The first and the last errors in your log are both from years ago, so they are not relevant. It's possible you have missed a major update in the past so, try with the full GSX installer, downloaded now.
-
not missed a major update update to GSX 1.9 with De-Icers last week working fine until today when i started FSX said got a update after i download it the error came
have downloaded GSX Full installer & Standalone Addon Manager still comes back with the same message

Again, your error log doesn't show anything from 2014 so, as I've said, it's NOT relevant. I just check the GSX full installer now, just to be 100% sure, and of course there are no problems whatsoever and no errors of any kind.
Try a complete Uninstall/Reinstall, by replying YES to the question "Do want to remove the Addon Manager ?" and YES to the question "Do you want to remove the Couatl scripting engine ?" that are made at the end.
Reinstall using just the GSX full installer, don't install anything else. The current GSX Full installer is 1.9.0.5

done a complete Uninstall and Reinstall still the same issue
i checked the path where it says C:\Users\stephen\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali
no error seem to be reported for this only the old's ones

Sorry, but that's not possible, if you want to have a Teamviewer session, I can have a look at your system. PM me to arrange that.

i tried it twice i even deleted it from C:\Users\stephen\Downloads files to make sure and Download it
i don't have Teamviewer
if this helps i am using fscaptain

Hello,
I installed the last update of Couatl (Live Update) and my iFly 747 v2 Hotfix 1 no longer works. I get the error:
couatl v2.0 (build 2374)
panic log started on Sun Dec 28 19:37:29 2014
problem raised by addon <unknown>Traceback (most recent call last):
File "couatl\GSX\__init__.py", line 529, in onSimStart
File "couatl\common\aircraftData.py", line 1031, in getAircraftData
File "couatl\common\aircraftData.py", line 595, in __init__
ValueError: need more than 8 values to unpack
I get this error only with iFly 747 v2 Hotfix 1. All other aircrafts (PMDG, Aerosoft Airbus etc.) work fine. iFly 747 v2 has also worked before I installed the Couatl last live update. I completely uninstalled and reinstalled Couatl, GSX and iFly 747 v2 Hotfix 1. But unfortunately that does not help.
Kind regards,
Vadim

I installed the last update of Couatl (Live Update) and my iFly 747 v2 Hotfix 1 no longer works. I get the error:
I'm not sure why the iFly 747 would be related to the update, because is not even a support airplane, so there's no trace of it in GSX. Does it comes with an intelliscene.cfg file maybe ?
In case, try to run the installer again, I made a small change that might be fix this, so you'll get it by reinstalling.

I am getting this same error message with the latest update. I downloaded and installed the full addon manager and received the error message when I start Active Sky Next. I installed the full addon manager again and will try another weather program.
Thanks,
Mike Cameron
-
Had same problem, but on your idea, I deleted downloaded intelliscene file , seems to have corrected problem but I will download and re install updated GSX file just in case... thanks,
-
i use Active Sky Next aswell
i tried using the default FSX Weather still the same

Hi. I'm using GSX since Christmas with great fun and updated today via the start-up message/menu. The update worked flawless but as soon as FSX was starting the simulation I got the "Couatl Scripting Engine" error message. The error log had:
couatl v2.0 (build 2374)
panic log started on Sun Dec 28 13:11:15 2014
problem raised by addon <unknown>Traceback (most recent call last):
File "couatl\GSX\__init__.py", line 273, in onAppStart
AttributeError: 'GSX' object has no attribute 'allPreferences'
I tried to do what it said and re-installed the "Stand-Alone Addon Manager" but the error was persistent. Since then the error log has slightly changed to:
couatl v2.0 (build 2374)
panic log started on Sun Dec 28 13:14:54 2014
problem raised by addon <unknown>Traceback (most recent call last):
File "couatl\GSX\__init__.py", line 429, in checkAirplane
File "couatl\common\aircraftData.py", line 1031, in getAircraftData
File "couatl\common\aircraftData.py", line 595, in __init__
ValueError: need more than 8 values to unpack
Since then I have tried the following:
1) re-installed the former full version of "gsx_fsx_setup.exe" that I used initially (90.273KB),
2) downloaded and installed the latest version of "gsx_fsx_setup.exe" (90.319KB),
3) de-installed everything related to GSX and the add-on manager / virtuali I could find under installed programs and re-installed the latest version of "gsx_fsx_setup.exe",
...all without luck. The error and errormessage recorded in Couatl.err remain (i.e. the second one posted above).
I am running FSX GOLD with Acceleration Exp. Pack. I have installed the following add-ons:
a) Aerosoft - Airbus A318/A319 + Airbus A320/A321 (1.21 / 1.21)
b) Orbx - FTX: Global BASE
c) some freeware airports
d) AES-BasePack for FSX w/o credits
All this worked fine until the update today. Killing the couatl.exe via process explorer lets me fly and all works fine w/o GSX.
Any idea?

