Title: Couatl Manager and GSX won't install
Post by: Planebuff on October 16, 2015, 10:33:39 pm
Ive been using GSX and fsdt Hawaii airports for years, and all the sudden one day when i pressed ctrl+F12 to bring up GSX it woud not open. So I looked under addons to see if the Couatl manager was their and it was gone (all thats their is something for the Level-D 767). I downloaded the installer for both the Virtuali addon managerX and complete gsx fsx installer. Im using FSX:SE. When I run the virtuali installer everthing goes good until it says "copying local addon manager module" and a ton of warnings come up saying that bglmanx.dll (3 warning windows in a row), bglmanx_aerosoft.dll, bglmanx_qwings.dll, bglmanx_fbeam.dll, bglmanx.dll again in two windows in a row, bglmanx_fsdt.dat, bglmanx_aerosoft.dat, bglmanx_qwings.dat, and bglmanx_fbeam.dat can't be installed. So I go back into FSX and the Couatl manger of course still is not there. So then I run the GSX complete installer to see if it works and when its almost done the green bar turns red and a alert window comes up (the window with the red cirlce with a white x through it) and says Access is denied. The next window says Setup was not complete. Please correct the problem and run Setup again. Now I do have Webroot as an antivirus software and i guaranty 100% that I turned it off before the install. Please help me with this problem so I can use FSDT products again!

This is surely an bug of your antivirus, that is mistakenly blocking the files from being installed.

This, or you are trying to run the installer when FSX is still running, which obviously won't work. Just to be sure, try reinstalling after a Windows restart.

I did what you said and I even unistalled the antivirus software so their would be NO problems caused by it. So its clearly not webroot causing the problems...

Then you either:

- Have ANOTHER antivirus that is running and you are not aware of it, which must be disabled too

OR

- You are trying to install the program while FSX is running, so it's normal you will get a lot of access denied if you try to write over files that are currently open (because FSX is running). Which is why, I said to try after a WINDOWS RESTART, to be sure FSX is not running.

I did do a restart. FSX is not running.

I did do a restart. FSX is not running.

Then it's the antivirus. Maybe you forgot to disable the default one ( Windows Defender ) ? This, of course, assuming your report:

it says "copying local addon manager module" and a ton of warnings come up saying that bglmanx.dll (3 warning windows in a row), bglmanx_aerosoft.dll, bglmanx_qwings.dll, bglmanx_fbeam.dll, bglmanx.dll again in two windows in a row, bglmanx_fsdt.dat, bglmanx_aerosoft.dat, bglmanx_qwings.dat, and bglmanx_fbeam.dat can't be installed

Which, reading it better, is not entirely accurate, since there are NO files named "bglmanx_aerosoft.dll, bglmanx_qwings.dll, bglmanx_fbeam.dll" that must be installed, so it's not possible you would see a warning about them, since they don't exists. The ONLY file with a .DLL extension is the bglmanx.dll file, and this is the only file that an antivirus will check.

The other files, the one with the .dat extension, will not be checked by any antivirus, but WILL cause an error is FSX is running when you run the installer.

Maybe you have ANOTHER product which works like an antivirus but it's not named as such, like an anti-spyware, an anti ad-aware (the program is defective, of course, since NONE of these files are obviously spyware or ad-ware), they might have the same effect as an antivirus, blocking the files from installing.

The only other possible explanation, but it's very unlikely, is that you are running under a limited user account, and tried to run the installer without giving the admin password, so it cannot write into the FSX folder, because an installer launched from a limited user account doesn't have enough rights to write in the FSX folder (IF FSX is installed under its default locations under C:\Program Files ), if you don't supply it with the admin password.

I just checked and i have full control of my account (the only account on the computer). The only kind of blacking software I have is Webroot. This computer is only a few months old, so its not like their is any thing I installed a long time ago that I forgot about. Should I try deleting these files in the main FSX folder?

Got the Couatl manager installed by moving old dll files out. Now GSX still says Access Denied

Which confirms there's another external program blocking access to folders GSX SHOULD have access to, like its own preference files, or the FSX scenery library.

I'm sorry, but if you are sure your user account have complete access to the system, the only thing that can cause this is the antivirus. You are probably running another antivirus, or the one you use hasn't been properly configured, and it's still blocking access to files.

I just called my computer manufacturer and they went into my system and disabled antivirus and did some other things that I did not understand, but it still says Access Denied at the end of executing the files stage!

Reinstalled some windows files that were stated in Couatl PDF and now this error pops up before Access Denied and Problem occurred and I need to close installer and fix the problem. It says Error. C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX\FSdreamteam\FSdt_install_guide.pdf   An error occurred while trying to replace the existing file:DeleteFile failed; code 32. The process can not access the file because it is being used by another process.

It seems that you are trying to run the installer, that needs to copy the PDF manual, while you had the manual still open! This obviously won't work.

Restart Windows and reinstall and don't open anything until the installation ends.

Ok I just turned off Webroot and a alert came up saying Windows Defender and Webroot were turned off and their was no antivirus software running. I restarted windows. All antivirus soft wares off (100% sure) clicked on NOTHING but the installer, ran it, and right at the end of executing files it says Access Denied again! I just dont know what to do. I wouldnt care if this was a free software, but i payed for this! I need to get this running or I am going to want a refund (would prefer the first option). Thanks

This indicates that not ALL the antivirus has been correctly disabled. Or, they are so bugged, that you cannot control their behavior entirely, and they still mistakenly block files even if you told them not to. Yes, we heard horror reports about some antivirus doing this. I witnessed this personally on an user's system: the only way to know the antivirus was still blocking the installation (it WAS disabled), was to go into the antivirus activity log, to confirm it was still active in fact.

If you paid for your antivirus software, you should consider asking a refund for it, instead, since it seems it doesn't respond to your commands and it doesn't let you install a program using a normal installer, not doing anything strange other than copying files.

Don't you think that, if the problem was our installer, we would have the forum flooded by identical reports ? Instead, you are the only one reporting this problem that, for the few other that reported something similar, was ALWAYS solved either by restarting Windows OR disabling the antivirus.

I can help you directly with Teamviewer. Download the free installer here:
