umberto will probably have to help you since I cant think of anything else to look for.
I am guessing you dont have anything else installed for that area? If you disable FSDT's KDFW in the scenery menu does that building still exist?
-
I'm not sure what that software is. I can't find it on the web either. Virtuali, can you help?
-

Sean, you're thinking of FSX Airport Scanner from http://www.downloadcenter.scruffyduck.org.uk/.
Alexander, this utility will search active (inactive on request) scenery folders and list duplicate airport scenery BGLs. If you like, it can also "remove" airport BGLs by moving them to an unused folder. (Easily restorable later.)
I don't think it would be useful for non-airport BGL files, but I run it after each install to sweep away the old.
OTOH, if you deleted a scenery file but you think the scenery still appears, could it be that you had the scenery cached??
-
That's surely looks like a default terminal buildings so, it's not coming from our scenery but, most likely, a duplicate AFCAD which is taking precedence.
First, be sure you have KDFW on Top of every other layer in the Scenery Library (which is where the installer puts it by default)
Then, use any of the already mentioned .BGL scanning tools, to find if you have other AFCADs files for KDFW. Note that, they usually come with AI traffic packs (like My Traffic, for example) so, you might have one, even if you don't recall having it installed yourself.
-
I'm not sure what that is or where to get it. Any idea's anyone ??? ? Terminal D was the main reason I bought this.
-
If it's not Megascenery ( have you tried disabling it ? ) then it's surely another AFCAD for KDFW, see the above messages for instruction how to find it.
-
Here is my recommendation:
1. Take all the files contained in the Addon Schenery folder and place them in a temporary folder.
2. Keep the Addon Scenery folder there - just empty.
3. Launch FSX/FS9 and take a look and see if the weird BLDG still appears.
4. If it still appears, you can place your Addon Scenery files back because that is nto where the problem lies.
5. If the buiding no longer appears, then you know that your problem lies in one of the files found inside the Addon Scenery folder and at that point you need to start adding the files back into FSX/FS9 little by little until you find the culprit. It's a pain, but it's the only way I have solved these sort of issues before.
6. If the problem has nothing to do withthe Addon Scnery folder, you need to look inside of the Scenery/World/Scenery folder to see if there are any DFW files remaining there. Also look inside your Scenery/Global/Scenery folder as well. If all else fails, look for other scenery packages that may be active and that may have suspect files that could impact the DFW area.
7. One more thing.............I had a similar issue happen to me recently with the KSEA airport, where this HUGHE Mammoth building would appear right smack inthe middle of the airport. It turned out to be another scenery I downloaded from AVSIM for an airport in India that was causing the problem in Seattle, so, you may be looking at a witch hunt here.
Hope this helps!

I did install some DAL runway thing, but I have no clue where to find it.
-
Here is what I downloaded,: kdal_ade_rs_rs.zip. Do you know if that would be a problem?
-
Could very well be as it is an AFCAD file.

-
Do you know where the files would be stored?
-
Allringt, there is Nothing in my Addon Scenery folder other than FlyTampa TNCM and VHHX. There is nothing that is relative to KDFW in the Scenery/Global folder either. Is it supposed to be like that.
-

Yes, we don't have any .BGL outside our own fsdreamteam\kdfw folder. In any case, looking just in those location, it's not enough. A scenery in conflict could be located anywhere: as long its folder is listed as "active" in the Scenery Library, any file in any of those folder can potentially create a conflict.
The only way to look for such files, would be using the free FSX Airport Scanner, available here:
http://www.scruffyduckscenery.co.uk/ (click the "Download Center" link )
-
According to the latest one, I have alot of duplicates. ???
-
How do I know which files to rename, or delete? ???
-
Speaking of KDFW, you should delete everything, except:
- The default AFCAD for KDFW, name fsx\scenery\0202\scenery\APX22200.bgl
- Our AFCAD for KDFW, name fsx\fsdreamteam\KDFW\scenery\AP_KDFW.bgl
-
It includes all others too.
-
It includes all others too.
Not sure I'm following you.
-
It includes other addons too.
-
I still have this issue, but I guess there isn't really much to do, than say, get off the screen. LOL. So nobody had this problem?
-
I cant believe your still having the problem with the building. Since you hadn't posted in a while I though you figured it out.
Why dont you take some screen shots showing what the results are from the Scruffysuck program?
Have you kept track of all the stuff you have installed into FSX as far as sceneries?
Maybe you could post a screen shot of your FSX/Scenery/Global/Scenery folder, Addon Scenery/Scenery folder, and a copy of your Scenery.cfg located in your C:\Documents and Settings\All usewers\Aplication Data\Microsoft\FSX.
There has got to be something there that you are overlooking or not seeing.

