What should be added to GSX and how it can be done.
ericlanegen:
The purpose of this thread is to give suggestions of additions to GSX and how to implement these into the program. I will use my suggestions as an example below.
Please view the video below.
Important points in the video.
* 1)Entire video- vehicles driving around airport
* 2)0:46- Marshaller truck
* 3)1:20- Marshaller places wheel chalks
* 4)2:03- Worker picking up trash
* 5)2:22- Tug with GPU or a/c unit
* 6)3:40- Jetway has Ground power and a/c cables
Explanation of Points
* 1)Simply add the vehicles to FSXs airport vehicles library with the install so they will be seen driving around the airport
* 2)Instead of the marshaller randomly appearing on sight have them drive up in a yellow/gold truck (or one with the airline logo depending on the handlers), get out, and walk into position then guide you.
* 3)After getting you parked, they place wheel chocks in front of and behind the nose gear and the front wheel(s) of the main gear. Location of main gear is based on positions chosen from the customize aircraft menu or from the aircraft config file.
* 4)Could be animated like the marshallers but not really that important to be added just yet.
* 5)GPU tug and a/c tug modeled like single carted baggage tug except the carts disconnect from the tug and connect via a cable for each tug to a point in front of the nose.
* 6)This is going to be tough. It would start with changing the default FSX jetways to include the cables and animation to connect to the aircraft in front of the nose (using the nose position with a slight offset) in the new model. This link may be of help.http://forum.avsim.net/topic/369137-fsx-default-jetway-texture-remapping.
Additional points
* GPU and a/c units are only used at parking spaces without jetways.
* Linkage with fspassenger for boarding and deboarding.
* Doors and jetways are controled based on fspassenger boarding times, are automatically opened and attached once chocks are in place, and close/retract when boarding in complete in fspassenger.
* Passengers walking up and down airstairs to busses when they are used.
* Cleaning crew walk up and down airstairs.
* Chocks are set in place when parking break is set and engines shutdown and removed when prepare for departure is selected. Additional menu before pushback to select immediate departure( everything vanishes instantly) or real time departure( vehicles drive away and haul stuff away and marshaller remove chocks.)
* Fuel truck driver gets out and attaches a hose from the truck to jet in a position offset to the front of the main gear or attaches a hose from the ground to the aircraft.
* Cleaning crew attaches hose to plane to drain toilets into the sewage system under the tarmac.

This shouldn't ever be done, because one of the beauties of GSX is it doesn't have any relationship with the jetways. This would force Fsdreamteam to have to become AES, and charge for airports to have support.

This shouldn't have to do with GSX, but this should have to do with the aircraft. For example, the PMDG NGX has the user set wheel chocks in the FMC.
Frankly, most of your requests are silly, this isn't a ground operations simulator. If Fsdreamteam did just GSX ONLY, maybe..
ericlanegen:
I guess you are right about some of my request but what about the linkage with fspasseneger to help smoothen out the flow. What about adding passenegers boarding the aircraft or including the aircraft driving around the airport.

In my opinion, adding passengers to GSX would be something that I know Fsdreamteam would create very nicely, with proper animations, and with proper techniques, and would instantly put themselves above AES. Not that their only competition would be AES, but they've got a valuable potential with it.
The only problems I see with it, is that the only time you would really "see" virtual passengers, is when there is no jetway, and passengers are boarding the aircraft from a vehicle. Which is what, like 30% of the time? Almost all flights are with jetways, and of coarse adding passengers inside jetways is impractical.
Also, if Fsdreamteam did animate passengers, having to animate movement for the correct number of people would be tough. How is GSX supposed to tell what size aircraft you have? It would rise lots of complains if there were 50 people boarding a Boeing 777...
Plus, adding one animation for one large group of people for the "passengers" would get very old, very quick. This isn't the case with baggage loaders, because in real life, they really do do the same thing over and over again. But the same movements over and over isn't really a "good" representation. Unless FSDT made multiple animations for every single virtual "passenger".
But who knows, FSDT is very talented at their work, we will have to see what they bring.
ericlanegen:
I am not an animator but i would say you make 10-20 different movement animations with some being more rare than others for about 3-5 different body sizes/types. GSX could read the aircraft code from the config file and compare it to see how many passenegers from a chart it downloads and saves or one that GSX provides. It then Or if it connected to fspasseneger it could just load the number selected there.
