Good day,
I have done a PC format today, and started the usual process of loading everything. Everything was fine, until I loaded GSX. Then I got a CTD upon loading. Uninstalled GSX, everything was working again. Headed on over to your site to download the latest version, installed again, CTD. Removed - everything working. Can you please advise?

I´ve been using GSX for over two years and I never had a single problem.
Recently I had messages about missing traffic cone models and this is why I reinstalled using the latest version from fsdt´s site.
I´m running FSX Gold Edition with Acceleration (SP2 included)
Did a clean reinstall as suggested in the forums. No joy :-\
As soon as I uninstall GSX or leave it out of the dll.xml everything works like a charm....
Any help would be appreciated, since I really got used to the friendly ground services ;D
Cheers, Arne
Edit: I just saw there are a couple of people having issues with the installer...

I've started my own thread before finding this but just wanted to say that this is also happening in P3Dv3 and not only FSX. If you need to use the sim and dont want to uninstall anything right now, might I suggest, going to your exe.dll file that is found in your roaming Sim folder and making a backup copy of it then remove the addon manger or coutal lines so that those dont start up during the start up phase and see if that stops the CTD issue we are having.

I tried this and I still have CTD

I'm sorry, but I cannot replicate the problem. I've just downloaded and installed the Stand-Alone Addon Manager, and it works normally, no crashes.
Please contact me in private, because I need to have a look at your system.
-
I had the first Teamviewer session with an affected user right now, and witnessed the crash. I reinstalled the Stand-Alone Addon Manager, and it was fixed. I cannot explain it, other than he must have had a bad download somehow.
So, first try to reinstall the Stand-Alone Addon manager now.

Hello,
Thanks for replay i'll try that this evening and inform you.

I have had the same issue with both GSX and when I tried to install my new purchase of KSFOHD. I also attempted to install the standalone manager and it still crashed immediately. I have been able to workaround the problem to just get FSX working by uninstalling all FSDT products and then reinstalling them making sure that one of my older saved installs goes in last. I have not yet been able to install KSFOHD though and am waiting to get on the Flightbeam boards to see if I can solve that one.

Have you done it AFTER I posted my previous message ? If no, or not sure, do it now.

Flightbeam doesn't have anything to do with this, and the KSFOHD installer downloads and install exactly the same file, from the same location (our own server). As I've said, you must have had (like the others) got a bad download somehow, but I can only confirm it cannot happen now.
Just reinstall everything NOW, and it will surely work.
-
Thanks. I am at work now but will try later today and see what happens.

This means you have *another*, entirely different, problem. Which is the Addon Manager not loading, either because the antivirus blocked it (so you must disable it when installing) OR because you disabled it in the DLL.XML when trying to fix the problem. Reinstalling it should re-enabled it in the DLL.XML, but if you also made a mistake editing it, the installer won't fix a corrupted XML file.
Reinstall again with antivirus and firewall disabled. If still doesn't work, contact me in private for a Teamviewer session, and I'll fix it for you.

Hi all,
I experienced this problem before and followed the advice of downloading the stand alone manager again and thankfully it worked.
I purchased Flightbeam's KIAD today and having ran the installer my problem has returned. FSX crashes shortly after start up.
I have tried all suggestions here:
http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,10489.0.html
but have had no joy. I can get FSX to run with no issues if I uninstall GSX and KIAD but naturally I wish to have them installed and working.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Just had a problem of the same kind yesterday and started a new thread...

Thanks for that I'll keep an eye on it.

I purchased Flightbeam's KIAD today and having ran the installer my problem has returned. FSX crashes shortly after start up.
It's not normal that installing KIAD would create this problem, since the installer downloads and installs the same Addon Manager files from the same location, which is our own website (we wrote the installers for Flightbeam ).
Try to either reinstall it now, or try to download and install the latest Stand-Alone Addon Manager as the LAST thing you do.
-
I have tried to reinstall KIAD and made sure to run the stand alone add on manager too from your website but the problem persists. I have my anti virus off and have ran everything as admin. I also restarted the PC between each install. I downloaded new copies of each file on the off chance there was a problem with the files that had been downloaded but this wasn't the problem either.
I will try again later with new download files again. Any other tips as I have tried this several times to no avail so far.
Thanks for the help.

I tried a fresh install of the below in this order:
KIAD
GSX
Standalone add on manager
I then performed a restart, I ran FSX, it lasted maybe just over one minute then crashed. Not sure if the below helps:
Faulting application name: fsx.exe, version: 10.0.61637.0, time stamp: 0x46fadb14

I'm sorry, but there's no reason why it would crash after a minute. It should either crash immediately, or not at all. Did it crash without doing anything ? Just staying still on the apron ?

Hi,
Sorry I had to go away unexpectedly for a week. I will return to my PC on
Monday.
For your info it crashed while still on the free flight menu, I never got to click "fly now".
I uninstalled KIAD, GSX and The add in manager and everything worked again, left a random flight open for 2 hours with no crashes, I ran mutilpe add on's in this time with no problems.
I will take another look on Monday, and again sorry for the late reply.
-
Hi,
Well my issue is resolved. I am very confused (nothing new there, haha ;D!!).
I went back and installed everything in the following order, GSX, KIAD and then the stand alone add on manager. All works perfectly know thankfully, I'm 2 hours into a test flight with no issues so far, hopefully it stays that way as I'm not sure what caused the issue go away?
So happy to be back to normal.
Thanks.
