Probably the most frustrating event in my lifetime (I'm 73). I am getting this infamous error. I disabled Windows Defender and uninstalled/reinstalled KLAX. Windows Defender did not indicate in the History that it blocked anything FSDT/Couatl. KLAX was working great then I got a message at startup to KLAX that I needed to run the FSDT Live Update. I quit P3DV4 and ran FSDT Live Update and then restarted P3DV4, and now, no KLAX. No KCLT, KLAS, KMEM, or any of the other airports (I have them all). In the past, I fixed issues like this simply by reinstalling the Standalone Addon Manager but your site says it is no longer needed.
Couatl has not started as it does not show under the Addon Manager in the P3D Menu.
In the Addon Manager folder, all my airports are listed and each shows the product is installed, in the Library, and activated. When I exit, it gives me the Couatl scripting engine hasn't started error message. In the Program Files (x86)/Addon Manager/Scripts folder, there is only one file - FSDT_jetwaynumber.lua.
In the Lorby_Si Addon Organizer, under Other addons, It shows the FS DreamTeam Addon Manager but the component entries to the bglmanx64.dll and to Couatl.exe is all in lavender/purple. All others are in green. I made sure the path to bglmanx64 and Couatl were correct and there were and the files exist.
In the Prepar3D v4 Add-Ons folder, I see a folder for FSDreamTeam Addon Manager and the Add-on.xml was just updated; then a folder for each of the FSDT Add-Ons I have installed. All of the respective add-on.xmls were updated today. I also uninstalled/reinstalled GSX2 as well as KLAX several times. I have also run the FSDT Update several times too. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your assistance.

Try this test here:

Ran the couatl.exe --test and no results.
I did not have MSV2015 installed but had MSV2017. Tried to install MSV2015 x86 and x64 and it would not allow it as it stated there was a later version installed. Uninstalled MSV2017 and that allowed me to install MSV2015 and it did not fix the problem. Reinstalled MSV 2017.
Reinstalled KLAX and ran the FSDT Update again after updating the MSV's and problem still exists.
Reinstalled the simconnect in the P3DV4 folder as indicated in link and this did not fix the problem.
Windows Defender is not active except the firewalls are still turned on.

I would like to emphasize that the Addon Manager appears in the P3DV4 menu but under that, Couatl entry is not there.
-
Ran the couatl.exe --test and no results.
You mean you saw a brief pause, then the prompt returned with no errors ? If yes, it means Couatl.exe IS working, so you are not missing anything.
Do you have a file named %APPDATA%\Virtuali\Couatl.ERR ? If yes, it should contain an error which indicated why Couatl crashed/quit in flight, after it was started.
-
I have a couatl.err report but from last Friday:
couatl v3.2 (build 4032)
panic log started on Fri Sep 7 19:27:21 2018
problem raised by engine or unspecified addon
{'Airport': 'KIAD', 'Requested assistance services at': 'Concourse A|Gate 15', 'User Pos': (38.94934093714059, -77.44471213024488, 99.207 m, 4.10999 m, 199.96676675801586)}
disconnected from SimConnect.
SharedMemInterface created
Couatl is restarting gracefully
After that error, Couatl ran perfectly up until yesterday when I was told to upgrade by running the FSDT Live Update. I quit P3D and ran the update. Since then Couatl does NOT appear on the P3D Menu.
-
Just looking down in the forum and someone else had the same issue and fixed it but you and everyone else is trying to find out how he fixed it. This is the thread - http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,18439.0.html
-
Fixed. Uninstalled GSX. Reinstalled GSX (not the expansion). Couatl is back.

