Title: Missing Buildings
Post by: kopek666 on December 19, 2010, 10:13:13 am
Hello everybody

I bought yesterday KLAS for FSX and I don't have any building.
I see the "Add-on Manager" in FSX but I don't see Couatl menu.

I check twice or more the FSX.cfg and DLL.xml, I delete FSX.CFG but no changes.

I try to install product with antivirus disabled.

I look to %APPDATA%\VIRTUALI but there is not error file

I'm lost and disappointed

Thanks in advance for your help

Morover I reinstall this product twice or more.

I see already numerus posts about this problem but no solution for this time

It's not enough to install with the antivirus off, you have to do this:

- Uninstall the scenery. Reply YES when asked if you want to remove the Addon Manager and the Couatl Engine. Reply YES to both questions.

- TURN OFF your antivirus. Don't just exit from its interface, but turn off the real time protection. Actual wording changes between products, however, it's the option to scan every file that gets open in real time, without user intervention.

- Reinstall the scenery with the Antivirus TURNED OFF. Don't launch FSX yet.

- Configure the antivirus to exclude the following files from scanning:

YourFSXFolder\bglmanx.dll
YourFSXFolder\fsdreamteam\couatl.exe

YourFSXFolder it's usually C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X, if you installed it in the default folder.

- Now you can turn the antivirus back on, and launch FSX.

- Check you are seeing BOTH the "Addon Manager" menu AND the "Couatl powered products" menu under the "Addons" menu.

Hello

I disabled antivirus and I exclude all the folder of FSX.
I uninstall all products (ie Add-On Manager and Couatl)
I reinstall
and I enabled antivirus.

Still the same problem, I don't have Couatl Menu.
When I launch "manually" the product on FSX\fsdreamteam\couatl\couatl.exe nothing append !

I disabled antivirus and I exclude all the folder of FSX.

It's not sure that, by excluding the whole FSX folder, the antivirus will not scan subfolders anyway. Please, do as instructed, and explicitly exclude the following files:

YourFSXFolder\bglmanx.dll
YourFSXFolder\fsdreamteam\couatl.exe

You have to do the whole procedure explained above: Uninstall, reply YES to both questions about removing Addon Manager and Couatl, turn the antivirus OFF, reinstall with the antivirus OFF, configure the antivirus as above BEFORE launching FSX, then turn the antivirus back on.

Check you ARE being asked permission both the Addon Manager and Couatl (both files) and authorize BOTH.

Just to be sure, download the *current* version of the Stand-Alone Addon Manager, and do the whole procedure with it, maybe something is not updated on your system.

Hi

I try your tips but it doesn't work again.
I uninstall all your product, I disable my antivirus (Avast) and reinstall product.
I enable Avast and run FSX.

I authorise your two products but there is no more building and I have only "Add-on manager" menu not "Couatl"

Please, re-read my previous post carefully. This is not enough, you need to configure the antivirus to exclude the following files from scanning:

YourFSXFolder\bglmanx.dll
YourFSXFolder\fsdreamteam\couatl.exe

Before turning it on.

Hi,

I configure my antivirus to exclude two folders:
...\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\ and
...\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\fsdreamteam\couatl

But I don't have "Couatl powered products" in add-on menu of FSX.

Your two DLL are authorised. I don't know what to do

I configure my antivirus to exclude two folders:
...\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\ and
...\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\fsdreamteam\couatl

But I don't have "Couatl powered products" in add-on menu of FSX.

I haven't said to exclude two folders. I've said to exclude two files, specifically. Do it again, do the following, to the letter.

This might have been caused by having closed FSX and relaunched it too fast, not allowing it to close cleanly. A Windows reboot should fix this.

After a reboot, check you are seeing BOTH the "Addon Manager" menu and the "Couatl powered products" menu under the Addons menu. If you don't have them, it's most likely caused by the antivirus, in this case, do this:

- Uninstall the scenery. Reply YES when asked if you want to remove the Addon Manager and the Couatl Engine. Reply YES to both questions.

- TURN OFF your antivirus. Don't just exit from its interface, but turn off the real time protection. Actual wording changes between products, however, it's the option to scan every file that gets open in real time, without user intervention.

- Reinstall the scenery with the Antivirus TURNED OFF. Don't launch FSX yet.

- Configure the antivirus to exclude the following FILES (not folders) from scanning:

YourFSXFolder\bglmanx.dll
YourFSXFolder\fsdreamteam\Couatl\Couatl.exe

- Now you can turn the antivirus back on, and launch FSX.

- Check you are seeing BOTH the "Addon Manager" menu AND the "Couatl powered products" menu under the "Addons" menu.

