Title: Quad Core Question Q6600 vs. Q9650?????????
Post by: juniormafia27 on March 10, 2010, 11:39:50 pm
Hi guys.  I have a question.  I am running a Q6600 2.4ghz chipset and looking to upgade to a Q9650 3.0ghz, in order to run FSX a lot better.  I am building an i7 computer on the side.  But I want to upgrade the one I have now in the meantime.  I want to know if anyone else has made the jump and how it is performing compared to the Q6600.  My computer specs are listed in the signiture.  Thanks in advance.

I went from a Q6700 to a Q9650 and couldnt be happier.  The Q6700 is a great chip, but the Q9650 really put FSX into orbit for me.  Better, sharper looking scenery and great FPS all around, even in Blueprint's KMEM.  Be sure to put a decent vid card in it though, or it wont matter worth a crap.

Read around though.  I have seen plenty of write-ups to back up the fact that FSX doesnt run all that much better on an i7 rig as opposed to a Q9650.

Hello Gents,

Yes, i agree with B6679, the most important is a "super" video card, buy the best on today's market, or try to OC the I7 to 4.0Ghz...that's make a difference.
Cheers,

Cheers,

I have a EVGA 295 CO OP and a 250.  But I was advised to roll with a 285 for the purpose of FSX...Good enough?
