Title: single engine
Post by: Pop on July 09, 2010, 02:30:06 pm
We, FSX Fleet VFA 97, are working on training for an engine loss.  We had explored using the Throttle as "engine axis #1" and the throttle wheel on the joystick, as "engine axis #2". This works well, but if #2 (or #1) is reduced to flt idle, the Yaw seems a bit high for engines so close together.  Has any one modified the aircraft so to reduce the yaw?  (maybe the .air file)??? ;D

Hi Pop,

A simple tweak you could make to alter the yaw effect under said circumstances is to alter the engine datum points in the aircraft.cfg file.

If you reduce the separation distances (values 2.5 and -2.5) then the yaw will also decrease.

[GeneralEngineData]
engine_type = 1
Engine.0 = -35.8, -2.5, -0.1
Engine.1 = -35.8,  2.5, -0.1
fuel_flow_scalar        = 1.0
min_throttle_limit = 0

There are probably other ways to achieve same result but this may be the easiest.

How about a mission with engine loss like in the Tactical approach mission.