If you don't see BOTH the Addon Manager AND the Couatl menu, the scenery won't work. It's not enought to just configure the antivirus to exclude the couatl folder (beside, I've said to exclude the couatl.exe), you have to INSTALL with the antivirus turned OFF, otherwise it will block the couatl installation.

I changed my antivirus by Antivir.
I install product without antivirus.
I install new antivirus and exclude the two files.
But it doesn't work, no couatl menu.
When I try to start this product nothing is happend? is it normal ?

But it doesn't work, no couatl menu.

Have you uninstalled the scenery replying YES when asked if you want to remove the Addon Manager and the Couatl Engine. Replied YES to both questions ?

When you reinstall after this, have you been asked permission to run Couatl exe ? Yes or no ? If yes, have you replied Yes to both questions ?

Quote

What do you mean with "start this product" ? The Couatl.exe is not something you start, it's started automatically by FSX. However, if you start it manually, it will also not work.

Be sure you haven't started it manually by mistake. Check your task manager (right-click on the Task bar and select the Task manager, then select the "processes" tab) and, if you see any couatl.exe running, close it and try again. Or, reboot Windows, which WAS included in my previous instruction and, don't try to start couatl.exe manually.

When I uninstall product, I remove Add-On Manager and Couatl Engine.

After installing KLAS, FSX asks me to run Virtuali Add-On manager and Couatl...
I authorized both but Couatl Menu is not appeared.
In Process Manager I never had Couatl.exe

It's best to activate the Simconnect diagnostic mode to understand what's going on, this way:

Open Notepad, and copy the following text:

Code: [Select]
[SimConnect]
level=verbose
console=1
RedirectStdOutToConsole=1
OutputDebugString=1
; file=c:\simconnect%03u.log
; file_next_index=0
; file_max_index=9

Save the file as SIMCONNECT.INI in this folder:

Documents And Settings\YOUR LOGIN NAME\Documents\Microsoft Flight Simulator X Files

At the next FSX launch, you should see a text window with diagnostic messages: the FIRST 5-6 lines are important: you should try to note what they are saying. If the screen scroll too fase, you can use the Pause key on your keyboard, to be able to read the first lines.

Title: Re: Missing Buildings
Post by: virtuali on March 07, 2011, 01:49:05 pm
When I want to execute this command, Windows says there is no Virtuali folder...

This simply means it hasn't been created, since Couatl never ran once or, more precisely, never run to the point of being able to create one. However, the simconnect log says FSX loaded it without errors.

Try this:

Open the Notepad and type the following on a new blank file:

logFile=couatl.log

(please note logFile is written beginning with a lower case l and a capital F )

Save the file as couatl.ini in the FSX\fsdreamteam\couatl folder, so it stays at the same level of the couatl.exe

Run FSX, go to KLAS, then quit FSX after the airport has been loaded. Check if you have a couatl.log file in the FSX\fsdreamteam\couatl folder and post its content here.

Ok, since before doing anything else, the program writes something in the log about its version number, etc, it means it has been loaded correctly, but blocked as soon as it started. Sorry, but this looks like a typical antivirus problem.

I really can't understand that.
I changed antivirus program
I exclude two files (couatl.exe and bglman.dll).

I can't understand why couatl is not working...

The file is empty (0 byte), there is nothing inside, not even version !!
Title: Re: Missing Buildings
Post by: virtuali on March 08, 2011, 08:17:59 pm
The file is empty (0 byte), there is nothing inside, not even version !!

Which, as I've said, it's normal that has been created, but it's 0 byte because it didn't run enough to get a chance to write something to it, which means basically it stopped as soon as it started. FSX hasn't said anything about having problems loading it either. So, it worked, but it was blocked somehow.

We use MS Security Essential, you can try that one. Of course, fully uninstall any other antivirus program.

Another thing that could be tried, is updating your sound drivers to include OpenAL support, it should normally work but, if your sound drivers are missing some files, it might affect Couatl.exe. Try to download this file from Creative (yes, even if your board is not Creative):

http://connect.creativelabs.com/openal/Downloads/oalinst.zip

And see if it makes any difference.

As I've said, it's not enough to just disable the antivirus in that way, if it's interfering, you have to stop its services. And REINSTALL with the antivirus turned OFF AND its services disabled.

And, it's possible you have ANOTHER security product (like a firewall or an anti spyware), which is also interfering, even if the antivirus is disabled and even if the antivirus is uninstalled.

And, if you Uninstall the antivirus entirely, you have to REINSTALL again the scenery, of course using the current installer.

Quote
I try to start FSX without Internet Connection

I never said to do that, and it won't make any difference (if it did, I would say to try that). No internet is ever used or required when starting the program.

