Title: Missing Building and Terminals at LSGG and LSZH **SOLVED**
Post by: romair on October 07, 2013, 11:31:55 am
Dear Sirs

Since many month I have still no buildings and terminals at LSGG and LSZH

After I was instructed to re-install both FSDT sceneries without switched on Firewall and AV Software and I also downloaded several times both sceneries and AddonManager
I still can not get the whole FSDT Airports. On the satellite view I can see only black surfaces where the building objects should be appear.
I also can comfirm  that the couatl folder within the FSX fsdreamteam folder have 5 folders including LSGG and LSZH and 19 different files.

In the past months I tried again and again to download and install both sceneries but still no success. There is no other scenery within my 120 gb FSX makinf such kind of trouble.

I asked FSDT Support to help me several times and I asked to come to my local PC by using Skype and Teamviewer or another Online Support tool but no response from FSDT.

Gentlemens this is very frustrating if my home Airports are after more than 1 year not usable as expexted.

I realy hope that FSDT is providing a helpful solution. I wll be able to send screenshots and folder/files structure if I cant get a mail adress to my registered  mail at your Forum.

Thanks and regards Roger

I've searched the email and there are no messages coming from your address or by someone with your name. Be sure your email is working, send an email, and we will arrange a remote session when you are available.

What was the solution? Can you confirm you have no missing buildings?

Of course he can, it's not "normal" one would have missing buildings. Don't remember which was the problem for romair but, as usual, it wasn't related to the scenery or the installation.

Well you might remember this thread were several users (including me) had the problem of missing buildings and it was only solved by an update of the couatl addon according to one user http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,8711.0.html
It appears this has been definitely fixed now, let's hope the buildings won't appear in a next update.

That thread doesn't have anything to do with this one. This one discussed ALL buildings and terminals missing from the scenery, which one entirely different issue to the thread you linked, which was specifically related to the *houses* near the airport missing, but the rest of the scenery fully working.

I also purchased KFLL & LSGG and FLL was missing the airbridges but LSGG was all there. Then next time I loaded FLL everything was fine. After a few weeks I went to LSGG and all the airport buildings are missing so I went to FLL and they are all missing as well. How do I get this straightened out. I know you probably want a purchase number but I'm not sure how to do this discretely since I'm a newbie. Any help would be appreciated.

The usual question: do you have BOTH the "Addon Manager" AND the "Couatl powered products" menus under the FSX "Addons" menu ?

Yes I have both in the addon manager box. I thought I would give reinstall a try of both products plus the addon manager and the buildinga are all back. This is the third time I've reinstalled this since my purchase so there must be something in other software or something I haven't picked up on with this software that is kicking it back to a temporary program? In any case both sceneries are excellent and hopefully they won't disappear again.

OK. I have the same old same old problem. Had it once before but ages ago

- Both Zurich and Geneva airports have only the air bridges, with or without Megascenery Switzerland installed.
- I have an Nvidia GeForce GTX570 card.
- I have encountered no problems with certificates.
- The relevant display sliders are set to very dense or extremely dense.
- The levels of the sceneries are in the right order.
- Not much else has been added to my default scenery so far.
- I have installed and reinstalled the Addon Manager, Zurich and Geneva and these all appear in my "Addons" pull-down menu in FSX but there is nothing called "Couatl powered products" there. Is that a problem?
- At one point I did briefly see one of the two airports with everything visible and only the default scenery (which suggested to me at the time that Megascenery was the source of the problem but that didn't last).
- I tried switching ant-aliasing on and off but that had no effect.

 How was your problem *SOLVED*?

I should add that on loading a flight starting at Geneva, as it is loading I think I see the airport buildings for a second and then they disappear, all except the air bridges. A possible clue?

Do you have both the Addon Manager and the "Coautl powered products" menus under FSX, even after the buildings have disappeared ?

There is nothing called "Couatl powered products" visible in the addons pull down menu. Only the Addon manager which lists GSX, Zurich and Geneva as active.
I havent managed get a response to Ctrl F12 either to activate gsx, by the way.

It's not strange you don't have any buildings, without both menus, nothing will work. Now, you must check whether the Couatl program crashes, or hasn't just started.

Start FSX, but NOT on an FSDT airport, and check if you have both menus there.

