When I request the refuel option GSX is adding the relevant amount of fuel but it's also zeroising the payload fields bar the pilot field for my Carenado PC-12.
I've checked the manual and there's no mention this will happen. Bug?
Sim is P3D v4.4.
-
The GSX refuel will only affect the fuel tanks, it surely won't touch the other payload. Of course, this assume the payload has been flagged as such in the airplane.cfg file and not, for example, as another fuel station.
-
Hi Umberto,
I've just tested it again and it's definitely GSX clearing down the payload fields with the exception of the pilot field which remains at 180. Rather than attach the whole aircraft.cfg I'm pasting the payload and fuel sections for info.
max_number_of_stations = 9
station_load.0 = 180, 2.5, 0, 0
station_load.1 = 0, 2.5, 0, 0
station_load.2 = 0, 1.5, 0, 0
station_load.3 = 0, 1.5, 0, 0
station_load.4 = 0, 0.5, 0, 0
station_load.5 = 0, 0.5, 0, 0
station_load.6 = 0, -0.5, 0, 0
station_load.7 = 0, -0.5, 0, 0
station_load.8 = 0, -1.0, 0, 0
station_name.0 = "pilot"
station_name.1 = "pax fwd"
station_name.2 = "pax 2nd row"
station_name.3 = "Pax 2nd row"
station_name.4 = "pax 3rd row"
station_name.5 = "pax 3rd row"
station_name.6 = "pax 4th row"
station_name.7 = "pax 4th row"
station_name.8 = "400lbs max"
[fuel]
LeftMain = 0.5, -4, -2, 203, 2 //Longitudinal (feet), Lateral (feet), Vertical (feet), Usable(gallons), Unusable (gallons)
RightMain = 0.5, 4, -2, 203, 2 //Longitudinal (feet), Lateral (feet), Vertical (feet), Usable(gallons), Unusable (gallons)
fuel_type = 2 //Fuel type: 1 = Avgas, 2 = JetA
number_of_tank_selectors = 1
electric_pump=1
If you require any more info just ask.

That looks ok. Is this only happening with that airplane ?
-
Yes. The only other 3rd party one I have is the XTreme Prototype Learjet 25 and that's fine. Mystifying.
-
Here's the state of the fuel and payload before and after requesting refuelling.
-
Umberto,
I'm attaching the aircraft.cfg just in case there's something else that might be causing it. I tried a couple of default aircraft and the problem didn't show with those. Just the PC-12.
-
Umberto, I've asked in the AvSim Carenado forum if anyone with GSX could check whether this happens with their PC-12. Not had any replies yet. Have you had any joy with this?
-
I'm out of office for vacation until next Monday, I'll check it out as soon as possible.
-
Umberto,
I previously said my other 3rd party aircraft - a Learjet 25 - wasn't affected by this problem. In fact it is. Just selected a refuel and all pilot and pax seats have a value of 170. Previously pilot and copilot was 0 and only 5 pax were loaded with a value of 248.
I've just done an update of GSX too
LATER: I monitored the Zero Fuel Weight of the aircraft in FSUIPC Logging using 3BFC Type S32. Display to Title Bar. Divide value by 256 to get ZFW in lbs.
Before requesting fuel the value was 1955840 / 256 = 7640. That's Empty Weight + Payload. Payload was 0 with no crew or pax.
After requesting 1496lbs of fuel that value changed to 2475584. Divide by 256 and you get 9670.
The Empty Weight is 7640 plus 2030 = 9670.
But I never changed the payload. GSX did.
-
Hi Umberto, I asked the question on AvSim and another user confirmed GSX also changes his payload back to default settings when fuel is requested.

As I've said, we are looking into it. I think to remember there was some kind of bug/quirk in Simconnect which requires to change at least one payload station value, in order to change the fuel but, of course, it must be set to the proper value, not zero.
-
Okay, happy to wait for you to find and fix it. If a payload value needs writing perhaps you can read all the payload fields and write the same values.

Of course, this is what is supposed to do so, there must be some kind of bug in the code.
-
Umberto, I don’t want to hassle you but I was wondering if you’ve solved this problem.
-
The problem will surely be fixed in the next update, which we are testing right now.
-
Good man, thanks! ;D
-
Hi Umberto,
This problem is still present. Have there been any updates in the last couple of months? I’m not being prompted to run the update.

That's because there hasn't been any updates, which explains why you haven't been notified.

That's somewhat unusual isn't it? When will this bug fix be released?

Yes, I agree that, being accustomed to the usually continuous flow of updates from GSX, you might find unusual of several months with no updates but, if you followed the forum, we are working on a fairly large update, mostly related to P3D4 PBR but, while we were at it, we took the chance to change some core aspect of how the whole product works, mostly in relationship to the way all the objects are installed, how custom liveries are handled, how easy will be to make user repaints (very difficult now), and we are also redoing most of the objects as well.
So, it's taking longer than expected, but it's important to do it right, for the long term future expansions of the product.
We also already explained in other threads that, because the too many things that have been changed, we cannot just release a minor update to fix minor things right now, so it will all came together in the next large update.
-
Thanks for the info Umberto. I tend only to visit when I have a problem so wasn't aware of the major update being worked on.
-
Hi Umberto,
I'm sorry to have to raise this long-standing 'bug' but as it is still there it's annoying when I use the refuel option in GSX.
I entered the payload values myself but after fuel was loaded they've been reset to the default in the aircraft.cfg.
PLEASE, PLEASE fix this. It makes a mockery of setting payload only for GSX to mess them up. P3D V4.5. Xtreme Prototypes Lear 25 using default fuel & payload options.
-
Umberto? Have you had a chance to look at this please?
-
Plenty of other posts being answered. Why not this one? A long-standing bug is irritating.
-
We fixed this in an upcoming version which is still under testing.

Do you have a proposed release date?
-
Do you have a proposed release date?
No, we don't, because we are doing a major rewrite ( the whole program from 32 to 64 bit ), and we cannot release a quick fix right now, because there's a lot of stuff that changed and lots of possible crashes to prevent.
Note that, it not really a GSX bug, it's really caused by a bug in the sim that doesn't update the fuel quantity unless you also change the weight on any of the payload stations so, we were forced to do that, otherwise fuel loading wouldn't work. Since we didn't want to play with actual payload stations ( those are numbered from 1 to N ), we just sent a dummy weight to a non-existent station ( station 0 ), and this seemed to work.
However, it seem ( because of your report ), we found another (different) bug, or more like unexpected side effect, that when changing station 0, all payload stations resets to default, so our fix would be just changing the weight ( not really changing it, but re-writing the same value it had before refueling ) of a station that actually exists, which seems to work better.
-
Hi Umberto. I agree it’s not a bug in GSX. It’s one in P3D / SimConnect or even the SDK! It’s ridiculous you have to go to such lengths to work around it.
I was going to suggest you read the user-supplied values and reinstate them but you’re on it. No problem. I can wait and continue to enter fuel load manually. I only reminded you as I thought it must have been overlooked given how long it was since my first post.