Instead, you should keep internet on when reinstalling, with all antivirus, firewall and any other security program disabled. At least, until you figure out what program is causing this.

Try to remove your FSX.CFG file inside

%APPDATA%\Microsoft\FSX

a new one will be created with all default settings. Maybe you have applied a wrong tweak.

I have purchased a new computer with Windows 7 and I am trying to reinstall all of your programs. I started with KLAS but I get no buildings appearing. I have read your responses and have tried everything you suggested in the exact order but I still have no bldgs. Couatl does not show on my addons menu only Addon Manager which I used to activate the scenery. I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me to correct this situation. When I tried to run the COUATl program manually from the file it stated that I have the wrong version for my  operating system which is Windows 7  64Bit

If you see the Addon Manager but not Couatl, it's surely the antivirus, be sure to follow these steps to the letter, don't skip any step, especially the installation with the antivirus turned off entirely.

- Check you are seeing BOTH the "Addon Manager" menu AND the "Couatl powered plugins" menu under the "Addons" menu.

Quote
When I tried to run the COUATl program manually from the file it stated that I have the wrong version for my  operating system which is Windows 7  64Bit

This can simply means the file has been corrupted by the antivirus, that is mistakenly trying to "heal" it.

How do you un-install the sceneries? I can't install the standalone manager if with my real-time protection turned off! I'm using Microsoft essentials. I've turned the realtime protection off and excluded the 2 files mentioned. and still i can't install the standalone manager. and don't know how else to uninstall the sceneries? a little help would be more than greatly appreciated, as I too am have this same problem with missing buildings and no couatl file in the addon manager. How do you un-install the sceneries

From the Windows Control Panel, with the "Add/Remove Programs" section, like any other Windows program out there.

Quote

We use Microsoft Security Essentials too, and the Addon Manager installation works without turning it off anything. Why you think it's the antivirus preventing the installation ? Have you seen a message from it ?

and no couatl file in the addon manager.

You are not supposed to have a couatl file in the Addon Manager, you should have a "Couatl powered product" MENU under the "Addons" MENU in FSX.

Please, follow the following, to the letter

- Uninstall the scenery. Reply YES when asked if you want to remove the Addon Manager and the Couatl Engine. Reply YES to both questions.

- TURN OFF your antivirus. Don't just exit from its interface, but turn off the real time protection. Actual wording changes between products, however, it's the option to scan every file that gets open in real time, without user intervention.

- Reinstall the scenery with the Antivirus TURNED OFF. Don't launch FSX yet.

- Install the Stand-Alone Addon Manager for FSX. Don't launch FSX yet.

I've deleted every scenary as well as the add-on managers and answered yes to every question.
I've totally disabled MS Essentials
I've excluded from scanning the files mentioned
and in the process of re-installing scenaries I get an error message from "C:ProgramFiles/Microsoftgames?MicrosoftFlightSimulatorX/fsdreamteam/couatl/alut.dll"

Saying that:
"An error occured while trying to replace the existing file:
DeleteFile failed; code5.
Access is denied."

And it gives me three options: Abort, Retry, or Ignore

Am I supposed to delete these items from the pc registry as well?
And am I gonna have to repurchase all these scenaries?

Saying that:
"An error occured while trying to replace the existing file:
DeleteFile failed; code5.
Access is denied."

And it gives me three options: Abort, Retry, or Ignore

This error is caused because FSX was still running when you ran the installer, because you ran it too quickly without giving it enough time to close properly, a Windows reboot will surely fix that.

Quote
Am I supposed to delete these items from the pc registry as well?

Surely not, nobody told you to do that. I clearly listed a precise sequence of operation to do, just follow it, if there was a need to do something else, it would have been included in that sequence.

Quote
And am I gonna have to repurchase all these scenaries?

Obviously not, both because you NEVER, ever, have to "repurchase" anything, but also because your problem doesn't have anything to do with activation or registration. As explained many times on the forum, when the activation is lost for any reason, the scenery WILL NOT disappear, it will revert back to Trial mode.

Your problem is NOT the scenery is in Trial, your problem is that the software is not running for some reasons, but this should be be fixed if you follow the previous sequence to the letter.

Rather than starting a whole new post, I will continue off this one. (ALL SCENERY IS FULLY ACTIVATED WITH PURCHASED SERIAL KEYS)

I am also having this problem, with a few minor deviations:

1.  The scenery is fully visible for the first few mins, then the buildings disappear.
-- Without a message saying "the trial ended" (PS: My scenery is registered.)

2.  This happens with ALL my scenery, and I have all of your products (except Hawaii Volume 2, and Geneva.)

I have followed all your steps listed to the OP, with no avail.  I see both menus. (Addon Mangr. and Couatl)

What should my next steps be?
