Well since I downloaded the new PMDG updates for the 777 and 747, GSX keeps telling me I need to set my parking brakes for the 777 but my Wheel Chalks are set. Everything was perfect before the new intsall. My PMDG 747 and 737 work fine, this is just affecting the 777. I know this could be a PMDG issue but I figured I'd start here first. Any help would be appreciated, thanks Crash.

If you say it only happened after the last PMDG update, it's possible something might have changed in the airplane, maybe they changed the name of the variable for the wheel chocks. We'll check this.
-
That's what I was thinking but I'm no tech. Also I have noticed many people having different issues with their new PMDG updates for the 777 and 747. Fortunately for me everything still works great on the 747, just this wheel chalk issue for 777. Thanks for looking into it, Crashbar. I use FSX-Acceleration by the way.

Any news by chance on the "Chocks" issue for PMDG 777. I started the topic on PMDG forum apparently their are others with the same issue. Thanks, Crashbar.

Hi Umberto,
PMDG did change something with the 777 update. Any luck finding out what it was? I hate leaving the brakes on at the gate :-)

I downloaded the latest 777 update and no, it doesn't seem PMDG has changed anything in the wheel chocks, and GSX correctly detects them to be released when starting Pushback.
However, GSX has another feature, which we currently used only in the Aerosoft Airbus, and the FS Labs A320, which is a custom parking brake control to be used as an alternative as the parking brakes, so you can activate the GSX menu on the parking with wheel chocks only.
The latest Live Update adds this feature for PMDG planes too.
-
Okay how do you do it? I ran the Live Updater a few minutes ago and tried to access the GSX menu after setting the wheel chocks on the updated version of the PMDG 777-200LR. GSX still tells me I must set the parking brake to access services. (Running FSX under WIN7).
-
Same Here,
I'm still being told to set the breaks. Did all the updates on both sides, PMDG and GSX.

I'm sorry, but I can only confirm the wheel chocks are now correctly detected even when you need to start services, so you can stay parked just with wheel chocks.
Be sure you run the FSDT Live Update.

Hi Umberto,
I ran live update, rebooted the computer and GSX still wants me to set the breaks with the PMDG 77W. I suppose I can re install the complete package again.

I suppose I can re install the complete package again.
There's no need to reinstall anything, if you mean GSX because, the updated file that allows to recognize the wheel chocks on the PMDG777 is only online now, so the only way to get it, is to use the FSDT Live Update.
-
OK Umberto,
I will run it again.

Hello Umberto,
Ok I downloaded the 2 updater files as of today around 12 Noon EDT ( 1600UC).
I ran the live updater program and restarted the PC.
Started FSX and loaded a PMDG777200.
The wheel chocks were set on. The Parking Brake was set off.
GSX would NOT start services until I set the Parking Brakes ON!
Is there a specific file I should check?

Is there a specific file I should check?
The affected file is Addon Manager\couatl\common\aircraftDb.pye, and it should be 56576 bytes long.
-
The affected file, aircraftDb.pye. on my PC is 56,400 bytes with a created date of 6/1/17 and a modified date of 6/13/2017.
-
OK well PMDG just had a big update for all their planes for all formats that require reinstall and after everything was installed the 777 "Chocks" are being detected.
-
Well, that's news I somehow missed! Will try that tomorrow.

Try to remove it and run the FSDT Live Update again.

Hi Umberto,
Your suggestion worked.
Deleted the existing file, ran Live Update, and it installed the correct sized file.
GSX no longer wants the Parking brake set on.
I have not yet tried to install the most recent PMDG updates.
Thanks!

FYI
I've now installed the current PMDG777 updates (Build 8386) and my updated GSX does not require the Parking brakes Set On for aircraft services.
-
I am also having this problem since updating to the latest version of the PMDG 777 in P3D V3.4.
I have tried deleting the aircraftDB.pye file and running the Live Updater, but the file it re-creates was modified on 17th Feb 2017 and GSX still requires the parking brakes to be set to start services.
Should I try a complete re-install of GSX?

The previous user confirmed that doing this will result in getting the correct updated file.

Won't make any difference. The only file involved is the aircraftDB.pye and, the only sure way to get the current version is to remove it manually. Well, of course, it's not necessary, because the updater will surely update it but, if it doesn't work, removing will surely get the latest version.
If it doesn't on your system, maybe some kind of external product (antivirus ?) is preventing the updater to work properly. Try to remove this folder too:
%APPDATA%\Virtuali\UpdateCache
And see if it finally download the correct file.
