Title: COUATL SCRIPTING ENGINE HASN'T STARTED
Post by: Harrier77 on August 19, 2022, 11:29:54 am
When I select the GSX menu item in the MSFS toolbar I get the following message 'COUATL SCRIPTING ENGINE HASN'T STARTED'.

The installation of GSX seems ok based on the FSDT Universal Installer information.

Is there another step to perform before starting MSFS?

Are you able to start it manually from its icon ?

Sometimes it starts manually, sometimes not. Even with it started manually I get the same message.

Should I see anything apart from the Couatl Debug Window information?

You mean you got a window with an error ? What is it ?

You mentioned a "Couatl Debug Window", so I assumed you saw... a Window. So no, you don't have any window then.

- open the Notepad and type the following on a new blank file:

logFile=couatl.log

(please note logFile is written beginning with a lower case L and a capital F )

- Save the file as couatl_MSFS.ini in the %APPDATA%\Virtuali folder

- Restart Couatl from the Tray Bar or start it from its icon on the Desktop

- Check your %APPDATA%\Virtuali folder and if there's a Couatl.LOG file there, post its content

From your log:

Exception while creating airport cache: CreateFile failed: Access is denied: "\\?\C:\Users\gener\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community\justsim-airport-lfmn-nice\scenery\LFMN.BGL" (system:5)

This file must have a problem, maybe it's corrupted or has been locked from reading, so it prevents the completion of the airport cache, and without it, GSX can't work.

Hi Umberto,

Could you please have a look at my log file. I have been at this for 12 hours and still can't get it to work.

I've tried starting coatl from the start menu, also while in the sim, but it just shuts down.

Cheers

I have taken out the offending airport together with other third-party add-ons except for ones like Fenix, FS2Crew, and PMDG.

I still have the same problem, COUATL SCRIPTING ENGINE HASN'T STARTED.

I attach the latest log file.

So how do I sort this out?

I only updated GSX Pro about one hour ago.

your error has been discussed in several posts, and it's the sure indication you haven't got the latest files, because the servers in your area haven't completed sync all new files, see here:

http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,26480.msg173512.html#msg173512

and follow the suggestions there.

OK, thank you.

I have one question though, "Go into your Addon manager folder (the one you chose for the installation) and remove the whole folder", which folder? Is it the MSFS folder?

I do have GSX and level 2 installed for P3D.

Servers in the area of thousands of users are the reason GSX is not working.... LOL !! Isn´t that not even a little awkward to you, U ? Unbelievable!  My download link is valid til 21-09, will see whether that works up to this date.

The only thing "unbelievable" here is you haven't seem to notice we have an alternative OFFLINE installer, which obviously fixes the problem of not getting the latest files from the server.

What ELSE should we do to let you get the latest files ?

You missed the fact the installer is always freely available here. Fact it expires on Digital River is completely irrelevant.
