Title: Buildings appear only when getting close

I just bought JFK for FSX and a few seconds after I load the scenery, the buildings disappear. Addons used include ASX, Wilco Airbus Series 1, FSCopilot/FSIn, FSUIPC and VAFS, which runs in the backgrounds outside of FSX

Are you running FSX into any of the Compatibility modes ?

If yes, disable any compatibility mode for FSX, by right-click on the FSX.EXE file, select "Properties" and deselect everything in the "Compatibility" tab, which is how FSX is installed by default.

Nope, I'm not using compatibility mode. I'm actually quite good with computers.

I tried it again, and it seems whats happening is that buildings are vanishing until I get close. I'm not sure if this is some sort of occlusion technique or a bug, but I'd like to disable it unless critical for frames.

The question about using the compatibility mode, wasn't meant to imply you are not good with computers...

There's are no bugs in the distance checks. However, your problem seems to be exactly like this ones, reported by two users, and solved in exactly the same way:

Are you using Active Sky Advanced ?

Sorry for the late reply. I'm using Active Sky X.  Also, I don't seem to be seeing the gate numbers.
