Today I went to launch the FSDT Live updater and got the error in the screenshot. This was not a problem last week when I did an update.
"The Path Is Not Of A Legal Form"
How do I solve this. I notice the Live Updater is no longer available on the FAQ page.

So I downloaded the newest GSX Level 2 from the purchase page and uninstalled the previous version and installed the new version. I still get that error.
What does this error mean. You should know since you are the creator of it.
Please don't ignore me.

From the looks of it, it seems one of your registry keys, likely the one for the simulator, has some kind of problem.
Please create a log of the update process, this way:
- Go the the Addon Manager folder with the Window File Explorer
- Open a new command prompt there, by typing "CMD" and then Enter on the blank address bar on top of the explorer windows.
- Type the following:
Couatl_Updater /LOG=log.txt
The updater process will run normally, and will create a log.txt file in the Addon Manager folder. ZIP it and attach it to a post, so I can have a look at it.

- In your first screenshot, you posted about an error running the UPDATER, now you are showing a screnshot of NO errors, running the INSTALLER.
- If you still get errors from the UPDATER, follow my previous instructions, which indicated how to log the UPDATER
- In your last screenshot, which shows the INSTALLER instead, it shows you can install into FSX, P3D1, 2 and 3, but you can't install into P3D4. This is of course entirely normal, since now the installer is splitted into a 32 bit installer and a 64 bit installer. So you started the 32 bit version (called gsx_fsx_setup.exe ) which doesn't install into P3D4.5, you should install the P3d4 installer instead.
However, something seems odd from your screenshot. Are you SURE you installed ALL those simulators ? P3D1 too ? That seems strange, and it might indicate your registry keys are wrong. Have you used some kind of "migration tool" to fool non compatible products to install into P3D4 ?

What "Addon Manager" ? The Addon Manager is not required anymore, since 2017, when we changed to the "new" (2 years old now), Live Update.

OK I have downloaded the P3dv4.# 64bit version and am getting these errors when trying to install.
How do I solve this.

Now your issue seems to be a bad download. Clear the browser cache and try again.

I got it to install fully by rebooting my PC and install.
It still gives me the "The Path Is Not Of A Legal Form" message

That's because you skipped this steps from my instructions:
- Go the the Addon Manager folder with the Window File Explorer
- Open a new command prompt there, by typing "CMD" and then Enter on the blank address bar on top of the explorer windows.
You haven't done that, so the command prompt opened to the default location, which is your user folder, and the updater is just not there.

Your log seems to indicate a problem with your local Live Update server still not getting the latest updated files, since it's trying to download files we surely removed from our master server.

Because you made the same mistake again, of not following my procedure exactly, skipping those two steps:

I tried it as well. The second updater doesn't take a log switch...

Umberto, could this be related to a P3D v4 Registry path issue? I am having the same issue and I remember using a migration tool a long time ago. I deleted all the other p3d versions from the registry, but the Lockheed Martin folder in the registry is found 4 times...

If you would like to give me a step by step process from how to launch Windows File Explore to the final step I need to do I will be glad to do that so we can get this resolved.
The last screenshot I now get the "The Path Is Not Of A Legal Form" message.

Have you tried the very latest update ? We just found a problem related to orphaned simulator keys ( possibly caused by a Migration Tool ), the new updater should be able to deal with.

It appears as though my FSDT scenery's are updated as I have all the functions inside the sim.
So I tried to do the CMD thing and here is what I am still getting .

It's normal you will get THAT (now correct) message: it's useful for you to know that something's wrong with your registry. But compared to the initial release, the program now doesn't panic and, after giving that message, will consider the simulator as NOT installer, and will continue normally.
