Umberto, while I know you will not say what the airport is, can you at least advise if we can expect it this year? Thanks

Was it indicated that the secret project is an airport? I'm personally hoping for another utility like GSX or XPOI -- that's what's really cool in my opinion. :)
-
Yes, it's an airport, and it's a very large one.
It won't affect GSX and related products in any way, and it won't affect what is now clear will be next airport ( KMEM ) either, because it's made by a different designer.
It has been in development for about a year, but we'll announce it only when we'll be reasonably sure of the release date.
-
Ok thanks. In development for about a year to me indicates a good chance of a 2014 release. I think KIAH and KLAX were in development for around a year, maybe a bit longer. I hope beyond hope it's KATL. If not maybe it's EHAM. I know that was a secret project that Flightbeam was doing but dropped for reasons Amir will not go into (well within his right to not to). Maybe FSDT decided to go it alone on EHAM. But I thought Umberto said the large American airports are were the money is at (might be wrong on that) and if so the arrow would point back to KATL. That would be a jewel for any top notch dev. Just rambling speculation on my part. Umberto should run a contest with very cryptic clues with the first right answer getting a copy of it.

This is mean. :) I hate secrets. But I'm sure if it is an european airport, I will buy it instantly.
-
If it's another Canadian airport, I will buy it instantly!
-
If only it would be LFPG! :o
-
I'm pretty sure it's a US airport, it's what they do most...
-
So? I'm pretty sure it's Rome Fiumicino.
-
If I remember correctly Umberto said it would be somewhere in Europe... somtime ago in another thred (??). Or do I confuse that with one of Mir's comments before FB cancelled their secret project??
If it is allowed to guess here^^... ...then I also guess LFPG and LIRF are really good candidates (if not EHAM) because they are two of the most requested European airports in all the forums among those that were NOT here in the poll. :-) And for both I don't know any designer who is intended to make it (well, Aerosoft didn't announce a makeover of their old LFPG scenery so far, right?).

I'm pretty sure it's a US airport, it's what they do most...
Back in March/April before FSDT had to change their Facebook page, there was a post on their old Facebook page saying that they were working on a secret project. It said that the project was a large US airport. There was even a colorful map of the United States to go with it. I am hoping it's KATL.
Anybody else remember that post?
Regards,
Corey

And I'm pretty sure you're wrong. LOL :D

That old Facebook page wasn't maintained by us, but some fan that read comments here, and reported on FB, and that US map was their doing...however, I can confirm the "Secret Mouse" project is in the US.
No, "Secret Mouse" it's not an hint, but a joke that can't be translated in English...it means "Top Secret", since Topo=Mouse in Italian...
-

I know it was getting pretty obvious from the poll, but I'm thrilled to hear this is definitely the next airport. So many flight options with FedEx cargo ops out of KMEM.

My top three picks of what it can be, factoring in what has been released or publicly announced by the other top end development groups that develop US airports (Flightbeam, Fly Tampa, LatinVFR, Taxi2gate and Sunsky Jet) I would have to list the following three below. This is based on past user request of polls run here and other sites.
1. KATL
2. KSEA
3. KEWR
I don't count imaginesim, DD or other low end dev groups as they will not affect their plans. Only another top end dev would dictate a change (as I am sure they communicate with each other). The above three are the only major most requested airports not done or planned.
Dark horses are:
1. KPDX
2. KLGA
3. KSLC
4. KBWI
5. KCLT
That is it for MAJOR airports that are not done/planned in the US.

I suspect its an airport that at some point has been requested but was not developed for various reasons. THE "Secret Airport" possibly one of the mid-size to large airports that will be a welcome sight. :)

I didn't realize that Facebook page was not maintained by your team. Can't wait to see which US airport is the secret project!

Any hints to whet our appetites, Umberto? ;D

I am really not excited about KATL. It has been done by so many in the past because it is so simple. It is mainly a group of blocks (terminals) abreast one another. The more exciting part of this airport is passenger travel to-and-fro below ground, which would not be seen.
I would really prefer to see some good payware of Portland International Airport (KPDX). It's layout is unique and should provide more interesting taxyways and scenery views. I don't remember even seeing this airport in the list but I think it should be there.
-
KATL would be so nice. As far as I am aware, there is nothing for P3Dv2 and KATL

What? The only payware for it is a low end version from Imaginesim for FSX. That's it. Before that way way way back was one done for FS2000 from Simflyers. Who incidentally was the group that gave birth to Imaginesim. "So many" as you put it is not true in any form or fashion.
-
And besides that, everything they do for FSX is just an FS9 port over, nothing is native.

I think that the fifth runway, which bridges a busy interstate highway, is an exciting part of KATL that not many airports have. I also think that it would be one of the more challenging parts of the airport to model.

This last poll didn't even ask us if we wanted SLC.....

Because it's a soon to be WIP by PacIsland Sim. No point in duplicates.

I don't understand why some people seemingly have a "chip on their shoulder". "Not true in any form or fashion" as you stated is incorrect. If you read what I wrote, I made no specific reference to a particular version of Microsoft Flightsim. I've installed this airport produced and sold by Wilco, Just Flight, Simflyers and a host of freeware developers. As I stated, IMO the scenery is somewhat mundane. I come to this opinion by actually flying there more than 40 to 60 times, and comparing it to KDEN, KSFO, KEWR, KJFK, KIAH, KLAS, KDFW, KEWR, KORD, KPHL, KSLC, KSEA, KMIA, KPDX and other airport.
I'm done with this . . . .

It's a moot point. This secret project has been in development for about a year. So they are likely wrapping it up. More than likely it will release later this year. So whatever it is, it is.

A Big Airport in USA made by an other developper: KDTW-KSEA or KEWR
-
We already have a nice KEWR from Drzewiecki Design.

Don't understand what your trying to say.
KDTW is being done by Sunsky Jet.
KEWR was done by DD however it is not to the quality of the tier 1 developers like FSDT, FB, FT, latinvfr, etc..
KSEA is one of the top three I think it can be.

Are you basing that on screenshots, or do you own it? I've purchased it, and Drzewiecki is every bit as good as the ones you mention.

IF the secret project is ATL would you guys be willing to model the unique radar tower situated on top of a hill? Its on the south part of the airfield by the cargo buildings...comes with a nice welcome sign :)
Picture of it can be found here: http://www.airport-data.com/airport/photo/034387.html (http://www.airport-data.com/airport/photo/034387.html)

Well now that I know it won't be a European Airport (I confused it with the former secret project by FB) I think KSEA has very good chances, as Umberto said they might consider it anytime in future and the well known FPS "problem" wouldn't be as great as for other developers. Remember they also did CYVR which is in a similar ORBX powered region and that one works faboulus. However KSEA wasn't mentioned in the poll at all!!
The demand for KSEA is definitely there as you can see in various FS forums, so why not ;-) I would really appreciate KSEA (as well as KPDX) if it is an American airport!

ATL wasn't mentioned either.

I think, as someone perhaps mention earlier, that it would be interesting if we turned this into some kind of contest. The first one who nails it would receive a free copy of it. What you think Umberto?
