Hi there,
Lately I have bought a new laptop installed with windows 8 version and after I installed GSX into FSX, it seems the GSX is not responding at all. I have also registed and updated to the latest version as well.
There is no problem using my pervious laptop, installed with windows 7. Still working fine...
I have read and tried all the possible ways that could fix posted on the wall, but unfortunately non were working.
Can anyone please help? Much appreciate!!!
Regards,
Ison Wan

What do you mean "not responding" ? Do you have both the "Addon Manager" and the "Couatl powered products" under the FSX "Addons" menu ? Do you have the GSX sub-menus under the Couatl menu ?
-
Hi there,
Yes, I have them all on the menu bar. But just no responds pressing the hot keys. Not even after landing options, such us follow me etc...
Cheers!

Check the Key Mapping menu under the Couatl menu to verify you haven't conflicting keys. If there aren't conflicts there, check all your other installed add-ons they don't use any of the keys used by GSX and if they do, either change the key in GSX or in the other add-ons, if they allow the key to be redefined.

There was nothing on the key mapping tho... Just blank. No others software is using the same function key too.

That's why it doesn't work. Reinstall GSX and it will restore the keymapping to default.
-
I did. Twice! It didn't work out... Nothing appeared on the key mapping. :((

I'm sorry, but that's not possible, unless you manually edited the keymapping.ini file, and corrupted it so the installer couldn't fix it.
Remove the %APPDATA%\Virtuali\keymapping.ini file and REINSTALL GSX.
-
I did. Not working neither... According to the file located at %APP%, it does have the key mapping. But not in FSX which under the menu bar, add ons, key mappings... Blank.

Are you maybe trying to run FSX.EXE into "Compatibility" mode ? That's wrong and if you do it, other folders for your local account preference will be used instead of the correct ones.
Turn off every Compatibility mode from FSX.EXE in the "Compatibility" tab for the FSX.EXE Properties, the only one that can (but is not required) is the "Run As Administrator"
-
No compatibility mode has been set. Normally FSX.exe runs as Adminstrator...
-
Please, clarify the problem.
You HAVE a keymapping.ini, but is empty ? I'm referring to the content of the file itself, not the key mapping dialog box under the Couatl menu.
-
Yes it has. Apologise for my confusion.
-
And, if you remove the keymapping.ini file, and reinstall GSX, is STILL blank ? Just remove and reinstall GSX, don't run FSX before checking the file.
-
I did reinstall serval of times and it's still does work in FSX.
The KeyMapping under the roaming file showing "[global] youcontrol=Ctrl+F12 & [GSX] shortcut=Shift+Ctrl+F12"

So it's NOT blank!!
I'm sorry, but the only possible explanation, is that you have another addon using one of those keys.
-
I tried without success. Can you please identify the most possible addons it might have the same key settings? Much appreciate. :'(
-
There can be many, one that is known for sure to be set to use CTRL+F12 by default, is the IVAP client, but there might be others we don't know of.
-
Um... Just want to clarify one thing. One signal product key can it be used on two PCs? As I mentioned before, I still have my pervious laptop with me with GSX installed.
Cheers!

As explained on our FAQ, you have 6 activations per order, so you can easily use more than 1 PC, provided of course you are the only user.
But this won't have anything to do with your issue. If there's was a problem with the activation, the program would NOT "malfunction", it will work perfectly, but in Trial mode, which in case of GSX means it will work in full at all FSDT airports and a couple of default airports more.

Hi there again,
I am using a Lenovo laptop and they do have a "one key theatre" function. Will that be the problem? Since the computer has the F12 set for the bright and dark setting, will that be the problem too? I am so sorry about the bothering, I am not a computer person.
Cheers!

The problem is not the F12, because the GSX default key is CTRL+F12 or CTRL+Shift+F12, not just F12 and, you can redefine GSX keys easily.
The problem is that the Lenovo One key theatre is not compatible with our software, so you must disable it when running any of our products.
-
I have already disabled it. Still not working... I have read one of the pervious post in regards to this similar issue, he attached one of the key mapping image, and I found out I have no any hotkey assigned at all. Will that be the issue?
Cheers!

Under the "Key mappings for couatl-powered products in FSX. It's blank, empty page.

That seems to indicate a problem with your user account, like wrong permission. Try to reinstall GSX now.
-
I did, but it didn't work.
What I found out too was when I reinstalled GSX with a trial version, I went to the default airport and surprising me nothing turned up. Hot key was not responding...

Fairly obvious that no key would respond, if the keymapping is blank. The issue is, it SHOULDN'T be blank, especially after a reinstall, because one of the things the installer does, is to restore the keymapping entries if they are missing.
A possible reason why the installer couldn't do that, could be related to problems with your user account, like wrong permissions setting, or the account corrupted.
Do you run FSX in "Compatibility" mode ? If yes, turn if off.

No Compatibility was selected... When come to the user account problem, what can I do with it? Thanks

You might try creating a new user account ( with admin rights ) and reinstall GSX there too, see if it makes any difference. At least you would *know* that it's something related to your account.

That thread was about an user that probably had some other program causing keyboard conflicts, but we really haven't found what was it, except that GSX has never been the problem. You can try to map the GSX hotkey with a different one, but reading your past messages, it seems you have the keymapping page blank, which is not normal, and it makes your issue entirely different, and most likely related to a problem with your Windows account.
I posted a possible solution of trying under a new user account, but you never came back with a result, and you haven't said now if you tried that.