You cannot install GSX without the expansion.
If you install using a previous GSX installer, it will start exactly the same Live Update you already ran with the new version, since they are both on the same server, so they both download and install all the same, identical files.
Download and install the last full installer with Level 2, I'm sure it will work just as well. What fixed the problem wasn't the old installer, but possibly some clean up of wrong registry and compatibility settings we do from the installer, any installer.
-
I had all of my FSDT scenery installed and working without problems.
GSX Expansion was released and I immediately purchased and installed it. FSDT scenery continued to work flawlessly until I received a popup within P3DV4 to update by quitting P3DV4 and running FSDT Live. Once I did this, the next time I started up P3DV4 and went to KLAXV2, the scenery would not load. I went into the Addon Manager to make sure it was still installed or maybe lost its serial number and all appeared okay so I click on exit and immediately got the message in the topic title that also stated it is most likely caused by my anti-virus program. Checked my anti-virus program (Windows Defender) and none of the files in quarantine belonged to FSDT. I disabled Windows Defender. Ran P3DV4 and still could not get any of my FSDT sceneries to work.
Saw that Couatl was not showing up in the Addon Menu and tried to get it to work by doing several things like uninstalling KLAXV2 and GSX Expansion and then reinstalling KLAXV2 (but not the Expansion). Still no luck.
Tried all of the things you suggested in the link in regards to reinstalling MSV's, simconnect, etc., and none worked.
Decided to uninstall GSX and reinstalled GSX without the expansion. Restarted P3DV4 and Couatl showed up in the menu and KLAXV2 suddenly appeared.
Now going to reinstall GSX/Expansion and move on with my life.
Thank you for taking the time to help me out. It is very frustrating when things (i.e., add-ons and Windows) in P3DV4 do not work the way as intended and you have to do a lot of uninstalling/reinstalling, disabling this and that, checking to make sure everything is installed properly in the Add-On.xml and Addon Organizer, mess with your anti-virus program that has worked flawlessly in the past as an error message says that's the most likely problem, load/unload P3DV4 several times, and hope each time you reload the sim the problem is fixed and you find it is not and have to start all over again with another possible solution. I am one of the old timers in FS who rarely had a problem with any FSDT product and especially couatl and constantly told others there is nothing wrong with couatl and they did something wrong during the installation. They always disagreed. Now I am part of that group who disagrees with my advice as spending 4-5 hours trying to fix a tiny issue like the couatl not showing up or working should never happen to anyone.
Best regards,
Jim Young, AVSIM Online!

