Are you updating from a very old version ? If yes, download and install the full installer.

No, was a version from before 2 weeks (new install). It is not possible now to use the full installer, there is another failure then. Will send a screenshot tomorrow.

Just try after uninstall older GSX2, same issue with new installer.

Try this:

- Uninstall every FSDT product you have

- Reply YES to the question "Do you want to remove the Addon Manager"  ( this is IMPORTANT )

- Reinstall all FSDT products you have, but only using their latest installers.

Is it possible to get the SA Manager anywhere, maybe i can fix it with them

As clearly explained on the page which used to host the Stand-Alone Addon Manager, since 2017, the Stand-Alone Addon Manager is not required, and the only thing you need to use is the Live Update.

- Open REGEDIT

- Check this key:

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\FSDreamTeam

What do you have there ? The most important key is the "root". It is there ? Does it have the correct value  ?

Hi!

I have the same issue after a clean install of the new GSX. I've deinstalled it and deinstalled the Addon Manager too, then reinstalled GSX but I still get this error message when the updater runs after the installation (and also if I start it manually).

My registry shows the correct path "D:\Prepar3D v4\Addon Manager" for "root".

Best regards

Karsten

The root key is there and it has the full path to my Addon Manager.

Then it's possible the registry with a problem is not the FSDT one, but the simulator one. Try Live Update again, and see if you see a different message now.

I think I know what the problem is... I attached the screenshot, but it's clear that there are some leftover registry entries from P3Dv1/2/3... Can't the updater just ignore it if it's invalid?

I'm going to try removing them and see if that works. BTW, where is the updater reading the reg keys from? HKLM or HKCU?

The updated updater is supposed to do exactly that: consider the simulator with orphaned keys to be not installed. Have you tried just pressing OK to go ahead ?

Pressing OK works. I removed the following reg keys anyways since I don't need them anymore. Thanks Umberto! The issue seems to have been resolved.

I had two entries of a "dummy" FSX in my Registry to install some FSX Airports into P3D. ;)

I removed them and now it works.

Thanks for your help!

Thank you for this quick response. I think I use the latest version of "Live Update". she settled at the same time as GSX. (version of exe 2.6.0.0 Download 01/07/2019)

live update version: 4.5.0.17 (Couatl_updater.exe)
live update version: 1; 0.0.0 (Couatl_updater2.exe)

JFFKV2 (download from 01/07/2019) same error at the end of the installation when launching live update
the registry key Root is good

Los Angeles V2 (download 01/07/2019) same error during the download during the launch of live update.
P3DV4.5 Windows 10 1809 Version 17763.557

It might be (dont know) that it needs an reference of something that is only in the registry if you have the level 2 expansion?

@virtuali all the things that could be done to fix this problem, did not work for me. the new installer as well did not fix it for me nor for some other people it seems. any other idea's what it can be?

live update version: 1; 0.0.0 (Couatl_updater2.exe)

Please check the Time/Date of the Digital Signature.

In any case, the error on your screenshot is caused by registry keys present for a simulator which is not installed.

The current version of the Updater should be able to deal with this, and just consider the simulator to not be installed and, it's supposed to give a DIFFERENT warning message, not the one with "Problem reading the FSDT registry key", that's why I suspect your version is still not updated, possibly because your local Update server still stuck with the old version.

Thank you for your reply

it is a computer dedicated to P3DV4.5. There is only P3DV4 installed on this machine. Everything was working normally before updating via Live Update. I do not see any solution to this problem it's a pity.
When installing GSX he only offers me P3DV4.
the register entries for P3DV4 are good.

It's not very clear from your messages if you are getting that error from the Live Updater or from the GSX Control Panel.

Because, the issue caused by orphaned registry keys for simulators you don't have (likely caused by the Migration Tool) in the Live Updater, was fixed yesterday, as I've said. But the same check was required in the GSX Control Panel too, and this has been fixed today.

for me the control panel DOES work https://i.imgur.com/lSidibu.png
is it normal that i can restore them for FSX aswell or would that indicate there is an fsx entry in the regeditor?

I do have problems with the last Cuatl liver updater

If you are sure you don't have any FSX installer, it's possible you have an FSX entry which is pointing to a P3D folder ?

AH! Got it, it's NOT the registry, it's your dummy FSX.EXE with a 0 length!

That's very dangerous, because if you really wanted to create a dummy .exe to fool installers not made for P3D to go into there, it should have been a real FSX.EXE or, at least, a real .EXE named FSX.EXE, because LOTS of installers (including all our own), don't just check if the file is there: they MUST open it to check its *version* because they must know if it's FSX, FSX SP1, FSX SP2, FSX:SE so, with a lenght of 0, it's surely an illegal .EXE, which will make lots of installers to fail.

But I'll try to add this case too to the already long list of problems in the users installations our products must defends against from.

Yeah I just made an creative workaround for an scenery and never had any problems with it till now actually. but i am glad it is fixed now and i can use GSX! anyway, how was it about the more visual guidance with the pushback editor, i do not quite understand how that works?

Hello!
It's good everything works.   :D

Here is the procedure I used:
1) download all products New Installer
2) uninstall all FSDreamteam products
3) Empty the directories of FSDreamTeam
4) Check the registry entries:
  RootKey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Key: \ Software \ Microsoft Games \ Flight Simulator \ 10.0
Subkey: SetupPath
and
RootKey: HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Key: \ Software \ Microsoft \ Microsoft Games \ Flight Simulator \ 10.0
SubKey: AppPath
if they are present erase them.
5) check the presence of FSX files in c: \ program files; C: \ programdata, c: \ users \ Username \ appdata \ Roaming and \ local
Delete these FSX related files
6) Delete after saving the registry entry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ FSdreamTeam
7) Reinstall the FSdreamteam products and activate them with the Addon manager in P3DV4.

Thanks to everyone involved in this thread and Happy flights!  ;D
