Title: FX/Acceleration F/18 Altitude Hold

It is my understanding to hold altitude, I will need to activate the auto pilot switch and then when I reach my desired altitude, I then would activate the BALT switch to hold the current altitude.

That is correct.  Keep in mind that when you activate A/P that you do not activate ATTH, HSEL or CPL like I did.  The plane would not steer and for no reason would only climb, and now I know why!  There is a write up at the first of this forum that give a little detail on the com and A/P modes.
