Title: L2 before-buy question
Post by: Dimon on September 08, 2018, 12:22:31 am
Umberto,

Am I correct that all of my aircrafts' configs from L1 will be fully functional in L2?

THanks
Dmitriy

Sure, but depending on the airplane, you might want to use our updated version (which means removing your existing configs).

For example, we have some airplanes with embedded doors pre-configured (CRJs, default and Aerosoft), and there might have been other improvements as well.

But yes, the configs are compatible.

PS. On the other hand I have noticed that JFK now is usable with L2 only. Correct?

Yes, because we used GSX Level 2 jetways to made a SODE version so, in either case we would had to place them in the JFK installer, and they are very large (especially textures) so, instead of making every installer larger, we kept the scenery installer size as it were, and have GSX Level 2 as a requirement for any future scenery with SODE jetways.

Of course, with GSX (and Level 2) being both free at FSDT airports, it's not really a problem.

We could say "download this new 1.2 GB JFK2 installer, featuring SODE jetways" or "download the 1GB GSX Level 2 installer and let Live Update updating a few files in JFK2", it's not really that different...

Clear now.

I'd rather wait for a couple of weeks to let L2 things finally settle and then I'll buy.

Cheers,
Dmitriy

Last question - should I install L2 over the L1 existing installation OR should I uninstall L1 first

Doesn't matter. If it did, the new installer would have told you that or, better yet, perform the uninstall for you. Since it doesn't do any of that, and we haven't advised about any uninstall requirement, you can safely assume you can do it either way.

I'm reading this discussion about disabling default jetways and I have question - does it refer to the default airports ONLY or also to those add-ones custom airports that use CTRL-J jetways' system?

Thanks in advance for the clarification.

PS. Perhaps would get my L2 copy this weekend but I wanna make sure that it's bugs' free

At the moment there is a bug with auto gen loading, the devs are trying to fix it....

The default are replaced automatically, non-default CTRL+J jetways must be replaced explicitly. There's a video tutorial in the first post of this section.
