Title: Beta 1.9.9.10 error message - not working
Post by: Guenseli on December 05, 2016, 02:29:30 pm
I installed the Beta and during installation, SODE tied also to install, but was stuck with a window "gathering information".

I waited several minutes, but no progress, then I quit the SODE installation. (I have SODE already installed - Registration and Activation have been green)

After that, the GSX installtion went on.

I loaded then a flight, selected refueling, have choosen the operator and after that I got an error window:

The log show the following:

Nothing is "stuck", you must simply close the SODE window to let GSX continue. That's precisely what the GSX installer is saying (visible even in your screenshot): "Installing SODE, please close the SODE window after registering it"

The other error is likely caused because you aborted the installation.

The progressing window I postet above (gathering information) is stuck ... otherwise it would be useless to make a progress bar if there's no progress.
After several minutes (and more then one attempt) I closed SODE window and the GSX installtion went on, as you said.

The GSX error I post is after GSX installation was finished, I have not aborted the GSX installation, just the SODE installation (as it was not progressing)

Again, it's not "stuck". It's WAITING for you to close the SODE window, in order to continue which is exactly what it says. We cannot not obviously anticipate how much time it will take for the user to register SODE so, the only possible option is to wait for him.

That's how the SODE installer works, doesn't change anything if it's being launched by GSX, it will still wait for you to complete the Platform Manager step. Of course, since in your case there was nothing to do, you simply had to close it, which is precisely what GSX told you to do.

This, of course, has been like this since GSX included SODE, nothing has changed with this installer, except we changed the message from ""Installing SODE...." to "Installing SODE, please close the SODE window after registering it", hoping that it would be even more obvious that SODE was waiting for your action.

Which airplane you used ?

ok ok,

my expectation is, a progress bar would be progressing, if there's nothing to do, it would close.
But anyway.

It was the PMDG 737.

But I noticed after that SODE install a little error ... and installed it again, then with no error.
I tried it now several times and got the error again and have made pictures of it

this was right after I quit the SODE installation:

(its german and says "improper function"

After clicking "ok" same again

After that, installation went on.

I tried catering and boarding service, which have been working, it seems it's just the refueling

You are confusing what GSX is doing, which cannot be anything else that waiting for SODE to complete its stuff, to how the SODE installer works. The progress bar you indicated, is the SODE one, but at that stage, SODE is waiting for you to Register. That's how the SODE installer looks like, and it cannot obviously know on its own if "there's nothing to do".

How can it possibly know if you, for example, have FSX and P3D installer, but this time you only want to register it in FSX ?

But again, this it's a SODE installer question, doesn't have anything to do with GSX, that simply launches the installer as it is, and waits for it to complete.

That looks like your XML had some kind of error. But if the program starts, it means it wasn't serious enough.

Have you set the Fuel point, as explained here ?

I have the aircraft configurator opened, have clicked the fuel point (in that case 0, 0, 2,55), confirmed that and clicked "save"

But no change.

Here is the log again:

ok, there was a corruption in my xml(s).

Don't know exactly what was wrong, but I changed the header etc. and installation of GSX was now without errors.

I replaced the PMDG 737 files you mentioned and all is working now!
Great addition! Thanks!

I had no problem with the installation when I closed the SODE window as instructed. ;)

Yes, because you haven't had a corrupted XML  ;)

In addition to that, if you use these settings in the GSX airplane configuration editor, you can use the default 737 with the new Fuel Truck:

The PMDG 737 shouldn't be too different, just be sure you are enough on the "outside" of the wing, so the fuel point height is at least 3.45 meters, which is the lowest the Fuel Truck platform can support.

That means, we could use then the original files or still that new ones you provided in the other thread?

If you use these settings, it won't make any difference. The updated files are only needed to prevent the error if the fuel point is too low, and revert to the old Fuel Truck in that case.
