Title: Engines shut down.
Post by: Razgriz on April 29, 2008, 02:47:14 am
Ok, So I had an engine fire so I turned on the APU, hit the master switch and then the extinguish switch.  The fire went out and yay no more fire.  The only problem, it has less power.  How do I shut off one engine in the F/A-18?

Not sure how to shut down a single engine in flight sim, probably a keyboard command.  On the real Hornet, you move the throttle to the off position, that shuts off the fuel to that engine.  I'm curious, why did you start the APU to extinguish an engine fire?

Hitting "E" then the number of the engine, 1 or 2, switches focus to that engine, and then all engine commands (including your throttles) relate to just that engine until you hit "E" on its own again.

So, for example, to shutdown just Engine 2, the sequence is E, 2, CTRL+SHFT+F1. Then hit E again (or E, 1) and you're back in control of Engine 1.

That would make a good mission so long as the procedure is accesible to the player.
