Title: Still missing jetways. (partial maybe not FSDT's?)
Post by: studentpilot55 on November 02, 2012, 08:23:21 pm
Hello, I have recently installed FSXon my new SSD along with FSDT PHNL. I had this problem before and I haven't been able to fix it. Instead of having  full blown jet-ways I have little stubs that are not connected to the actual jet-ways... maybe off 20 feet. I will post a picture soon.
So far I have:
MegaScenery X Hawaii-Checked for Duplicate Afcad files and removed them/disabled them.
Aerosoft F-16-Removed Hickem Afcads in its scenery folder.
My Traffic X- relabeled phnl.bgl in scenery folder

I need some help since this has been an issue for a while.

You have a problem with the afcad, it seems to be missing, it come with the scenery.
 "AFX_PHNL.BGL" in FSX\fsdreamteam\PHNL\scenery
This file have all the info for all jetways used to connect to the aircraft.

So the only option I can give you is to reinstall the scenery, an be sure, to install on the top of Megascenery on layer hierarchy.
Hope this help

It still didn't work. Is there an administrator to send me a new AFCAD? I believe mine is corrupt.

After installed 3 times you don't have this File ? FSX\fsdreamteam\PHNL\scenery\AFX_PHNL.BGL.
Are you using AES with PHNL?

No I have never installed it on my system. I also have FSGenesis if that means anything. Yes I have the AFX_PHNL.BGL file. It is 108KB in size.

Sorry but I have been checked on old thread from you and find:
Hello in Honolulu the Jetway that I select as well as a couple (1-2) Jetways next to me are not visible just boxes like they have been cutoff. My Jetways also don't work when I hit the fsx hot key. I have AES installed but I have all of my FSDT airports inactive.

What you mean by
My Traffic X- relabeled phnl.bgl in scenery folder
I hope you rename BGL with .XXX otherwise the file is still present.

You got a duplicate Afcad somewhere that disable FSDT AFX_PHNL.BGL
check with FSX Airport Scanner it's a tool that check duplicate AFCAD you can find in AVSIM.

Another possible problem is that you haven't install in the right order before all the scenery: 1st FSGENESIS then Megascenery and last FSDT PHNL.

I have relabled the bgl file to .OFF and I used the scanner and changed the other ones as well. I installed Megascenery FSGENESIS then FSDT PHNL but what difference would that make?

The whole thread is to show the Jetway Right?
Our installer will check if you have installed the mentioned add-on and will install all necessary file for compatibility.
Let us if it works.

My scenery shows some jetways (maybe 2/3s) but some are missing and some are off. They do not work either.

This is why you should install in the correct order as Megascenery install effect that Hide some of our jetway.
The are other thread that talk about this problem.
SO if you are still in trouble we can check only in details about your system.
But first do some screenshot from 500 FT looking to the international and interisland gate.

Here are a few.

You don't have active our afcad, that for sure, the jetways in your screenshot are the static one and you miss all of them.
So check with Airport Scanner if you get the same scenario as mine.
Even with the afcad from megascenery (PHNL-HonoluluIntl.BGL) left active,
but with FSDT in top priority inside scenery library, you shuould see our jetways.
Be sure to setup setting inside airport scanner folder as it is in your fsx setup:
and check Multiple Airport when you hit scan.
[OPTIONS]
ShowDuplicates=True
[PATHS]
FsxPath=C:\FSX\
CfgPath=C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX

I did this already. It showed nothing. (I also did it again just to double check)

So I found the issue which happens to be megascenery. I disabled it from my scenery folder and everything works. Does anyone have any idea which file in my megascenery folder that could cause these issues?

EDIT
I uninstalled both FSDTPHNL and MegasceneryX Hawaii and reinstalled both like this
Megascenery X
Service Patch for megascenery
PHNL

PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. Is the FSDT installer supposed to notify you if it picks up add on scenery like this? It did not for me.

This is the file PHNL-HonoluluIntl.BGL inside megascenery folder if it's megascenery the problem.
In the screenshot it show what happen if you let PHNL-HonoluluIntl.BGL take top priority.
You can see that only few active jetway and not static are there.
There are also other method to check which AFACD is active by selecting custom parking,
where our AFCAD have literally more spot, then the one from Megascenery.
Anyway if you can't workout we can check via TeamViewer session or we will goes on and on.
Please attach this file "Scenery.CFG" from C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX I can check the library order.

Are you sure that is the correct scenery.cfg?  You need the one from your C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX folder.

Exactly, that's not your scenery.cfg in use, it's the Backup which FSX keeps in its folder, which will be used to restore an all-default configuration.

NO 3rd party scenery should be put there and, it's strange the only non-default scenery area you have in that folder is Megascenery. If their installer put that line...well...it's just wrong (and maybe THAT'S what is causing your conflict) and if you added it manually...remove it.

The scenery.cfg in use it's the one under C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX.

I am 100% sure.

Edit: There was 2 files here is the second 1

I'm sorry, but I can only repeat and confirm that is NOT your scenery.cfg in use.

There's no area in it for FSDT PHNL or any other 3rd party scenery, everything is default except for the area for Megascenery. Since from your screenshots you DO see FSDT PHNL, this indicates the scenery.cfg you posted is NOT the one in use, but the default which is not read, but it's used as a backup by FSX in case the actual one gets corrupted.

Since he's on Win7, he might look at this location for his active Scenery.cfg file; C:\Users\All Users\Microsoft\FSX

That's where mine is located.

That's where mine is located.

C:\Users\All Users it's just a shortcut to the real folder, which is C:\ProgramData\ you can see it has the shortcut icon, and if you right-click on it and select its properties, it points to C:\ProgramData...

This is my advice.
I have tried to check my installation of Megascenery and there is nothing that can be trouble our scenery in this way So.
My opinion is that something is corrupted inside Megascenery and create this trouble.
Do a check disk before doing anything.
Select your SSD, then tools tab click Check Now, it will tell that windows is in use, cancel and then  click on schedule disk check.
Once you restart windows it will check your SSD, after booting deactivate your Antivirus (always) .
I advice to re download Megascenery with the tool you used to download PHNL, in the mean time uninstall as normal with your tool or via windows official uninstall , and be sure to delete the folder of megascenery if still there.
No need to unistall FSDT Airport
Install Megascenery  with administrator right(very important) right click "Run as Administrator" then apply the patch same as administrator method.
In FSX  Library manager move Megascenery down below all Hawaiian airport.
An advice for the next time don't install FSX and add-on in Program Files (x86).