I think I know what might have happened: you started the Live Update too quickly after closing the sim, without allowing enough time to close all the opened files, release all the file locks, and close all the started executables.
Now, before you say you are sure you saw the sim closing down, try this experiment:
- Launch the GSX Control Panel.
- Launch P3D4. You'll see the Control Panel with all the buttons disabled and the button that compiles saying "Waiting to close sim"
- Keep the GSX Control Panel in sight and close the sim. Noticed how long it takes AFTER the P3D4 icon has already disappeared for the button to re-enable itself ?
THAT'S when it's really safe to start the Live Update, because the Control Panel asks Windows when the simulator process has REALLY closed, which might require seconds (or more, depending how much stuff is required to close) AFTER you already seen the P3D icon disappearing from the Taskbar.
I'll see if it would be possible to add a similar check to the Live Update itself.
-
Like others here, everything was fine until I ran LiveUpdate today. Since then, I get the "couatl scripting engine hasn't started". I've shutdown, restarted, deinstalled/reinstalled. No antivirus running.
I'm fortunate that I have a partition level backup taken each night. Once I get a good backup of the current state of the system (everything fine with FSDT stuff deinstalled), I'll roll back to a day or two earlier and confirm that it was all good before the liveupdate.
I'll post back when that's done.
-
I'll roll back to a day or two earlier and confirm that it was all good before the liveupdate.
Please don't do that. If you do, we'll never know what *really* caused it and, if it will work, you will still be convinced it was a problem caused by the Live Update.
The correct course of action, instead, is to find the real cause because, if you don't, it might happen again. If it's ok for you, I would like to have a Teamviewer session with you, to check your system directly. PM to arrange this.
-
I took a disk image of the system "as is" with everything FSDT deinstalled.
I rolled back the system to Thursday morning.
I started up the system, and launched P3D. All good, couatl menus present. I got a prompt about the update.
I shut down P3D.
I shut down the system
I started up the system, waited for everything to come up. P3D is definitely not running.
I ran the live update.
I started P3D, and couatl is not running. Yes, it's present. Yes, running the executable with --test from a DOS prompt terminates normally with no messages.
I suspect you have an issue with the liveupdate process. I will "roll forward" to the image I took before the test, and I will try installing KLAS by itself (no GSX) and see what I get. Will report back.
No chance of doing a remote viewing thing.
-
After reverting to the "I gave up" state, with FSDT deinstalled, I:
Installed KLAS (fresh download). Of course the liveupdate ran.
I then rebooted the computer in case any of those libraries actually needed a reboot.
Then I started up P3D4, put my default King Air at KLAS. No buildings, but what appear to be a bunch of vehicle traffic on the roadways. No coautl menus, and I got the warning that the scripting engine hasn't started.
I'm going to roll back once more, and install some other scenery I purchased today, and ignore the FSDT Liveupdate prompt for the time being.
-
One final update:
I rolled back to the "good state".
I added all my other scenery, did a Windows update, updated my NVIDIA driver.
I had the COUATL menus, I had everything working at KLAS.
So I had a current up-to-date "good state" with everything working.
I made a new backup of this state.
I then started P3D4, got the notice that an update was needed. I shutdown P3D. I watched in Task Manager until P3D was no longer executing.
I ran the Live update process.
I rebooted.
I ran P3D4. No COUATL, no buildings in KLAS.
So... the only thing I can see that changed are whatever changes were implemented by the live update process. I'm going back to the pre-update state, and will try again if/when you tell me that things have changed in the update process, and other folks have reported this issue solved.
-
I'm going to roll back once more, and install some other scenery I purchased today, and ignore the FSDT Liveupdate prompt for the time being.
Why you keep ignoring what I say, and do exactly the opposite ? I asked NOT to roll back or restore. I asked if you wanted to have a Teamviewer session with me, so I can check your system directly and see what's REALLY going on.
You said we might have a Live Update problem. That's possible, of course (it might not depend on us, but on the Cloudflare network we use to accelerate the download), and this CAN be troubleshooted as well, but it's a bit complex for an user, that's why I asked to check your system directly, because while I can't see any problems with the Live Update on *my* system, I would miss anything that might be related to the server network, because they are different depending on your location.
I'm waiting for your PM, after you restored your system to the very last situation, the one that resulted in Couatl not starting.
-
I am not going to do a TeamViewer session, as I mentioned a few posts back. If you read and understand my posts, you'll see that I can recreate the problem at will simply by running the liveupdate on the otherwise good system.
So, if you want log files, or want to tell me to try making registry or other changes, I'll cooperate. Or I will wait a while and periodically try after you make additional changes in the code pushed out via liveupdate.
-
I am not going to do a TeamViewer session, as I mentioned a few posts back.
That doesn't mean it's the correct choice, even if you said that. I TRIED to make you understand why some things can only be tested live on your system.
There are companies that *charge* money for such kind of remote assistance, usually they come with maintenance contracts, I really cannot see why this is a problem for you, considering TM is a product *designed* to do remote assistance. If you are worried about security issues, if you don't start it yourself, nobody can connect to your system, and the password changes at every session so, even if you let me enter in once, it couldn't do it again without your express consent.
If you read and understand my posts, you'll see that I can recreate the problem at will simply by running the liveupdate on the otherwise good system.
And if you read and understand my post, you would have known that some issues with Live Update, can be related to YOUR specific location, due to the fact the server used is automatically selected by Cloudflare, to download from the one closes to your place. They have more than 120 servers, it's *possible* one of those might not work well, not being updated entirely, etc.
And this CAN be troubleshooted too, and but only on your own system.
This, based on your own report and assumption that something is wrong with Live Update.
So, if you want log files, or want to tell me to try making registry or other changes, I'll cooperate. Or I will wait a while and periodically try after you make additional changes in the code pushed out via liveupdate.
We made changes to support the new Aerosoft A320/321 for P3D4 just now, but I doubt they would make any difference, if the problem was really something wrong with our software. Only a single file changed, and was the airplane database.
These changes might have triggered a refresh of your local Cloudflare server (we don't have any control over their network individual) so, perhaps, you might find that updating now fixes your problem, so you'll think we fixed some kind of bug we had, but that's ok, as long you can run the software.
-
Try to run Live Update again now. We found a problem with the some Cloudflare servers not updating correctly, which affected some users, depending on their location.
-
I've got other stuff to do this morning, but I WILL try this evening, and let you know.
It would be nice if there was a way to specify a "known good" repository, or if the distribution network you use had better monitoring of sync status. I understand your frustration - I had similar issues with Akamai in the early days of content distribution networks.
-
I'm pleased to inform you that the update performed correctly this evening. Hopefully you have some sort of SLAs with your content distribution provider, and can get some credit for all the grief you and your customers suffered.

Hello, I'm Reinhard,
the GSX menu does not start with the default setting Ctrl+F12, and also not with a setting I chose, e.g. Ctrl+F11.
My system is W10
Thank you for your help
-
Do you have the GSX menu under the "Addons" menu of the sim ? Also, it would be helpful if you said which simulator you use, the precise version.
-
Yes, the GSX menu is available under Addons in the Sim. Sorry I forgot, I use the FSX.
-
Does GSX appear if you call it from the "Addons" menu ? If yes, it means you have a conflicting addon that took the GSX key, so you must change it.
-
I have tested all combinations F1 - F12 with Shift, Ctrl and TAB, unfortunately the test was no success.
-
Does GSX appear if you call it from the "Addons" menu ?
-
the following displays appear in the ADDON menu: SODE 1.6.3, FSUIPC, ADDON Manager, VistaMare, Couatl settings, Couatl Live Update,
GSX, Key Mapping
-
Nobody have an idea? :'(
-
Why you have an old version of SODE ? GSX installs the latest one so, that leads me to believe you have an outdated GSX too.
-
I did a live update on 13.10., was SODE updated automatically?
-
I uninstalled my version of GSX and installed version 2.7.2 with SODE 1.6.4. It is still not possible to start GSX even if I change the key combination.
Who can help me?
-

