Title: FSDT Live Update - Downloading same update over and over
Post by: Mr.Rick on September 11, 2019, 10:20:09 am
If I use the FSDT Live Updater multiple times, it just downloads the same (recent) update, is that normal?

You are surely getting the right file, the only issue is that we are probably paying a bit more in bandwidth to serve that particular file.

Ah, let me re-phrase...

If I run the updater again, it downloads the same update again - should it not just realise GSX is up to date and not dowwnload anything?

That's how supposed to work but, in THIS case, it's not downloading the file because you had an old version, it was downloading it again because it didn't get the latest version of the file which is used to prevent unnecessary downloads for *THAT* file. It's not a "general" Live Update problem, it was a specific problem with *that* file.

As I've said, the only thing affected here, in THIS case, was our bandwidth bill ( unless you are on a metered connection, so your bandwidth bill would be affected too ). Of course, following your report, the issue has been fixed now.

At each run (after the 1st run) of the live update it only lists the following....

your case is different, and it's just that you still had the old files, the problem discussed here (which, as I've said, wasn't really a problem and has already been fixed), was related to just that one single file.

No it's not, I guess my image was a bit misleading, it downloads all 371 files every time I run the updater, maybe I should you a video I captured:

I think the confusion is caused by the text displayed by the updater.

It says "Downloading" in both upper and lower parts of the dialogue, whereas it should say "Checking.." in the upper part and "Downloading.." in the lower part.

Ok. I went and looked and found that KLAX was 1.7.0.0 and CYVR -1.6.0.0, I downloaded the current installers and installed them. I also did the same for GSX/GSX-L2.

Once they were updated I ran the live update tool and let it do it's thing. Afterwards any run of live update will only list the first (2) entries listed that are shown in my previous post (#86). Outside of that everything appears to work great.