No. I tried Innsbruck and its the same. My pull down Add-ons menu consists of Winch X, EZdok camera, Ultimate Traffic 2 and  Addon Manager.
No Couatl program.

As explained many times already on the forum, when the Couatl menu is missing, the most common cause is the antivirus blocking it.

- Go into Control Panel, Uninstall GSX and reply YES to the questions "Do you want to remove the Addon Manager ?" and reply YES to the question "Do you want to remove the Couatl script engine ?"

- TURN YOUR ANTIVIRUS OFF.

With the antivirus still disabled, reinstall GSX

- BEFORE launching FSX, configure the antivirus to exclude the following files from scanning:

YourFSXFolder\bglmanx.dll
YourFSXFolder\fsdreamteam\Couatl\Couatl.exe

- Now you can turn your Antivirus on, and launch FSX

- Note if FSX asks permission to run the Addon Manager and the Couatl programs, reply YES to both

- When FSX loads, check if you have BOTH the "Addon Manager" and the "Couatl powered products" under the "Addons" menu.

If still doesn't work, be sure you are NOT running FSX into any of the "Compatibility" modes under Vista/Win7 ( right-click on FSX.EXE, select "Properties", select "Compatibility" and be sure NOTHING is enabled in that page)

If still doesn't work, maybe you also have inadvertently Un-trusted us as a Publisher, so nothing signed by us will run.

To fix this, go to the Control Panel, under "Internet Options", look for the "Content" tab, there should be a "Publishers" button, that will list the software publishers that you trusted, and another tab with untrusted publishers. If you see "Virtuali s.a.s", remove it from both tabs (especially if it's under untrusted)

There is no indication that coatl has crashed. I am not sure how that would look.

What I have done since the last post is (again!) reinstalled gsx, geneva and zurich with the Anti Virus (AVG) off. I have runs fsx a couple of times. Here is what I noticed.

GSX: doesn't still doesn't work

Geneva: air bridges OK PLUS default airport buildings the first time I ran FSX! However, these disappeared the second time around!

Zurich as before. No airport buildings. Only the airbridges and briefly for a second the airport buildings which appear and then disappear in half a second. (I suspect that these are the default airport buildings and not yours).

The pull down menu remains the same. No couatl. Just the Add-ons Manager where you can read that all three programs are both installed and active (which of course they aren't).

I did get AVG to list the bgl.dll and couatl exe files as exceptions..

What now I wonder.

Are you being ASKED permission to run Couatl, after you followed the procedure I've listed in my previous message TO THE LETTER ?

If you haven't been asked permission to run, there can be only two possible explanations:

1) You haven't followed the whole procedure to the letter, especially this step:

Quote
reply YES to the questions "Do you want to remove the Addon Manager ?" and reply YES to the question "Do you want to remove the Couatl script engine ?"

Because this step will result in removing the setting that allows FSX to remember which modules you trusted so, if you replied Yes to this step, FSX MUST ask you to trust it again.

OR

2) Your antivirus is still blocking it.

If, instead, you HAVE been asked permission to run Couatl, and assuming you replied YES ( I hope you have ), than it's possible that it has started, but it crashes immediately when you were on an FSDT airport. In this case, check if you HAVE the menu when you start a Flight on a default airport.

OK. Here's an update answering your questions and suggestions:

.
- YES, I am being asked permission to run Couatl,

- I have always replied YES to all requests when installing and uninstalling, including when FSX asks me to trust the couatl engine again

- I have uninstalled GSX and removed the Couatl script engine

I then turned the AVG ANTIVIRUS OFF (leaving the AVG Firewall ON) and then reinstalled GSX

-EXCEPTIONS: The following are indeed in my AVG exception list:

a) MyFSXFolder\bglmanx.dll
b) My FSXFolder\fsdreamteam\Couatl\Couatl.exe

Here I should add that in both cases a) and b), the following two options are checked:

1. 'any content -file can change'
2. Resident shield.

- COMPATIBILITY

Virtuli is neither in the trusted nor the untrusted list

-TESTING

-I then turned on my AVG antivirus again and launched FSX (replying yes to everything)

- When FSX loaded I checked if I had have BOTH the "Addon Manager" and the "Couatl powered products" under the "Addons" menu.