You haven't replied to my previous question: "Does GSX appear if you call it from the "Addons" menu ?"
-
GSX cannot be started from the Addon menu. Only the message "Airport Cache loaded successfully" is displayed.
-
cannot be started from the Addon menu. Only the message "Airport Cache loaded successfully" is displayed.
This means GSX is working. Be sure you don't call it immediately after you see that message. If the airport has jetways created by GSX, wait for all jetways to be created before calling it.
-
I didn't create any Jetways, even after a waiting time I can't call the control menu via ADD-ONS Qouatl settings. I don't see any ground service vehicles. :'(
-
I didn't create any Jetways,
You don't say which airport you used because, on a default airport, GSX would create jetways automatically, even if you haven't created any. That's why I said to wait for it.
even after a waiting time I can't call the control menu via ADD-ONS Qouatl settings
You don't call GSX from the "Add-ons->Couatl Settings" menu. You call GSX from the "Add-ons->GSX" menu.
-
In Add-Ons >GSX it is only possible to DISABLE GSX. So it should be started, but no ground services or similar are visible. The scenery complexity is set to EXTREME DENSITY and the automatically generated scenery is set to EXTREME DENSITY.
-
In Add-Ons >GSX it is only possible to DISABLE GSX. So it should be started, but no ground services or similar are visible
Are you sure you are on an airport ?
-
I am at the airport Peenemünde (EDCP)
-
What is the name of the AFCAD used by GSX ? Check in the customization page.
-
I cannot find any AFCAD at GSX, nor any BGL
-
As I've said, check in the customization page. The one that opens with the GSX -> "customize airport positions" menu.
-
I cannot open a file in the GSX directory. All have the assignment "pye".
-
I cannot open a file in the GSX directory. All have the assignment "pye".
You're not even in the right place if you ended up there. When you're running the simulator with a flight loaded at the airport you're trying to customize, go to Add-on Manager, GSX, Customize Airport Positions.
-
I have added 2 screen shots, it is not possible for me to call up the control menu at any airport. I have misrepresented my problem.
-
I have added 2 screen shots, it is not possible for me to call up the control menu at any airport. I have misrepresented my problem.
Try the "Restart and Rebuild the airport Cache" option from the Couatl->Settings menu, and see if the complete GSX menu comes out.
-
I executed the option "Restart and Rebuild the airport Cache" from the Couatl->Settings menu, unfortunately without success. It comes only the Windows display that the PC is working. It ends without another display.
-
What can I do :'(
-
It comes only the Windows display that the PC is working. It ends without another display.
Please clarify what you are seeing. Also, we had another update today, please try it.
-
After the update the following display appeared.
Airport cache regengeneration with succsses 2 seconds
GSX cannot be started with ctrl+f12. I.e. airport service vehicles of GSX are not to be seen.
-
After the update the following display appeared.
Airport cache regengeneration with succsses 2 seconds
This means everything is working correctly, and GSX and all the software has been loaded correctly.
GSX cannot be started with ctrl+f12. I.e. airport service vehicles of GSX are not to be seen.
This can usually caused by having pressed that key too quickly, usually when jetways were still being created. Wait a bit before pressing the key,

Umberto hello.
I have an issue where live update reinstall visual studio every time i run it. I have also tried reinstalling visual studio by myself. Can you shed some wisdom and knowledge please.
Thank you,
Ivan
-
Not a problem, as already discussed here:
http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,22485.msg151835.html#msg151835
-
Ok, good to know, thank you
-
Even after a waiting time I do not see a menu for selecting passengers or service vehicles after pressing GSX with Ctrl+F12.
When I started FSX with administrator rights, Ctrl+F12 gave me the option to test GSX, this also worked. So why not use the already paid version without admin rights?
-
The same is happening to me and also in FSX SP2 :'( :'( :'(

That's not normal, and doesn't happen here. We surely haven't purposely coded anything that requires FSX to be started admin rights.
However, keep in mind that starting with admin rights is the DEFAULT for FSX:Steam, which is the version we normally test under the most.

