"Subject: FW: Drone Controllers
These controllers are in Nevada and are flying a drone thousands of miles away in the combat zone in Afghanistan . The pilot's left hand is on the throttle controlling the drone's engine, note all the buttons which perform various tasks without removing the hand from the throttle. His right hand is flying the plane. The girl is the sensor controller, modern day ROI. Aerial warfare has changed."

Guys,
She was cute....but I digress. In my military job I deal with UAV's all the time and I can say that I know some FSX/F4AF/Gamers that would have zero problem with flying drones. The transition phase would be short.
The graphics/IG they were using comes from the same company that makes our JTAC trainer graphics. In fact, I just came out of a three hour simulator event where we linked our sim with an A-10C simulator and practiced CAS attacks using targeting pod and visual cues. My squadron is the test bed for some of this technology and I see what we do in the gaming side and apply the same TTP's to the military side. For instance, I play a lot of ARMA and that's an excellent CAS trainer/mission planner. F4AF with a few mods, could be an excellent JTAC trainer. Bottom line is this.....with airframes going away and looming budget cuts...simulator training will gain in popularity and usefullness. The sky is the limit in this area.

I have the Abacus UAV Predator for FSX. I'd find more realism sitting in a cardboard box.

:D Its Abacus, can't really expect more then a basic box VC.

I have to agree with that comment about Abacus,,good enough for simming 3 or 4 years ago but defiantly not keeping up to speed with the rest.
Paco.. have you compared or at least tried the Lock on sim with the version you spoke of. I really love the A-10 and would love someone to release an up to date ,state of the art version of the Warthog

Intrepid,
I have not tried Lock On, but will shortly once ED comes out with Flaming Cliffs for Lock On. Eagle Dynamics (ED) makes Black Shark and the next module in the DCS series is the A-10C. The DCS aircraft are compatible in an MP environment with the Lock-On series. I have Black Shark and it's a switch by switch, study sim.....very good. The A-10C will be the same way. Can't wait until that comes out.
