Title: Ground person on loading stairs

When I'm approaching the gate the ground man is on top of the loading stairs guiding me in is this the normal setup or a bug. Usually the person is on the ground

?? What "bug", it's an extremely useful feature, which is obviously used in real world too: when the back wall of the terminal is too close to the stopping position for the marshaller to be seen depending on your cockpit height, he will be on a ladder.