Hi, need some help if possible. GSX Level 2 has stopped working, it's not in the P3Dv4.5 menu only addon manager is available in the menu. It is in TRIAL mode,I get this error when re-registering serial, I have excluded Addon Manager folder from the anti-virus. run as Admin, updated, re-installed. Same error. This is the first time I ever get an error from GSX.
Please refer to attachments.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Kind regards
Daniel
-
- Be sure you configure the Addon Manager folder to be excluded by the antivirus.
- Be sure a firewall/antivirus is not blocking the Live Update itself.
- Once you confirmed both the above, run the FSDT Live Update again.
-
Still not working, I have done all what you have advised.
It was working fine before, just stopped working all of a sudden.
I have not changed or added any addons.
-
Please contact me in private with a PM, we might have to arrange a remote assistance session to check your system.
-
I am having the same issue, was this able to be resolved?
-
I am having the same issue, was this able to be resolved?
Not yet.
-
I totally deleted GSX and reinstalled it, now the AddonManager is only visible in the admin version of FSX and not in the normal version. During the installation of GSX the AddonManager is always installed in the admin path, there is no possibility to select the installation path. Can't I influence in which path to install?
I was able to install level two without any problems, and after paying I was able to use it fully. But only in admin mode.
An installation in the normal mode does not bring the desired success.
-
Same here since today, uninstalled and installed several times with antivirus off and nothing
-
Hello ! Are you having issues again with the Updater ? I updated this morning using your FSDT Update Tool and, since then, COUATL is not loading and all my FSDT previously activated sceneries are now in TRIAL Mode....
Whats Wrong ??
-
Hello ! Are you having issues again with the Updater ? I updated this morning using your FSDT Update Tool and, since then, COUATL is not loading and all my FSDT previously activated sceneries are now in TRIAL Mode....
Nothing is wrong with the updater or Couatl.exe, which has been updated 10 days ago so, unless you weren't updating since then, nothing in the latest update could possibly cause not loading it. But a Windows update gone wrong, a missing system library, an antivirus interfering, surely could.
-
For other reasons, I had to reinstall my Windows from scratch so, I took the chance to test a really "clean" GSX install, which is not always easy to do. And I can confirm there are no problems whatsoever with the current version, which worked at the first try, without having to configure anything, not even the antivirus ( default Windows Defender ).
So, if you still have problems, contact me in private to arrange a remote assistance session.

Of course you can, but only the first time you install it, so that other FSDT installs will always end up together.
If you want to move it, you must Uninstall AND reply YES to the question "Do you want to remove the Addon Manager ?", so you'll be able to choose a destination folder again on the next install. If you have more than one FSDT product, you must uninstall/reinstall them all.
Uninstalling/reinstalling, will never affect your registration.

Hi all,
I have a problem since this morning that my GSX stopped working, it was working fine yesterday but it has stopped working after updating this morning. I already tried deleting the COUATL folder in programdata, but that does not work either (I ran the live updater afterwards). GSX isn't even showing up in the addon tab and in the addon manager it says that it isn't activated. When I try to activate it it says that COUATL cannot start because of an anti-virus issue, I do not have an anti virus installed however plus I made sure to turn off the windows defender AV.
Any suggestions on what to do?
-
My good Lord, what's going on with this add-on!. Reformated PC, downloaded GSX Level 2 from fsdreamteam web page, installed. First run and intent to register I can't.
A windows stating "the couatl scripting engine hasn't started..." I do not use any antivirus software and I disable Windows Defender Antivirus and derivatives as soon as I install windows.
Please update the application so that people who bought GSX and GSX Level 2 as me can use it.
Thank you
-
Seems like a general issue..same thing with me...all was working fine until I did an update an hour ago. I uninstalled GSX and removed all folders and re-downloaded GSX from the website and re-installed, still no good !!
Here's a topic with the same problem:
http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,22648.0.html
Glad I'm not the only one with the problem.

Same issue here... everything worked 3 days ago, and now I can't get a single FSDT product to load let alone get to the activation screen even though I never deactivated anything...
-
Fixed for me, i only changed the security permissions in the properties option of Couatl.exe for all the users, all allowed options checked. i dont know was happened there because i never touch that.
Is working again

Just ran FSDT live update and now GSX is gone and all of my FSDT airports are in Demo mode. They lost their registrations. Any suggestions?

Same problem here.
Since yesterday (12/15), coinciding with installing the latest Windows security updates (KB4533002, KB4484193 and KB4530684), I have the very same issue. GSX is not appearing in the in-sim menu, when checking the AddOn manager from within the sim it says both GSX and GSX Level 2 are in Trial Mode. Running the FSDT Updater (excluded from Windows Defender, Windows Defender disabled altogether) results in updating various MS Visual Universal Runtime instances over and over again with every single run of the updater, but to no avail as far as changing anything with regards to the functioning of GSX in-sim.
I also tried dagauy's suggestion - to no avail.
I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile checking a possible interference with the latest Windows updates as per above?
Thanks,
Jan

Same problem here.

Same here.

After performing the FSDT live update, I restarted my computer. If I now launch P3DV4.5, I will get to the "Activation and Purchasing" screen of P3D. What went wrong?
-
Check the attached image...what is this module failing to load?
Btw, I don't have any antivirus installed, windows defender is disabled and firewall is disabled as well. I'm on Windows 7
I was planning for a long haul flight for today but this updated messed up everything !!
Is there any way to get back to version 2.6.0? It was working perfectly for me.
-
Same here as well. :(

Just uninstalled GSX 1 and 2 then reinstalled. Still not there.