It still looks the exact same, and I don't know which files to delete still.
-
Seeing your scenery.cfg doesn't help much, the offending .BGL might be inside ANY of these folders.
-
It still looks the exact same, and I don't know which files to delete still.
Where's your entry for FSDreamteam KDFW in the scenery.cfg?
Why dont you run the utility for finding the double afcads and post a screen shot showing what it says?
-
I don't know how to make a screenshot like that.
-
Run the program that looks for the duplicates, then when it shows the results, hit the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard. Then open up the default Microsoft Paint program go to Edit and select paste and it will paste the screen you took a picture of. The save it as a jpeg and post it here. Dont resize it so small that you can barely read it though.
By the way, where's your entry for FSDreamteam KDFW in the scenery.cfg? Have you uninstalled it becuase if you haven't unistalled it there should be an entry for it?
Somthing else you can try since you are running MegaScenery Dallas. Go to the MegaScenery Dallas\Scenery folder and look for a file called dallas-FSX.BGL . Take that file and remane it to dallas-FSX.BAK or just drag it over to your desk top. I am running the same MegaScenery Dallas package and I remember a long time ago reading that that file can cause issues with something else. I dont remember exactly what it was, but I have had that file removed from my MegaScenery Dallas\Scenery folder for as long as I can remember. Its worth a try.

I was wondering what ever happened to you since it had been so long since your last post. I figured you finally had gotten rid of the problem with the building showing up at Terminal D.
Maybe a fresh install of FSX will do the trick. I still have a feeling that you had a rogue AFCAD somewhere mixed in your install that you couldn't locate.
Here's what I would do though. After you install FSX and all the service packs, GEX, REX, and UTX assuming that you use any or all of those, I would install your FSDT sceneries first and make sure they all work ok and you dont have the same problem with Terminal D. Then assuming KDFW is ok, then begin to add in your other sceneries and keep a log on a note pad of what you installed and when you installed it. That way if a problem like the one you had comes up along the way, you can look at the list of things you installed and begin to remove them starting with the last one first and see what is causing the conflict at Terminal D or any other airport you may encounter a problem with. Makes it a lot easier to trouble shoot problems in the future.
Once all you sceneries are installed you can then go back and rearrange the layers if you need to. I generally start installing airports and scenery going from West to East, meaning that I will install sceneries for airports and photosceneries beginning with California and then start working my way across the world going West, making sure to always keep photosceneries in a layer below and airport scenery for the same area. For me arranging them in this fashion makes it easier to keep track of what I have installed for a given area and its easier to look at when viewing you scenery.cfg.

I had almost the same problem. I did a search of my addon scenery/scenery and found an afcad which I had previously downloaded.
After I deleted this file the bldg was gone.

Well, once I somehow get my computer fixed, I'll reinstall fsx and try to do it again.

Alright, it turns out it was a hard drive problem, so I got a new one in, now I have ran into another problem, since I got one and didn't save anything to the new one, I have no Windows OS, I have the recovery disc, and I tried to run it, and once it got to the part that asks how I want to recover everything, it only has one option clickable, exit. :-[ Can anyone help me? I have a Gateway DX4300-05 model computer, and Windows Vista 64x bit Home Premium, I would love to be able to fly again.
