i can operate fsdg gmmn gates via sode but not via gsx

The most common reason why you cannot operate SODE jetways from GSX, but you can from SODE, is because of a mistake on the gate names in that scenery SODE XML file. While for SODE they can be named in any way, when GSX is used, the name MUST precisely match the name of the parking in the scenery AFCAD.

for example j7 jetway would serve b6 and j7

so is that why it doesnt work for j gates?

As I've said, it's because of an error in the SODE XML file but, of course, the error might not be in all parking spots, some might be correct, so they work with SODE and GSX. Those that aren't, will work with SODE only.