Did a reinstall with anit virus disabled but the problem is still there. Couatl starts when I start Prepar but when the window to select the aircraft and airport appears couatl stops.
What could be the problem?

I am having the same problem. GSX and GSX level 2 were working fine yesterday - After the latest update, neither work. Please help!! I have P3D v 4.5

Same here..I uninstalled and re-installed about 5 times now....no use. I also have no antivirus software installed and firewall is off..it's driving me nuts !!!

I'm having exactly the same issue after I needed to reinstall my GSX (and after the GSX2). It apparently installed Ok, but when inside the simulator tried to register my serial it says that probably the A/V blocked something, etc. My A/V was disabled for sure during the installation and the Windows Defender was also disabled, so the issue is not A/V related.
Could anyone help?.
Thanks, Ed
-
I have the same problem since I runned the the updater.
The situation with the antivirus is still the same as then when you have been on my system. So I don't think its a problem with the antivirus.

Same problem here. Also reinstalled to no avail

A bit of more information, don't know if it would be useful:
After downloading the .bin files, the installer asked to install the software in my C:\Program Files(x86)\ folder. I changed that to my C:\Users\***name***\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons folder. Should I leave the installer to select my folder installation or not?. It's Ok to change the installation directory for the good behavior of the app?.
Another information: during the first start of P3D after the installation of GSX, I noticed that no warning about activation of a new addon appeared. Should I wait a message like this if the installation is Ok?.
Please indicate what to do now, as I cannot use the software due to these installation troubles.
Thanks, Ed

After the latest update I no longer have the GSX in my Add-Ons dropdown

Same for me. Ran Live Update this morning and couatl is terminated after the loading of the aircraft and scenery. I also tried re-install of GSX and that did not resolve the issue.
The Windows event viewer shows couatl.exe crashing with "The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception". If it helps, I've attached the Windows error report.
Thanks Mark

Hello
Same issue here, despite i proceeded as mentioned on the pop-up. Reinstalled after a re-download of the full installer. No success.
I never had any problems with GSX before the last FSDT Live update.
Hoping soon a fix because difficult to do without GSX.

I have also the problem that my GSX stopped working, it was working fine yesterday after installing several Fsdt airports in P3DV4.5HF2 but it has stopped working after installing Fsdt Houston followed by an couatl live update this morning. GSX and couatl menu isn't even showing up under the addon tab and in the addon manager it says that it isn't activated. When I try to activate it it says that COUATL cannot start because of an anti-virus issue, I do not have an anti virus installed however plus I made sure that the addonmanager folder is excluded by the windows defender AV.
So the live update after the last airport on yesterday no problems but after houston today no GSX/GSXv2 anymore.
Waiting for info wat to do best.
regards.

Hello Support
Always been using GSX Level 2 and the add-on stopped working.
Tried re-install and just does not show up in the P3Dv4.5 simulator
Tried to register after install as it shows running in trial mode and get message to say system not been installed maybe as result of anti-virus - I have deactivated anti virus or suggests to run FSDT Live Update which I did - still no joy
Any suggestions?

So I started having this same problem this morning. Except now coutl doesn't run. So GSX won't work. tried reinstalling GSX no luck. Any ideas? The linked thread says its a non issue. In my case it coincided with the loss of coutl. GSX, etc was working fine just last night. Only difference was this morning I ran the live update. Looked for a coutl separate download to try and reinstall that, but it couldn't find one.
Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

And... trying to be as clear as possible, this is the message giving during the attempt to register the serial for GSX after its installation. Seems that several users are having similar problems today.
Thanks, Ed

Mine is totally screwed up too. I can't wait to see what the fix is because I'm sure we'll all get told its our anti-virus (which isn't even installed) or somehow our fault again because everything that is produced here is perfect. ::)

Same problem
Updated FSDT. When load P3D, GSX is not in the menu and in the addon menu it is in trial mode. Anti-virus and firewall not being used. COUATL not running

Today I was requested to update GSX before proceeding with my flight. I did so, it was a rather long update, but in the end I was not able to use the functions with the usual CTRL+F12 command. In the P3D menu it was not available either. I tried to use the Addon Manager without any result. As the Addon Manager showed I was on Trial Mode, I have reintroduced my Activation Key. No success. What might be wrong with my installation?
I like to use GSX for controlling the jetways and the pushback. Sometimes I use the Follow-me. But now nothing is available.
I hope someone can help. I am running P3Dv4.5 under Win 10.

Domingos

Same as everbody else. Worked fine yesterday. Ran updater today. Does not work.

