Title: CTRL+Shift+F12 not always displaying GSX Menu
Post by: Ray Proudfoot on May 04, 2020, 06:49:07 pm
Title describes the occasional problem when running P3D v4.5. I have the command mapped to a button on my yoke via FSUIPC. When descending through 10,000ft and sub 250kts I like to tell GSX which gate I want to use.

Sometimes the command works but sometimes it doesn’t. I’ve tried restarting and rebuilding Couatl indexes but it makes no difference. After repeated attempts the menu will eventually appear. Any ideas why it would behave like this?

Even selecting it from the Addon menu won’t work.

No. Eventually it will but it's been happening for a few weeks now. Have you or anyone else noticed it? Best described as tempramental - bit like a wife!  ;D

Does it work normally, if you select GSX after landing ? It might just be due to not having any airports closer to you. There's a range ( I believe it's 30 NM ) of airports nearby being checked.

I suppose that could be the cause. I was inbound to Hanoi, Vietnam as part of a world tour. Probably no other airports in range although as I was below 10,000ft I would have expected Hanoi to be in range.

I’ll leave it until I’m around 3,000ft on the downwind or base leg and try it then. I could leave it until I’m on the ground I suppose. Thanks Umberto.

I guess we might add some kind of message, like "no airports found near your position", in that case, so you would know GSX is working.

I was just about to suggest a suitable message so the user knew the command was working. Great minds!  :)

I flew to Hong Kong today and tried the menu 25nm from the airport. Nothing. But at 23nm it appeared. Just for info.

I just had this problem on the ground at RPLL.

The "F12" opened the dialog window to order catering, fuel, and load pax but then stopped working. P3DV4.HF3 CTD while I held down the F12 key.

I just did the latest "live update" and now i am having this problem too, in FSX on Windows 7 so no longer isolated to P3D the problem has now gotten down into FSX as well :( is there any way of "rolling back" the latest update so can get GSX back ? It will not comp, GSX , via the CTL + F12 keys, or via menu option, I am not happy i miss my GSX program and the gates and all it does for me, when i had it that is. Could this be tied into the SODE thing ? I am not sure that after that last update SODE is running either, i think the last update broke a lot of things :( Thanks, Gary

UPDATE..., I fixed me, myself :)  it WAS a S.O.D.E. issue, for some reason, somehow, last Live Update hosed / killed my S.O.D.E. installation. I did clean uninstall, including registry items, after uninstall, rebooted, reinstalled latest / greatest S.O.D.E. and refired FSX and all is good, and GSX is now working as well. GSX and S.O.D.E.  are indeed tied together, i just put this in here in case anyone else runs into this issue, this how to fix it :)  Gary

The Live Update doesn't affect any of the SODE files in any way.

In fact, that might be precisely the problem: it doesn't update/change/touch SODE so, if your installed version was older than the latest one, the Live Update won't update it, you still are supposed to keep it updated yourself because, GSX updates might require the latest version.

As explained so many times on the forum ( and on the manual too ), you should never ask questions related to the activation on the forum because, my next question would be checking your activation key or your order number and those cannot obviously discussed in public.

That's why any questions related to issues with activation, should always be dealt using the support email.
