I have just purchased the PMDG B777-200. When I am at FSDT KIAH, any Gate or Parking location, example Parking 23 and E21, when I select fuel truck, all the vehicles appear, and then I get
Couatl Script Engine has stopped working. I have tried it on default KSEA and FSDT LAX Gate 109, no problem. There is no error log written.

I also did a short flight FSDT kdfw to kiah. Upon landing and requesting a gate from gsx, same error.

I've tried the PMDG 777-200 at KIAH Gate E21 ( which cannot handle a 777 because it's too small, but I've edited it in GSX to allow it anyway ), selected refueling and no problems whatsoever, it arrived and it went away after a brief pause, without displaying the default FSX fuel loading page, which is also correct, because the airplane has its own custom loading system.
Perhaps you have a problem with settings, try to reset all your GSX preferences, by removing the following folder:
%APPDATA%\Virtuali\
Then reinstall GSX, using the current full installer. Note that, removing that folder, will result losing any customization to sceneries or airplanes you made, so you might want to *move* it to a different place, rather than removing it. If you haven't customized anything, it won't matter.

Umberto:
I deleted the folder, download latest GSX and installed. Start KIAH with B777-200LR at Parking 23. Still have same problem. Screen shot attached.

As I've said, I made the same identical test, and can't replicate the crash. Try to enable logging in the Troubleshooting section of the "GSX - Settings" page, then restart FSX, go to KIAH and let it crash.
Then exit, and send me both your Couatl.LOG and Couatl.ERR files in your %APPDATA%\Virtuali folder. Don't post the files, but Zip them together and Attach them to a post, or send them by email.

Umberto
I will do that tonight after work.

Umberto:
Log file attached. No error file generated

I reinstalled KIAH. Same error no error file, but log is a bit different. Attached.

This could be important:
Airport cache not valid: got error CreateFileMapping failed because the file has size 0 (system:0), accessing C:/ProgramData/Virtuali/Couatl/files.bin
It seems that you don't have access to the GSX cache folder. Try to remove the C:/ProgramData/Virtuali/Couatl folder and try again, best if you do it after a Windows reboot.

Tried what you recommended above. Still get same problem. Log attached.
-
Your log now doesn't show ANY errors. Are you sure you don't also have a Couatl.ERR file in the same folder ?
-
Umberto:
There is no file named couatl.err anywhere on my pc.
I just completely uninstalled, GSX and KIAH and ensured folders were gone.
Installed GSX (Latest version)
Installed GSX Paintkit (Latest version)
Installed KIAH (Latest version)
Reran Stand-Alone Manager (Latest version)
Start FSX
Set GSX for Logging
Exit FSX
Start FSXPMDG B777-200LR
KIAH Parking 23
See attached

Again, your Couatl.LOG doesn't show any problems and, as I've said, doing your identical test doesn't show any problems, and of course, nobody else has reported this.
You can activate the Simconnect diagnostic mode to see what's wrong with your system. Open notepad, and copy the following text:
[SimConnect]
level=errors
console=1
RedirectStdOutToConsole=1
OutputDebugString=1
; file=c:\simconnect%03u.log
; file_next_index=0
; file_max_index=9
Save the file as SIMCONNECT.INI in this folder:
Documents And Settings\YOUR LOGIN NAME\Documents\Flight Simulator X files
At the next launch of the sim, you should see a text window with diagnostic message, that should tell what's going wrong. Let me know what you are getting, so we can have an idea what's happening. Only the first 15-20 lines are important. If the scrolling goes too fast, try again and use the "Pause" key on the keyboard to read the first lines of the screen.

Screen shot attached. Very few lines came up.

I took the PMDG 737 to the following FSDT airports, KFLL, KDFW, KLAS, PHOG, LSZH no issue. I then went to KIAH, got the scripting error.
-
Try to change the level=errors to level=warnings and see if there's something more.
-
Umberto:
There was an error in the syntax of the ini file. I changed it to error. The zip file contains screen shot and log file.
Bill
-
Could you please create another log with level=verbose instead ?
-
Umberto:
File attached.

From your log, I can see you have 3 modules that are generating all these errors:
[ 8, 1]Open: Version=0x00000004 Name="VRS_TP_Util"
[10, 1]Open: Version=0x00000004 Name="VRS_TP_AI_Killer"
[16, 1]Open: Version=0x00000004 Name="VRS_TP_Tacview_Exporter"
You can see they are the cause of the errors, because all your exceptions have their id indicated as 8, 10 or 16, that matches the modules that caused them.
I'm not sure if the problem is related to the crash in Couatl.exe, but I'd start by disabling those modules first, and see if there's any difference.
-
Umberto:
I completely uninstalled VRS SuperBug and TackPack. Still have same issue. Log attached.

Umberto;
The only FSDT airport I did not own are LSGG and CYVR. I installed the trials, and I have no issues. Only KIAH is having the Couatl Script stopping.
Bill.

Try the following:
- Move the FSX\fsdreamteam\Couatl\KIAH\__INIT__.PYE file to a different folder, and restart FSX.
- Go to KIAH, and see if it still crashes. You'll have no buildings, but that's normal.
-
Umberto
Did as you said. Still same error.
Bill
-
Does it happen with another airplane ? As I've said, I tested it with the PMDG 777-200, and it works normally, but just to be sure, try that.
-
Umberto
I tried the PMDG 737, same problem. I then used the default 737 at Gate A9. Selected customize parking location, same problem.

Are you sure you have sent me a Couatl.LOG file AFTER the program crashed ?
-
Umberto
I also tried with a different AFCAD file for KIAH, same problem.
-
Again: are you sure you have sent me a Couatl.LOG file AFTER the program crashed ?
-
Umberto:
Yes I have, but I am going to run again now and will repost.
Bill
-
Umberto:
Here is log file, screen shots of error and screen shot of folder contents
Bill
-
Umberto:
I am heading out to work (USA East Coast). I can try any of your additional tests / suggestions later today.
Thanks
Bill
-
Umberto:
I have done an airport scan, no duplicate AFCADs found. I have attached screen shot, couatl.log, windows report and simconnect.log. Still no couatl.err file generated.

I found an exception error generated by the FSDT_Staircase_large_USER_COA object, which is surely an object you made with the PaintKit (that would explain why nobody else had the error), so there's likely an issue with it.
Could you please zip that object folder and post it ?
-
Umberto:
Great catch. When this problem occurred, I thought I had removed all references to COA. I have attached the folder. COA is an empty folder with an incorrect texture.cfg file. Thank you for your hard
work in pinpointing the problem determining I had caused the issue with an easy fix. KIAH is working great now.