Good evening, after the last update, with live update, GSX no longer appears in the simulator but only the Addon Manager folder, and I get the message you see in the screenshot, when I try to register the serial number, I attach the log file

Hello there,
same problem for me. Deleting C:\ProgramData\Virtuali\Couatl
did not help. Updating did not help (after the control panel showing that P3D is closed) and a complete reinstallation also did not help.
Best regards

Same problem here
Just to add. After update there is no Couatl folder inside Program Data\Virtuali

Same problem here, clearly this is not the same error that is spoken in the other topics given in response. Please fix

yep, same here. Whats going on now? Seems like every time you guys put out an update peoples stuff gets messed up. From flashing triangles to BS like this. Come on dude.
-
Same here. I'm also getting CTDs with Event Viewer showing couatl.exe as a faulting application.
Incidentally, I ran LiveUpdate a few times last night (say by 0200z) and everything was working properly, so it has been something in the past 18 hours so.
Edit: I restored the entire "...\Addon Manager\couatl" folder and subfolders (and nothing else!) from Backblaze and absent any inspection beyond simply starting the sim, all now seems well - the updater is definitely pulling something buggy off of the server right now.
-
I have the same problem after and un-install and re-install. System is trash now. Hope they come up with a fix soon.

Add me to the list too. Just tried the update after reading about many others having a problem on Facebook. GSX entries missing in Add-on menu within Prepar3D 4.5 HF2. If I select Add-on Manager and view GSX and Level 2 they have been lost their registration. If I click to register to then re-enter my activation key I get an error message:
"The Couatl scripting engine hasnt started. This is usually caused by an antivirus that has blocked it...." I have done as it suggests and added Add-on Manager as an exclusion but it still fails. By the way WHY is Add-On Manager a 32 Bit app when running on a 64 Bit sim?

for me, nothing is working. just installed CYVR and no buildings, no caultl, no GSX no nothing.

I have exactly the same problem, worked last night but not tonight after running the update. I did not have the sim running today so running the updater too soon after closing is not a reason. I had added Add-on Manager folder to the exclusion list of AVG. Havent tried reinstalling will try that now but no faith in that given so many others are experiencing exactly the same problem

Hi guys,
I have the same problem. I uninstalled GSX 2 and reinstalled it. Still no GSX menu and no GSX/cuault in the add-ons tab.

Same problem here with this message
I applied all the instructions indicated in other topics including those that appear in the message and it still does not work

Thanks for your reply. I have now noticed that a lot of our fellows had the same problem. I should have looked at the forum before loosing a lot of time trying to make GSX run! I hope someone comes with a solution soon.

Mine is working again after running the updater again this morning. Had already tried rebooting last night and that failed.
I wont be updating again until I check the forums to make sure others aren't experiencing major problems like the latest update caused.

I can also confirm that GSX is working again after updating a few minutes ago. Thanks!

I can’t get it to work. I have done the steps described above but I still get the error. I just decided to update 2 days ago because I have not done it in a while and now I cannot get gsx to work. I tried to uninstall it and start over same result. The only thing changed from 2 days ago was I Ran the update. Prior to that everything was working perfectly. I did not change anything on my computer. Any other hints?

I can only confirm the problem is fixed by running the FSDT Live Update.

Hello,
I have the issue with the couatl scripting engine since last FSDT Live Update (running on my system P3D 4.5 and GSX (without Level 2))
Trying several things:
- uninstall and reinstall GSX (including Addon Manager)
- exclusion in antivirus
- several Windows reboot and FSDT Live Update
Unfortunately without success.
Indeed the Addon Manager appears in the P3D Menu, but when I try to reactivate GSX I get the error message (see attach).
It's a pity that I can't use currently the pushback feature of GSX, because for my VATSIM flights I need a reliable tool...
-
Please clarify if, when you start a session, you have GSX fully working ( in Trial ), meaning you have the GSX menu under Addons.
-
Negativ. The GSX menu doesn't appear under Addons, only the Addon Manager.

Ok, so it's very likely a simple antivirus problem. Be absolutely sure:
- You have added the WHOLE Addon manager FOLDER to the antivirus EXCLUSION.
- You run the FSDT Live Update again.
Also, from your screenshot, it seems something's odd: you have a double entry for LH simulation, is this normal ? It might be an indication of a problem with your P3D settings, which might also be a reason why GSX is not working.

I have uninstall the appropriate addon scenery from LHSimulations (so the double entry in the Addon Menu disappeared)
-> No Success.

Try to do a Live Update after a Windows restart.