I am getting this error without weather being loaded, FSX only with clear weather theme.

I love GSX but is now unusable after this update.
Thanks

I've merged all the 3 topics, because they were all reporting the same issue.
Try to launch the installer again, because there's a new updated file that should fix this.

Hi,
today I updated the Stand-alone Manager. Since then, when starting Prepar3d v2.4 with the Aerosoft Twin Otter Extended, I get the following error message:
http://fsfiles.org/flightsimshotsv2/images/2014/12/28/ybnPq.jpg (http://fsfiles.org/flightsimshotsv2/images/2014/12/28/ybnPq.jpg)
I have since tried to reinstall the Stand-alone Manager and have also completely uninstalled and reinstalled the Twotter. The problem only occurs with the Aerosoft Twin Otter and no other plane. The error file which is specified in the window does not exist (and yes, I know exactly where that directory is). Hopefully you can help me, because I frequently fly the Twotter and now have to disable Coutl everytime I want to use it, which is very annoying.
Thanks and regards
Carlo

Try the solution above.

That solution worked for me.
Thanks,
Mike Cameron

You don't have to download anything, just re-run any existing installer you already have, either GSX, or the Stand-Alone Addon manager.
-
OoooKayyy... it seems to work now.
After I ran the installer (the one I d/l'ed before -THX) I got the exact same error initially. Then I managed to be fast enough between the errors to enter the "Add-Ons" menu "Addon Manager" and without changing anything pressed "Save to FSX". After the restart of FSX the error messages were gone and I can request and execute GSX services.
THX for keeping us happy so late at night! ;)
UPDATE: since it faild to work again I re-installed a while later like recommended below and since then it is working flawless :)
-
Tried the solution above still and what Koogle still not fixed it
-
I tried the fixes as noted above, I've tried re-running the standalone manager and re-installing GSX 3 times, but I am still getting this error against the SkySpirit2011 747. The error is always the same.
I did notice when I first got the update, the Add-on manager would disappear. Now, the Add-on manager is there and shows every thing active and installed. But the Airport is missing and the messages appear at random now.
All other Aircraft seem to load ok.

Run it again NOW, because it's possible you still got the wrong download, since we run on a service that, in order to prevent DDos, runs on multiple servers in different parts of the world, so it's possible yours wasn't updated yet.
-
That appears to have got it fixed. Thanks for the quick fix. But, it's past your bed time and I was going to try it later. ;D
-
Yep. Now it's working! Thanks a lot for the very quick fix! Excellent service!

Umberto - I recently reinstalled GSX v1.9 and get the same Couatl Scripting Engine error whenever I try to load the Level-D B763 Winglet airplane. The non-winglet LVLD_B763 is on the list of GSX native supported aircraft, and GSX runs fine.
So I assumed the scripting error is because Couatl engine is looking for a custom GSX.cfg for the winglet version.
I realized I couldn't use the airplane configuration editor, since there was no native data to edit - and because the airplane configuration editor won't run anyway, since couatl repeatedly crashes.
So following you instructions on page 31 of the v1.9 manual, I created an GSX.CFG (attached for reference).
I looked in
C:\Users\myusername\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali\ but couldn't find an Airplanes folder.
So I created C:\Users\myusername\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali\Airplanes\LVLD_B763_Winglet, and put my GSX.cfg in there and restarted. I thought this would fix my problem, but the engine still repeatedly crashes.
What am I doing wrong ? Is my GSX.cfg in the correct location ? Is there anything in the file that would cause the problem ?
The error traceback (below) indicates the engine is looking in aircraftData.py, presumably the native aircraft database.
If it doesn't find the data, does the engine know to look for a GSX.Cfg in a custom folder ?

@ChuckOman, I merged your post here, because your issue has already been discussed and the problem has been fixed yesterday, see the solution a couple of posts above.

The new fix works for me. Thank you very much! Excellent software and excellent service!

Downloaded the latest standalone manager, and installed it on top of my GSX v1.9 install and indeed my couatl engine problem disappeared. Appreciated your rapid response ! Many thanks.
BTW was I correct in assuming that the LVLD_B763_Winglet version is not natively supported under GSX, and so winglet users do have to create a GSX.cfg file for it, and install it per manual instructions ? Or has LVLD_B763_Winglet native support been provided, even though it isn't on the supported list ? If a GSX.cfg file for the winglet is needed, I can report that the file I attached yesterday works fine for the winglet. It was based on the non-winglet airplane. Adding the winglets didn't change the GSX relevant geometry, apparently.

It's not supported.
When you have a new variation of an internally supported airplane airplane that doesn't change its geometry, the easiest way is to edit the supported version, and make any modification, like moving a door 1 cm up and 1 cm down, then save it, in order to have GSX create a GSX.CFG file for it in your %APPDATA%\Virtuali\ folder, and take this GSX.CFG file and copy it into the main airplane folder, together with the aircraft.cfg file.
