Title: GSX Could not find valid AFCAD data **SOLVED**
Post by: Logan on September 04, 2015, 01:18:12 am
Hello fellow simmers! I have been having trouble with GSX since I have reinstalled Windows. I have looked and looked but nobody has a valid fix. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please be kind as I have tried to do research and get backup knowledge. Please and thank you guys!

First I get this:
Airport cache regeneration completed with FAILURE

Then I get this:
[GSX] Could not find valid AFCAD data at this position, services are not available.

Please take your time to help me out as GSX is a must have for me to sim properly!  :-\

I have put the file below as it is too big to paste here. Thank you once again!

I have just had exactly the same problem. Tried other airports, same message.

From your LOG file, it seems the problem was that Couatl.exe didn't close from the previous session. Do one of the following:

- Restart FSX, terminate Couatl.exe from the Task Manager, and restart FSX.

OR

- Restart Windows

I had the same problem and solved it by deleting files.bin in C:\ProgramData\Virtuali\Couatl\fsx, as another simmer in this forum suggested. The files gets rebuilt the next time you start FSX (it did in my case).

According to the LOG file you posted, if you restart Windows and, before starting FSX again, remove the %PROGRAMDATA%\virtuali\Couatl\fsx folder, it should work.

I have deleted the log folder and here is a fresh new one.

I have deleted the log folder

I haven't said to delete the log folder.. I said to delete the cache folder, which is located under %PROGRAMDATA%\Virtuali\Couatl\FSX, if you use FSX, or %PROGRAMDATA%\Virtuali\Couatl\Prepar3dv2, since you use P3D 2.

I did that and it did nothing! So I gave you a new log folder to show the problem.

Hello.  I have been seeing this same error since updating GSX to the latest version.  I uninstalled the older version and installed the new one.  Virus protection was off.  I deleted the FSX folder that contains the FILES.BIN file and a new folder was created, but the problem persists.  I did find a curious log file and have attached it.  I found it under my profile/Application Data/Virtuali.  It was originally a *.ERR file, but I renamed it to *.TXT in order to be able to attach it.

You must do it only if you are sure that Couatl.exe is not running so, the safest way to do it is immediately after a Windows restart.

That errors looks like FSX crashed while the program was starting. It's not a normal message and, basically, it should never appear. But again, be sure you are starting Windows fresh, remove the cache folder, and let it complete a cache regeneration.

I have fixed the problem.  Well, you fixed it, Virtuali, but not in this thread.  I noticed there is another thread about the bglmanx.dll file and that file was mentioned in that error file I attached to my previous message.  In that other thread, you went into the DLL.XML file at great length describing how the Add On Manager used to be inserted at the top ahead of all the other add on entries, but with this new upgrade, you elected to append the Add On Manager entry to the end.  I keep a copy of that file so that when I install something that edits that file, I can always get back to a good state.  In my copy, sure enough, the Add On Manager entry was right at the top.  After moving the Add On Manager from the bottom, where it was put after updating GSX, to the top where it used to be, it fixed the bglmanx.dll problem, the simconnect problem, the missing AFCAD information problem, and the failed airport cache generation problem.  I've tested things and everything appears to be working as it should.  I did, though, have to reboot Windows to get everything lined up again.

Thanks for the lengthy discussion about the DLL.XML.  It's a tricky little file, isn't it?

Okay so I tried all of the solutions I have seen here or other places and yet I'm still getting the same message. If someone could please help me by listing steps on what to do and how to fix the issue that would be amazing, like I've said I've tried to do everything right but maybe I'm missing something.

What do you mean with "same message" ?

The thread was originally about the "GSX not finding the valid AFCAD data" message, which WILL be fixed by removing the %PROGRAMDATA%\Virtuali\Couatl folder and letting GSX regenerate the cache.

But the last user that posted here, had a bglmanx.dll error with a Simconnect problem, which doesn't have anything to do with this thread, and it's solved by having the bglmanx.dll section as the first one in the DLL.XML file, something the current installer does automatically anyway.

I too have suffered from this latest update. I've tried all the recommendations here to no avail.  Should I look to reinstalling an earlier version of GSX until the next update?

Apologies, I'm getting the "GSX could not find valid AFCAD" all over P3dv2.5.  For example at Default scenery LROP the messages pops onto the screen and at Flytampa's Vienna the Message pops up.  I rebooted my cpu and deleted the Coutli file as recommended but the issue persist.

How did you resolve it?  I had it working in EHAM (Aerosoft) once I removed the file as described, but when I restarted P3D for my next flight last night the message came back.

Please try to reinstall GSX now ( no need to download it again ), we have new Couatl.exe online now, which should have fixed the problem with the cache regeneration failure.

I've execute as advised, it worked in the beginning (loading Passengers and luggage) but on pushback it repeatedly asked me to release parking breaks after they were released. And on takeoff and rotation I got an err message:

"couatl v3.0 (build 3169)

Please advise