Try to do a Live Update after a Windows restart.
I will try this when I am back at home (and my Flightsim Computer) on 31.12.
Merry Christmas to you!
-
Try to do a Live Update after a Windows restart.
Done this several times (as well as uninstall/reinstall GSX (including Addon Manager)).
And every time I get the same error message when I will register GSX.
Now I am a little bit desperate... I use GSX about four years and never had any issues - until now... Is there any chance to activate GSX for my P3D?
-
And every time I get the same error message when I will register GSX.
You must try to be more precise in your report. Does it mean:
- GSX works normally in Trial, and you get the message about the antivirus/firewall ONLY when you try to register ( suggesting a crash happening when registering, which might be related to a problem with .NET in your PC )
OR
- Nothing is working, not even at startup so GSX never starts, not even in Trial ? This would require a completely different troubleshooting approach.
-
OK, the behavior is always the same as discribed in the posts #146 and #148:
1. (Re-)install GSX
2. Restart Windows 10
3. FSDT Life Update
4. Start P3D
5. In the Add-ons menu only the Addon Manager appears (no GSX, GSX Trial or something else)
6. Click on "Addon Manager" starts the Addon Manager 5.0.0.2
7. In the Product Windows I choose "GSX" and click on "Register Serial"
8. Error Message appears (see attachment)
-
OK, the behavior is always the same as discribed in the posts #146 and #148:
That's what I was trying to say: so it's NOT what you reported in your last post #153, where you said "I get the same error message when I will register GSX" so no, it's not happening when registering, instead, it's not starting.
Having confirmed it's not starting (rather than crashing when trying to register), follow the procedure posted HERE:
http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,24332.msg161589.html#msg161589
Which allows you to create a diagnostic log even if the program doesn't start. ZIP your log here and Attach it to a post, so I can check it.
-
As described I send you a LOG-File in the attachment.
-
Your log confirms what I always suspected: you firewall/antivirus has blocked the download of some files and let pass others, causing a mixup of versions.
- Configure the antivirus to exclude the whole Addon Manager folder
- Be ABSOLUTELY SURE you don't have a firewall that might block the updater
- Run the FSDT Live Update again.
-
A really crazy ending of the year 2021...
- Configure the antivirus to exclude the whole Addon Manager folder
already done (don't know what I still have to do)
- Be ABSOLUTELY SURE you don't have a firewall that might block the updater
Windows Defender Firewall is completely disabled.
- Run the FSDT Live Update again.
I run it again and again and again.......
-> No success
Maybe another thought:
It is possible that there exists additional firewalls at my Internet provider.
I can remember that (a few years ago) I had similar update problems with the ActiveSky Addon. The support team from Hifi-Simulations told me then that my former internet provider blocked the update process from a special server in Denver (USA). However my internet provider could not solve this issue (probably a very rare case), so I change my provider and the problem disappeared.
So it is possible that here is a similar problem. For three weeks I have a new internet provider: so it may be that there is a relation to GSX updating process?
I can contact my provider and tell him this problem, but I think I need more informations. Is there a particular Server URL which is in use for the GSX updating process?
I wish you a happy New Year!
-
already done (don't know what I still have to do)
Have you done it AFTER my last post ?
So it is possible that here is a similar problem. For three weeks I have a new internet provider: so it may be that there is a relation to GSX updating process?
You should now better than me, if you happened to notice this failure to update happened *about* that time.
I can contact my provider and tell him this problem, but I think I need more informations. Is there a particular Server URL which is in use for the GSX updating process?
In general, everything is downloaded from these URLs
http://update.virtualisoftware.com ( no, you can't click on them and see if they work with the browser, you will get a permission error, and this is normal )
http://update.fsdreamteam.com
They contains both set of files, one is a backup mirror the updater will switch to in case the other is not responding. However, is NOT that simple, because you are not really connecting there, your actual connection will be with your local Cloudflare node. Cloudflare has a network of 250+ servers around the world:
https://www.cloudflare.com/network/
And you should usually connect to the one closest to you, but this is completely outside our control, it's done by Cloudflare.
We noticed that users having issues with Cloudflare are MOST of the times users living in countries with censored internet ( China, mainly, but there are others too ) because, since most of the websites use Cloudflare to ease network load and speed up the connection, those countries find easier to just firewall Cloudflare nodes, rather than having to setup complex rules to sort out billions of IPs.
So yes, it's possible that, even if your internet connection is not really "censored", your ISP might have placed a block over the Cloudflare node that happened to be the one you connect to when running the updater.
I can see with the forum software that you are using the Frankfurt Cloudflare node, at IP 162.158.90.5 (thousands of users are probably connected to it so, I'm not sharing anything private), which means it's likely you'll have this one assigned when running the updater as well so, you might try checking with your ISP.

You are replying to a that started in 2018 and didn't had any posts in two months. There's a STICKY thread about this, which has a solution on the 2nd post:
