Hi guys,
Since the last update yesterday I get error messages every time I start FSX / GSX: "Failed to load image from file "...\Addon Manager/texture\thumbnails\...\*.png"
545 image errors over all.
I triggered the Live Updater again afterwards. However, the problem remains. :-\
Any suggestions on how to solve this issue?
Thanks in advance!
-
same problem for me, lots of files could not load
-
Hi!
Exactly the same issue (P3Dv4; GSX 2.7.1; Windows 10).
Any help?
Thanks!

Most likely the antivirus, that must have blocked the installation of the latest installer, which downloads the operator thumbnails as part of the update.
Configure the antivirus to add the whole Addon Manager folder to the EXCLUSIONS
Run the FSDT Installer again, and choose Update
If that doesn't work, try to install the OFFLINE installer on our site, then start the Installer again, and do another Update Check. Pay attention to the update process, and see if the operator Thumbnails are being downloaded.
-
Umberto, have you seen in the error logs that the folder seperator for the texture folder looks strange. Should that not be an \ instead of an /??
'E:\Utilitaires\Addon Manager/texture\thumbnails\handling\default_gsx.png'
-
Same problem here and I agree with BerndB that the path looks incorrect.
But, I don't have a thumbnails subfolder beneath texture. I have catering, handling, jetwaylogo and plates.
The program is looking for something that doesn't exist ignoring the path designator.
Update run so this is the current version.
P3D v5.3HF2.

Same problem here confimed, antivirus excludes present.

I downloaded the new installer (nice interface!) but it took a while to run so I didn’t watch it throughout. After it finished I started P3D v5.3HF2 but the error message remains and there is no thumbnails folder.

I confirm this, however I watched the installer and did catch any of those (might have missed it too, to be honest it was fast).
There is an update about to drop, hopefully it sorts us out..

@Ioan92, with a corrected path I reckon. / instead of \.
-
Negative, i checked in the install and they were missing. Theres a new update which includes the missing handlers, guve it a try.

I can’t see this problem resolved in the latest release…

Resolved after running Live Update this afternoon. ;D I now have a thumbnail folder under texture.
-
I'm having the same problem since yesterday and would agree with the earlier comment that it's a path problem. The developer used a forward slash in front of texture instead of a backslash.
I've rerun the FSDT Live Update twice tonight and the problem is not resolving itself.... still missing the ..\texture\thumbnails\ folder which is where all these problems stem from. Downloading and installing the offline installer seems to have replaced some of the missing folders and when that finished, it automatically ran an update which seems to have installed the rest.
Thank you,
Jas

I think you have to run a new executable in the Addon Manager folder. Previously it was Couatl_Updater.exe but I still had the reminder popping up in P3D to run it.
The new installer is Couatl_Updater2.exe. Try that.

Just an update... I downloaded the FSDT Universal Installer from the FSDT website and ran it... after doing an UPDATE ALL I got my thumbnails folder back and am no longer getting the error messages.

I’m thinking this new universal installer now replaces the old one. Perhaps @virtuali could confirm please.

That's not the problem, forward/backward slashes are automatically handled in Python file handling in Windows and, for all intent and purposes, are exactly the same. The problem was likely your ran an update for P3D before we completed the upload with the latest operators.

I followed this instruction and it works except for one file (WHITE.png):
If that doesn't work, try to install the OFFLINE installer on our site, then start the Installer again, and do another Update Check. Pay attention to the update process, and see if the operator Thumbnails are being downloaded.

When I started P3D this morning I had another update prompt. After I finished with P3D I launched the standard updater and it went through the usual stuff. But at the end it remained on screen saying it had successfully updated everything.
Hopefully that’s it done now.

Hi,
I'm now also getting this pop-up show when P3D v4.5 loads...
07:32:47: can't open file 'F:\Utilities\FSDT\Addon Manager/texture\thumbnails\handling\LUFTHANSA_LEOS.png' (error 0: the operation completed successfully.)
07:32:47: Failed to load image from file "F:\Utilities\FSDT\Addon Manager/texture\thumbnails\handling\LUFTHANSA_LEOS.png".
Tried running live update and re-checking a few times with the same result. The file is missing from the location in the error.
Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks

@preynolds, Umberto gave this info in an earlier post. Fixed it for me.
"If that doesn't work, try to install the OFFLINE installer on our site, then start the Installer again, and do another Update Check. Pay attention to the update process, and see if the operator Thumbnails are being downloaded."
-
Hi Ray,
Thanks, just tried that and didn't get any error :)
Interestingly the file in my error still doesn't exist, so I guess whatever was calling the png file needed updating, rather than the file being required. Either way, things look to be working now.
Thanks again.
Phil

The PNG files are there, something else is wrong.

I uninstalled and tried to use the FSDT Installer, it does not install P3D airports. I still have the same issue. Maybe Windows 11 does not work. I can just disable GSX since I still get error. All the files are in place and I did add Addon Manager to exclusions

...Addon Manager/texture\thumbnails\handling......

I am have the same issue with the Couatl module being disabled.
I am using the DFW scenery from FSDT. When my default A/C loads, the scenery is fine, all the buildings are there. I then try to load my QS 787-9 A/C. That's when all of the DFW scenery goes away and the COUATL module appears to been de-activated from within P3D 4.5.
I also tried this with a PDMG 777 and it appears to do the same thing...
I have attached the log showing the errors
-
I keep getting this error pop-up.
-
Same here. P3d V6 latest patch.
I am now using the Updater2 in Admin mode. Runs OK to the end but throws the error.

As I've said in all previous posts, if you are missing the thumbnails, it's a problem in your local network node OR you antivirus is blocking the latest updater to "update itself" so:
- Configure the antivirus to have the whole FSDT Addon manager folder added to the antivirus EXCLUSIONS
- Run the FSDT Live Update again.
- If that still doesn't work, DOWNLOAD and install the latest OFFLINE installer. It contains all thumbnails, it's just not possible you would see this error by using it.
But it must downloaded and installed again after the date of its latest version, which should be obvious, since it's completely offline, it doesn't have the ability to update itself, so you must redownload it each time there's even the smallest update.
-
Nothings has changed on my network or AV settings. This has been working before.
I have also downloaded the offline Installer and re-run it.
Still getting the same error as previously posted.

I guess you really didn't read my post. I have already downloaded, installed, and re-run the offline full installer.
I am still getting the same issue. And again, nothing has changed in the way my security settings and AV are set up.
-
I guess you really didn't read my post. I have already downloaded, installed, and re-run the offline full installer.
Of course I read it but, since what you are saying it's just not possible, if you are really using the latest Offline installer, the only possible explanation would be you are either running an outdated version, of you downloaded the latest version but are starting an older one.
I'll repeat it again: the current version of the Offline installer ( and with "current", I mean the one being updated today, because the Offline installer MUST be re-downloaded every time there's a new update ) SURELY does contain ALL the thumbnails, this is certain.
-
Well i have tried just about everything you have asked...
When i load a PDMG AA 777, i get a popup saying a certain png file doesn't exist in the thumbnail directory.
And also, my KCLt scenery( which is a FSDT product) also gets erased to the default base scenery from ORBX....
I am at a lost since i can't fly anything.
I re-raun the offline installer again. Re-ran P3D 4.5 . Switched to KCLT and loaded my plane.. Attached is popup window...

Have the same issue with the latest updates different textures missing with every update. Solved local with the offline installer. Started 4 versions back. Will post logfiles next time looks like the servers aren’t updated related to the new stuff added in GSX
