How can I save GSX aircraft and airport settings for reinstalling on a new clean FSX installation?

They are not saved in the FSX folder, so you can completely remove FSX and even reinstall it on a different drive, you won't lose any GSX customization.

The only time you need to worry about this, and make a backup, is if you reinstall Windows from scratch. In this case, you'll have to backup the following folder:

%APPDATA%\Virtuali

Which contains all your FSDT addons preferences.
