Greetings!
I've had GSX for close to a year now and it has worked on this computer before with both FSX Accelerator and FSX Steam. I had both running at same time.
What has changed:
I couldn't install Wilco Citation X so I visited JustFlight's forum and got a recommended fix.
1. Completely uninstall FSX Accelerator
2. Completely uninstall FSX Steam
3. Reinstall FSX Steam with compatibility mode set to off
4. Run Legacy SDK - all three.
5. Reinstall Citation X
Results:
Installed FScene4X, Rex 4, Traffic 360, Citation X, and HD Airport Graphics with no problems. Now GSX won't install. As in the menus aren't appearing while inside FSX. Latest version of installer used.
What I've checked:
1. Latest version of Visual C++
2. Leftover files from previous installations.
3. Registry entries
4. Reinstalled SimConnect various times
5. Antivirus turned off during installation.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I love GSX and it wouldn't be the same to fly without it. :)

First, as indicated here, for full Steam compatibility, it's suggested you use the Couatl 3 Public Beta:
http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,11796.0.html
However, even the standard version should work, it's just that some features like Restart and Live Update won't work under Steam. That's why it's best to use the Public Beta.
You don't say if you miss:
- Just the GSX menus under the "Couatl powered products" menu
OR
- The whole "Couatl powered products"
OR
- BOTH the "Couatl powered products" AND the "Addon Manager" menus
OR
- The whole "Addons" menu.
-
The Addon menu appears with just FSUIPC listed. Nothing else shows.
-
Have you done what I suggested in my previous reply: "Installing the Couatl 3 Public Beta" ?
-
Yes - did not make a difference by installing beta.
Also tried going into Steam - Properties -Local - Verify game cache. It downloaded 3000+ files, ran it again, it said everything was fine.
Uninstalled everything again, AV off, downloaded all new installers, reinstalled and still nothing.
Could it have something to do with the registry entry that sets compatibility mode to off?
-
just ran install again this time with a log.

Why? not 64 install mode?

User was never asked this question. What is dual install mode?

The compatibility mode MUST be off.
-
Why? not 64 install mode?
Because both FSX, GSX and its installers, are all 32 bit apps so, it's entirely normal.
User was never asked this question.
Yes, you have been asked this question, when the installer said it detected FSX Steam in its folder, asking you if you want to install it there, and if you replied Yes, you also answered that question.
What is dual install mode?
It's FSX:SE and FSX installed into the same system, that the installer has detected. Is this your configuration ? Is FSX still installed ?

FSX Accelerator should be entirely off system. I've looked under user/appdata/local and user/appdata/roaming and programdata/Microsoft/FSX. What am I missing?? ???

You should have posted the complete install log. Don't post it on the forum. Send it to me by email, the address indicated in the "Contact Us" page.

Problem solved!!
Reinstalled FSX completely. Ran the legacy SDK's. Rebooted Windows then used the Public Test installer.
Shazaam! Thanks so much for all your help :)