RESULT

I am afraid there has been no change. Still only the 'Add-on Manager' under the Addons menu. Zurich and Geneva are still both without their airport buildings. I am pretty sure I did everything you suggested.

Try to understand if Couatl is there initially ( you said you *have* being asked permission to run it ), and it's maybe crashing immediately.

- Keep the Task Manager open on the "processes" page.

- Launch FSX and don't lose sight of the processes. Try to notice if couatl.exe starts, if only briefly

- Create a flight on a default airport.

Well I did what you suggested. I didn't see any sign of Couatl appearing even briefly in the processes window and, to me at least, it looks as if Couatl is not working at all.

I am not asked if I want to run the program on FSX startup or anytime after that.. It only ever appears on installing and uninstalling your products. The application is sitting happily in its folder under Microsoft Flight Simulator X/fsdreamteam and bglmanx.dll is in the main FSX directory. And, as mentioned before, the antivirus treats them as exceptions.

It's normal you are not being asked every time, because your trust preference is stored, but if you uninstall, and reply YES to the question "do you want to remove the Couatl scripting engine", the next time you reinstall, you'll be asked again.

Try to remove the following folder, if you have it:

C:\ProgramData\Virtuali

then try again.
Title: Re: Missing Building and Terminals at LSGG and LSZH **SOLVED**
Post by: msharwood on August 13, 2014, 03:44:44 pm
OK. I thought I had at least the beginnings of a solution. I noticed some people on the forum used Process Explorer, so this time I used this program rather than Task Manager. I then ran couatl.exe before FSX was started up, then started FSX and watched and indeed couatl stopped on startup reporting 'a scripting error'.

I waited until the startup process had completed and then loaded a flight with Zurich in it. I saw again that there were still no buildings but when I checked the pull down Addons menu I saw for the fist time in a long time the couatl engine. I then circled on the option to restart couatl and, low and behold, the airport buildings appeared for the first time. Good news. I then checked to see if GSX was working and it was except that was confused by some unfamiliar options to do with opening hangars and didn't know how to proceed with taxing etc..

I then read your new message, found and deleted C:/ProgramData/virtuali.

I restarted FSX without starting couatl.exe in advance to see if deleting that folder made any difference to the scripting error problem. No. No buildings. Even when I then ran couatl.exe. It didnt add anything to the Addons menu.
Bottom line. At the moment I need to start up couatl independently. Then once I am in FSX, to restart it from the addons menu. Can we fix that please?

then started FSX and watched and indeed couatl stopped on startup reporting 'a scripting error'.

Then you should have a Couatl.err file in the %APPDATA%\Virtuali folder. Post its content please.

If you don't have it, let load the menu ( by starting Couatl manually, if this is what you have to do ) and be sure that Logging is enabled in the Troubleshoot section of the "GSX Settings" menu ( I assume you have GSX installed ), then exit and launch FSX again, then exit from FSX and then check for the Couatl.err file in the %APPDATA%\Virtuali folder.

By the way, I see that if I run couatl.exe after starting FSX I can also access the couatl tab in the Addons menu and restart it.

To answer your other question, yes I have GSX installed but am completely confused by the new options on pressing Ctrl F12! Yesterday it had to do with Hangars and today it is about controlling sunshades at Zurich! Nothing about parking, deboarding etc. I suppose there must be a new manual out explaining this?

Yesterday it had to do with Hangars and today it is about controlling sunshades at Zurich! Nothing about parking, deboarding etc. I suppose there must be a new manual out explaining this

There's nothing "new" about those options, and they are all explained in the Zurich manual. In fact, those options have been there forever, way before GSX, and it's the YouControl menu, which is present on almost all our airports.

If you press CTRL+F12, on an airport that DOES have a YouControl menu, with GSX installed, you should see a choice between the YouControl options for that airport, or calling GSX.

If you press CTRL+F12, on an airport that DOES have a YouControl menu, with no GSX installed, you will see JUST the YouControl menu, which is seems is what you are seeing.

If you press CTRL+Shift+F12, on an airport that DOES have a YouControl menu, with GSX installed, you will go directly to the GSX menu in any case.

