Looks like we have to download a new FSDT installer for every new patch LM brings out for Prepar3D :-\

@virtuali
Why do you not programming "Version >= xxx" ?

You must download and install the Stand-Alone Addon Manager. Yes, you must do that each time there's a new build of P3D. It was the same for FSX but, of course,we didn't had that many builds from FSX, and the last one came 8 years ago...

Don't you think we would do that, if it was *possible* ?

The Addon Manager needs to know the EXACT build, because it needs to access several internal memory locations that are not directly accessible with Simconnect, and they change with each build of the product. If we simply allowed to module to be installed and run in any new version, it would CRASH your sim, when trying to use memory areas from the previous version which are not valid anymore.

FSUIPC, for example, is exactly the same and for the same reasons: it needs a specific version to support each new build, the only difference it doesn't *enforce* the version, so you ARE at risk of crashes:

Using any earlier version will cause problems and maybe even crashes

We prefered to play it safer, and forcing you to update, instead of risking crashes.

There's a link to download the Stand-Alone Addon Manager on every "Info" page of every FSDT product.

Will you be updating the installer files?

Right now I can't do a clean install of any of the previously downloaded products I own.

Cheers.

As discussed here:
http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,4865.msg79203.html#msg79203

and here:
http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,4865.msg79101.html#msg79101

The updated installers are already online since several days.

Of course, the "previously downloaded" installers, don't recognize P3D 2.2, you must use the current installers.

Since you already installed our products in previous versions of P3D, you surely must know that we never had a separate P3D installer.

In fact, up to today, ALL our P3D downloads were always listed as "FSX" downloads, and nobody had a problem with that in the 2 years that we offered P3D-compatible versions of our installers so, I don't see how this should be any different for the 2.2 version.

However, since it's seems someone can be confused by this, I'll update the button link to add P3D for every link that previously said FSX.

Thanks, will redownload again. Do we have to redownload everytime a new patch comes out? It seems P3D will bringing out patches more frequently -- anyway to implement installing into P3D 2.x ?

Already discussed, and the reason why the installers couldn't just let you install in any version, has been explained here:

http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,10104.msg79184.html#msg79184

But you don't have to re-download the installers each time LM comes out with a patch!

If you just patch P3D without uninstalling our sceneries, you will ONLY need to download the Stand-Alone Addon Manager. That's the whole point of having a Stand-Alone Addon Manager, so you can upgrade it without downloading all the scenery installers again, when it's not needed.

You need to download the scenery installers again, if you Uninstalled the sceneries or Installed P3D from scratch instead of patching it.

Thanks for updating your product so quickly.
I noticed in the Add On Manager for P3D2.2 that is shows the tweaks for P3D in it.

Can you please tell me more about it:
- Does this mean the Add On Manager is actively applying the tweaks to P3D?
- Can these tweaks be overriden if I make changes to p3d.cfg?
- If I dont want to run any tweaks on my setup, how can I disable the tweaks in Add On Manager?

Many thanks

No, until you press the "Save to Prepar3D" button.

They ARE what you already have in your P3D.CFG, the Addon Manager is nothing more than an interface to edit that file. There's nothing to override, the sim only sees the .CFG file so, if you edit a value in the .CFG file manually, you'll find it just the same in the Addon Manager the next time you start the sim.

Quote

As I've said, if you see those tweaks, it means that this is what P3D is already using, because they are taking from your file. Even if you don't have any tweak, it doesn't mean there's no tweak active, it simply means the sim is using a default value for it, so even if you would write them back using the Addon Manager "Save" button, even if you now *see* the tweak, the end result would have been the same as if there wasn't any tweak to begin with, because the sim were using the default value (which is the same the Addon Manager starts with) in any case.

So, the only case when you really are affecting things (for good or bad, it depends on your system and settings), is when you MOVE an Addon Manager slider AND press the "Save" button to write the .CFG.
