I run P3D V5.3 under Windows 10 and have updated GSX using FSDT Live Update. I now find that I cannot open the Add-ons -> GSX Menu when my aircraft is at the gate.
-
Please clarify:
- you DO have the GSX menu, but nothing happens if you open it
OR
- you don't have the GSX menu.
-
The menus does not open so I have now way of accessing the GSX functions. I turned my virus pgm & firewall of when running the Live Update and suspect that the update does not run to completion.
-
Have you tried the solution suggested in the sticky thread in this forum ?

Some users reported success using the new FSDT Universal installer that has been posted on the NEWS section of the Home page.

I downloaded tyhe Universal Installer and ran it according to instructions with virus protection off. My problem remains. Should I have uninstalled and reinstalled GSX first??

It shouldn't make any difference, but you can try.

I have reinstalled GSX + Expansion pack and run the FSDT Universal installer to update the files. It seemed to perform normally. I then restarted the computer and ran P3DV5.3 and loaded my PMDG at B10 EKCH. The Addon menu shwed GSX was installed, however, CTR/Shift did not bring up the GSX menu.
Can I send you the Couarl.log and Couatl.err?

The Addon menu shwed GSX was installed, however, CTR/Shift did not bring up the GSX menu.
The Addon manager will always says it's installed, if it finds it, but that doesn't tell you if it's working.
- Do you have BOTH the GSX menu and the Couatl menu under the "Addons" menu ?
- If yes, do you see the "airport cache loaded successfully ?"
-
YES to both questions.
-
YES to both questions.
Then GSX is working and, the only possible reason why you don't see the menu are:
- You changed the GSX hotkey, which you can verify it from the "Key Mappings" menu.
- Another add-on has already taken the key you choose for GSX ( or even the default one ), so you must either change it from the GSX Key Mappings menu or from that other add-on.
-
I have checked the key mappings and there are no changes there and I have not consciously activated Shft/Ctr F12 in another application though I'm not sure how to check this. I have even tried reinstalling P3dV5.3 but this did not change anything.

You are not controlling this, it's the application own code that asks for a key and, whoever gets it first, will block it from reaching other apps ( but this is also depending if the other application asks for it in exclusive mode or not )
I have even tried reinstalling P3dV5.3 but this did not change anything.
Of course. If the other app that took the key is still active ( which will be, if it has an add-on.xml in the Documents folder, which doesn't go away just because you reinstalled the sim )
Are you able to open other GSX menus, from the GSX own menu, instead of using the keys ?
-
From the Addon menu in the sim I can open:
SODE 1.7.1
Addon Manager
Couatl settings
Show YouControl Menu Ctr+F12 (this does not respond)
Couatl Live Update
Check Live Update (this does not return any info)
GSX
Show GSX Menu bypassing YouControl Shift+Ctr+F12 (this does not respond)
-
Try the "Restart and rebuild the airport cache" option
-
This I have already done.
-
- open the Notepad and type the following on a new blank file:
logFile=couatl.log
(please note logFile is written beginning with a lower case L and a capital F )
- Save the file as couatl.ini in the %APPDATA%\Virtuali folder
- Run the sim, then exit after you try to open the menu
- Check your %APPDATA%\Virtuali folder and if there's a Couatl.LOG file there, post its content
- DO NOT copy the file in a message, but use the "Attach" function of the forum to ZIP the log file and Attach it to a post.