If you press CTRL+Shift+F12, with no GSX installed, nothing will happen, regardless if the airport has GSX installed or not.

So, from your description of the problem, it looks like that everything is running correct, EXCEPT GSX, which doesn't seem to be starting correctly.

Are you SURE you installed GSX using the CURRENT installer, and nothing else ? Have you manually added additional files to the GSX folder, files that do not belongs to it, even in a previous installation ? If yes, they won't be removed by the Uninstaller (which doesn't know anything about them), but they might cause malfunctions.

Try to Uninstall GSX, and before reinstalling it, remove the whole FSX\fsdreamteam\Couatl folder, then reinstall it, using ONLY the CURRENT GSX full installer, and don't add anything else.

OK, so to answer your message about GSX, I have not manually added additional files to the GSX folder.

What I have now done:

I uninstalled GSX, and before reinstalling it, removed the whole FSX\fsdreamteam\Couatl folder, as you suggested, then I reinstalled GSX , using gsx_fsx_setup. Now is that what you meant by "ONLY the CURRENT GSX full installer"?

I did not add anything else.

My current status is as follows:
1. I still have to start couatl.exe outside FSX to make the airports work properly. Maybe my err. file sent earlier showed something?
2. I still have only the airport options when I select Ctrl F12. Nowhere am I given a choice between controlling Zurich (or Geneva) that or running GSX.

Incidentally, to end on a positive note, I really love your two airports now I have them fully installed and working.

While waiting for your reply to my last message, I began to think that the #full installer' was the separate addon manager available form your website so I repeated your instructions but this time used this addon manager.

Looking at a message to another user I also tried installing GSX and creating a install log file. Is this useful?

Checking FSX now I see that I at last have the choice you mentioned when pressing Ctrl F12!

But I still have to run couatl outside FSX to make 'Couatl-powered products' appear in the pull down menu

Ok, now try to enable Logging in the "Troubleshooting" page, then exit from FSX and enter again, then go to an FSDT airport and launch Couatl.exe if it hasn't started automatically, then exit again.

Check your %APPDATA%\Virtuali\ folder for a Couatl.LOG and a Couatl.ERR file ( the .ERR file might be present or not, but the .LOG must be there ) and post them both.

None of the missing files are a problem, because it seems from your report you only had LSGG, Zurich and GSX, and those are exactly the ones that are being reported to be loading fine, it's the other that are reporting missing files, which is  just normal, if you haven't installed the scenery.

There's nothing wrong in your LOG file, the only thing that MIGHT cause an issue, is this file:

Found gsx.cfg file at C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali\Airplanes\SMS-MD-11\gsx.cfg

Which is a custom config you made for that airplane. If there's an error in it, or it's corrupted, it might cause GSX crashing on load, Try removing it, or moving it to a different folder.

Well the mystery continues. I did that but no change. I have to start FSX then run couatl.exe. The reverse order also works.
The addon manager always shows that gsx is active.

Do you mean that, if you let Couatl.exe starting from FSX automatically, you get the error, but if you start it manually after FSX started, you don't get any error ?

If yes, the only possible explanation is a conflict with another add-on, that is solved by changing the loading order of the modules.

Yes, that is what I mean.
The only way I can get it to work is to start couatl.exe independently either before FSX startup or after.
How do I change the loading order? In FSX.cfg? I can see where it is in [trusted].

Change the ordering of modules to be loaded in the %APPDATA%\Microsoft\FSX\EXE.XML file, by rearranging the sections. You might also try to use the <Disabled> parameter ( set it to True ), to disable all other modules, to identify a possible conflict.

This is the contents of that file. Shouldn't couatl be in there? Which 'disabled' should I change from false to true?

No, because that's your DLL.XML not the EXE.XML. Start by disabling everything in BOTH the EXE.XML, and the DLL.XML, and turn them on, one by one.

OK, thanks. I'll try that and report back. Hopefully this will be the last step!

:(  Well I am afraid I got no further. I disabled all the addons in the exe.xml file and also  disabled anything that was enabled in the dll.exe file and turned them on one by one. I also tried changing the order of the addons.
At the moment couatl is the last one on the list to be launched.

Sorry, no. Maybe we could try a Teamviewer session, so I could check your system. Contact me with PM to arrange it.
