What I have done is very simple.
I have 1 spare button on my yoke.
Using Spad.next I have assigned it to:
Normal press: increase sim rate
Long press: decrease sim rate.
(You can do that directly from MSFS settings using 2 buttons or keys if you don't use Spad.next or equivalent.)
Et voila! It works perfectly with GSX, no matter which airplane you fly.
😉
I use it to speeds up all the long GSX ground operations or to speed up taxis to gates when I don't have time.

You can do it even from the normal user interface, without any add-ons. Just go in the Controls, search for sim rate and assign increase and decreases to some key or joystick button.
I have them set to Button 38/38 then on the Saitek X52 Pro are up/down of the wheel at the right of the screen on the throttle.
