Title: Upgrading to new computer
Post by: thereadog on March 02, 2018, 07:20:22 pm
Hi all

Sorry if this is posted elsewhere 1000 times.  I am confused on what to do.

I just purchased a new computer and want to transfer all of my FSX over.  I have FSDT addons as well as the QW757 and a few others.  I have read about using the addon manager to deactivate and then reactivate, but when I run it, everything just updates and I am not given a deactivation option.  Am I doing something wrong?  Is there an easy/better way to do this so that I can get up and running on the new machine?  Thanks

You must use the "Deactivate" button in the Addon Manager menu INSIDE THE SIM, on the old PC, when everything is still activated, before disposing it/giving it away/reformatting.

Not that you HAVE to do this. The only reason to Deactivate, is to not consume an activation when reinstalling on the new hardware, but you have 6 of them so, if you cannot Deactivate for some reasons, for example because the old hardware broke down, or you reformatted before deactivating, it's not really a problem: you still have several activations left.
